Hiking 500 miles across Colorado in 20 days

- Follow along with me as I (mostly) solo thru hike the Colorado Trail!
The Colorado Trail (or CT for short) is a 500ish (depends on which side of the Collegiate you take) hike that stretches from Denver to Durango. Despite the number of individuals that hike it and the efforts of trail crews keeping it maintained, the CT is a tough one. This trail is nonstop up and down! That definitely makes for some good views, though.
I started my hike on August 4th and finished on the 24th.

Great job. Thank you for sharing with a beautiful video!
Congratulations on a great adventure!
Hell of a pace! 23 days about killed my old ass! Planning on doing again this fall!
39 days and counting, can’t wait! Great video!
I did it in 17 days in 2012. It’s crazy how fast the miles fly by each day when all you really have to do is eat, sleep, and walk.
As a European, I never really was interested in Colorado for some reason. But this is the first video of a colorado trail that seems to capture its true beauty for me. Good job.
This is amazing work my friend.
Thank you so much!
would love to see your itinerary if at all possible. great video
This is really nicely done! Takes me back!
Thanks bunches! It's a ton of fun throwing these together.
This makes me feel even more out of shape 😂. I did 75 miles over 5 days in 2021 and 71 miles in 2022 over 5 days. The elevation was pretty tough on me.
Good thing it isn't a race! I wish I could afford to spend more days out there, but it's pretty expensive taking that much time away from work ._.
Great video! Wondering what your prep was like to complete in 20 days? I assume you are an avid hiker/backpacker? Do you live at a high elevation? I’m a flatlander prepping to section hike the CT this summer, thus the questions! 😁 Awesome accomplishment!!
I'm also a flatlander (from michigan) and I didn't really do any prep. Aside from planning my resupply points, I pretty much just went for it!
Dude great video! That looked like it was an incredible experience! Great editing too! Did you use your band's music for this?
Thanks! The music is mostly unfinished projects I touched up for the vid. There's one live recording of a practice/jam sesh with my band, and the closing track is off of our EP. The two electric ambient tracks were royalty free modular patches I found online.
Great video! How do you like the dual water pockets? Does it weigh down on your shoulders a lot? Does only one shoulder water pocket feel uneven?
I love having my water on my shoulder straps so I don't have to take off my bag to grab a drink. It never weighed too much on my shoulders; it actually feels like it helps even out the weight a bit from your bag
Be honest… how hard was this trail? I’m interesting in doing it, but question if I’ll be able to handle the elevation since I’ll be coming from the flat land of Indiana. Do you think someone who just got into backpacking less than a year ago would be able to complete such trail?
As a Michigander who just started backpacking 2 years ago, you can absolutely do it! It's not an easy hike (tons of up and down per mile), but at least there's plenty of camp spots. The trail is super well worn, so there's also hardly any obstacles.
What camera did you shoot on, if you don't mind me asking?
