  • Did a second flyby over the cone to see the lava level about 1 hour after overflow ceased. You can compare the level with another video inside the cone at about 15 minutes after overflow ceased. Enjoy the view of the surrounding area!
    Video taken on August 8, 2021 1:16pm and 12:32pm
    NOTE : I am moving all of the volcano related video to channel(DKinNYz). This channel (DKinNY)I have been posting video is really a personal account for family. It is giving me too many notifications. Please unsubscribe there and come here if you like. The next video I will be posting is a comparison of the surrounding area of the equipment and helicopter hills. You will see a huge difference is height between June 28th, 2021 and August 8th, 2021
    Some people asked about what drone I used to shoot these videos.
    It's a DJI Mini 2! It is very small. Weighs only 249 grams. This eliminates the need for FAA drone pilot license requirement. The weight advantage is also great for my spine. After hiking 2 hours in and 2 hours out, you will feel every ounce counts! The FlyMore combo comes with three battery and charges by USB-C! After one battery is used, I can just plug a cable into a powerbank to charging while I continue to hike. This is very very convenient. I keep my other DJI AIR 2S at home because it is heavier and you can't charge the batteries on the go. (It has a battery charging base that plugs into the wall)
    Equipment list :
    DJI Mini 2 with FlyMore combo amzn.to/3irMkNL
    Samsung 64GB microSD cards amzn.to/37kWZDp

    Once again, outstanding footage! And have to add gutsy drone piloting. You push it to limits to get the shot. Very impressive. Really enjoy the content & your piloting skills. Thanks for posting!!!

    This is a remarkable flight, easily among our top favorites. The textures! A dip into the smoking crater. We're sharing with friends.

      By 4:45 am Iceland time on August 10, 2021 the wind turbine is no longer visible on any video available. If it is still there a specific camera aimed at it up close would be required to confirm that. The tech equipment has mostly been ignored by all cams, drone and fixed, despite their location being an an excellent marker or measurement of the depth of the lava. This excellent drone operator has returned to NY.

    Thanks for the amazing footage! Don’t know how your drone doesn’t break from the heat over the crater, must be hot!

    Thanks for sharing this video, because I am always very very curious about this view in the crater. It is so much interesting to look at this deep hole, and after a few times lava spill over and over again... Thank you for your work. 👍💐

    There are reports of cracks forming on the edge of the old viewing hill facing the crater, any chance you could get some close up shots next time you fly? I think you can see them briefly in this video at about the 14.30 mark onwards.

    9:32 That thin layer above the large hole with glowing lava underneath is a perfect example of why you should never walk on these lava flats.

    Big difference in levels for just 1 hour, and yet have not reached bottom yet. Thx for answering our curiosity. Watching your past flights, it reminds me of the character "Wall-e" from the Disney Pixar film. Peeking into lava pools, crouching lower to peek into the lava slit, peering over the volcano rim.
    Another area that many are interested in, is the end of the Meradalir valley, which you did a great aerial survey. I guess we need a more on the ground level to see how much higher the lava needs to flow to get into any of the 3 exits, North, South or East. Since you can fly much lower, it will be like the drone is hovering near lava level, and viewing the slope height it needs to flow over. I wonder whether you can do such a flight for us. Will definitely fill in the gaps in our knowledge and settle some of the arguments as to which exit the lava may take at the end of the lava field. Thanks in advance. And keep up with all these excellent drone flights.

    One of the videos I've most waited to see... congratulations...
    I hope you can record the initial moment of the larva's ascent...
    And how was the rest of the wind equipment, just being swallowed by the lava?

    • @DKinNY
      @DKinNY  3 роки тому +2

      There was one video captured the initial moment the lava started pooling. How did we know to send the drone at that moment? We were able to hear from the top of Big Ram some curious noises. People started to ask each other "Did you hear that?" Drone was sent to investigate and recorded the initial phase from which the cone was bone dry!

    • @pauloporai
      @pauloporai 3 роки тому

      @@DKinNY I saw one of your videos where there was a small area with partially circular lava next to one of the walls... I thought it was just the end, not the beginning...
      Another video we loved was the one of the equipment "abandoned" on top of what was once a mountain... which now seems to have been totally consumed from yesterday to today...

    Once the lava cools, it would be so interesting to explore the lava flats and all the tubes. Although I imagine many of those new rocks would have razor sharp edges. I recall seeing 50 year old rocks near the base of an active volcano in Japan and it was impossible to climb them because they would have cut you to shreds if you tried.

    10:00 This is why it's never a good idea to walk on a lava field as the roof of a lava tube could be thin and collapse under your weight. You never know if there's still some hot lava in the tubes and it could severely burn you or just outright kill you.

    I am no volcanologist, as I actually work in the entertainment industry, but I have been watching the Iceland volcano streams for months now and I seem to have noticed a trend……at night, when the gravitational pull of the moon is overhead, the volcano seems to be very active and often spills over…..but during the day when the moons gravitational pull is on the opposite of the earth, the lava level seems to drop considerably and the lava lake often disappears until night fall and the moon rise once again…..is there anything to this observation of mine?

    This video would be MUCH more informative IF you added some commentary to it; we cannot tell what we are looking at…. And your film doesn’t even show the crater until after 11 minutes! It’s 12:20 before we begin to see inside at all! Then only 2-3 minutes of footage of the inside, which (thankfully) alternates with previous film at 15 minutes and before (at least that part is captioned twice). And just when we are seeing well inside- you pan away Again ?
    Really Poor title, video could be much better for a small amount of effort.
