Nice seam cutting, but shop conditions are a lot easier than field conditions. Squareness is usually an issue when seaming to a side seam..Thanks for sharing the video.
Great vid bud. It’s a totally different ballgame, when your working with wovenback goods everyday.Axeminister as well.Im sure you know this already.Alot of people think carpet installation is easy, unless they’ve been their.Cheers my friend.
Almost every carpet can be row cut Crossways, I have done all types of carpet that way , And to be honest the dense Quality carpet is easier than a low grade carpet
some time what i try to do is use the card board cone on a difficult carpet or one with a zig zig stitch by butting the cone under the carpet were i make my cut to open the row.GREAT VIDEO.
Thanks MASTER PS 206 into the carpet and con help stable things out sometimes you have to think out-of-the-box double cut yes double cut Which some of these carpets crooked rows so I’m having side speed bumps zigzags that can’t be cut straight place a scrap piece approximately 4 inches under the cut and would add fullness to seam
If you like the powerhold 250 I think the Orkon k-40 would be a good replacement. I would say they both have roughly The same amount of adhesive and scrim. Are usually always have a roll of orkon k-40, xk-30 and capital power lock in my van. Just depends on the carpet and where seams are located. Keep up the great work on the videos. 👊
+John Steier Thank you, I think the powerhold 250 has a stickier Glue then any or can’t tape I have seen , That’s why I like them, thank you for your feedback I really do appreciate you
As you just showed yes you can. But always rest a small piece first before trying and take your time. If your not use to it. Tape i use is XK-50 for cut piles and a low glue tape for bebers.
You mention the lines on the back of the Shaw carpet. What do they mean exactly? Should the thinner line be on the right/left side vertically or top/bottom horizontally? Which is the "correct" direction?
Just as long as both pieces of carpet have the same pattern of lines. I don’t matter if the skinny line is on the left or the right, so long as they are both the same.
@@FloorsbySouthernboys I was having so much trouble identifying which direction the carpet was running because the fibers were so short. It almost didn't matter which edge I cut, I kept ending up with too much backing showing which was hard to blend/conceal. Got even just *slightly* longer carpet this time and it already is a lot easier to tell the direction. Might be some potential video content to give some tips on for others finding themselves stuck with short (non-pattern) ordered carpet. Especially when cutting down the 12 ft into smaller sections where the black lines have been cut off.
@@ty2seven657I find it best, if I'm cutting smaller pieces off for cross seams, and they won't have the lines. I mark the backing with lines or arrows before I cut it off, so I know what direction it should run with the lines.
I'm still catching up on your videos!! I stopped rowing cross seams years ago . When dry fitting a three piece till in a 26ft room the crosses didn't match up. But your pattern match you have to! Can't always find a cross row, I've actually had to free style with a top cutter. They don't make carpet like they use to for sure! I've watched your seam work and you don't have to worry about how the sun hits your seams,,, ain't gonna see them!!!!
Thanks for your video's. I saw first time in your video what is row finder, and what is funny in Poland we don't have it in shops. I bought row finders from usa :D My "masters" teach me to cut carpets at the back with ruler. In fact if you do this precisely, seaming will be good, but if you do this with row finder and "two-sided pushed knife" seaming's are ideal. By the way, I find your channel, because I want to do my own channel about carpets. When I was started doing carpets I was looking for any informations about how to do this better, and I dont found. Thats reason why i want to do this. For everyone who wants to know how to do this.
Lion Gaming Rosario I think the only way to ensure that you don’t get dark spots and light spots together is to row cut , The only time I have ever used a serpentine straight edge is on a sculpture carpet
shawn moore No sir I will have to look that up thank you for that recommendation I love it when people do that because I’m all about learning better ways
Lloyd Frazier Since it is row Cut and if you row cut everything else in the house or job everything should stay straight so long as you get your very first piece of carpet straight everything else will run off of that for instants if you start in the master bedroom and you have a hallway with other bedrooms running off of the side of the hallway which connects to the master bedroom, you need to take extra time to make sure that that master bedroom is straight because all of your other Rooms are going to be running off of that one piece, it’s just like if he was running a pattern carpet you have to make sure your first piece is perfect
Shawesome vs. Mosuck
Great video, thank you so much for making this.
Gold Coast Flooring 😂😂😂

Will7311 S right
Thanks for this demo.. it was very helpful
Awesome
Shaw was always my favorite mill. Their carpets are very installer friendly, and the ease to lay them always produced a better finished product.
gbuddy yup i agree
What about cross row cutting high Qualty dense carpet
Almost every carpet can be row cut Crossways, I have done all types of carpet that way , And to be honest the dense Quality carpet is easier than a low grade carpet
How long were those carpet fibers?
Great video my friend!
Thank you
😀👍thank you
great demo on it.

Add a little full to the seam seal glue or Hotmail
Add fuller to the seam

Shane Pennington Also thank you for telling me what kind of tape if you use

@@FloorsbySouthernboys I get that. I just meant if the skinny line is on the right does that mean the direction of the carpet is running down or up
@@ty2seven657 I honestly don’t know if that makes a difference or not I have never thought about that

Luke Oconnor Thank you for sharing that that is extremely nice to hear
Seammaster bt50 for years love it . Years back started with bb4 but they stopped making it .

What are your thoughts on the serpentine straight edge for the speckle carpet
Good question
Lion Gaming Rosario I think the only way to ensure that you don’t get dark spots and light spots together is to row cut , The only time I have ever used a serpentine straight edge is on a sculpture carpet
With different skews on different parts of the roll it's hard to tell if you are square with such a small sample
+Barry Swederofsky Well in reality there is never any need for a really long cross seam
Concord steel tape because I power stretch also koolglide
😀👍
Great demonstration! Have you ever used or heard of a tool called a seam mate?
shawn moore No sir I will have to look that up thank you for that recommendation I love it when people do that because I’m all about learning better ways
Seam mate?..... it's a doorway seam tool right? ....you beat the carpet with a rubber mallet on top of a blade.... I liked mine (got stolen).....
Great Video.
Gardening With Tracy Thank you ma’am I appreciate that and I appreciate all your gardening videos, love to see people share their knowledge
Try BB flat... Power hold is good too..
Denny Evans thank you
How do you control the squareness against the main seam when using this method?
Lloyd Frazier Since it is row Cut and if you row cut everything else in the house or job everything should stay straight so long as you get your very first piece of carpet straight everything else will run off of that for instants if you start in the master bedroom and you have a hallway with other bedrooms running off of the side of the hallway which connects to the master bedroom, you need to take extra time to make sure that that master bedroom is straight because all of your other Rooms are going to be running off of that one piece, it’s just like if he was running a pattern carpet you have to make sure your first piece is perfect
Flawless seams.
Maelthas Divine Thank you I appreciate your kind words
Nice, do you not row cut crossways on the job?
Floored Depends on the carpet
Put it like this if you have to put in a cross seam or a head seam something is really wrong!
