UFC weight cut is very dangerous they need let fighters fights natural weights cuz they cut 30 to 40 pounds in week that’s crazy but after weight they eat normal then weight double in fight night it’s advantage for some fighter but not all

Hi Abdi!! Omg thats SO DANGEROUS!! WTF!! Why!! I feel so bad for them 😬

    • @Unknown-ot1zr
      @Unknown-ot1zr 3 роки тому +29

Fighting at your natural weight class isn't possible. When your life and hundreds of thousands of $ are on the line you'll do anything to win.
The upper limits for each weight class is:
      - 125lbs
      - 135lbs
      - 145lbs
      - 155lbs
      - 170lbs
      - 185lbs
      - 205lbs
      - 265lbs
I'm an average man and I weigh 165lbs, my natural weight class without weight cutting would therefore be 170lbs.
But why would I fight there? I know I can safely cut 10lbs of water weight and fight someone slightly smaller than me at 155lbs. Fighting a smaller man increases my chances of winning, which means more money.
So I cut 10lbs and weigh in at 155lbs. Now I have 24hrs to rehydrate and on the night of the fight I'll have a 10lb+ weight advantage over my opponent.
I win the fight, and keep doing this. Some other fighters notice that I look a little drained at weigh ins. They do a little research and realise what I'm doing.
They decide to copy me, but they take it even further, instead of cutting 10lbs they decide to cut 20lbs of water weight. They're now able to fight at 145lbs despite naturally weighing 165lbs.
Eventually you get to the point that we're at today where everybody weight cuts, because if you don't you'll end up fighting a guy with a 20lb+ weight advantage.

@@Unknown-ot1zr Hi Unknown!! Thanks for watching my video and for joining me (: !!
OMG YOURE THE BEST!! I didn't know they did that!! So theyre allowed to choose whatever weight class and "cheat" at their own risk... that's so interesting !! how do they have energy to fight when theyre so depleted? I wouldnt think they have enough time to replenish before the fight. THANK YOU for taking the time to explain this to me I had no idea! (:

    • @Unknown-ot1zr
      @Unknown-ot1zr 3 роки тому +12

@@BigDaddyMoMo1 I wouldn't say it's cheating as there are some people who have no choice but to cut weight e.g BigFoot Silva.
But yeah, you get to choose your own weight class and cut at your own risk.
Some fighters e.g Fedor Emelianenko, prefered to fight bigger guys, and had great sucess doing so, and some other fighters have actually benefited from moving up e.g Robert Whittaker.
Back in the day everybody used IV's to rehydrate before fights. IV's are banned now though, so some fighters like Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier had to move up a weight class.
Despite them being banned, some fighters e.g Paulo Costa continue to use them. This is a USADA issue though and not a UFC issue (I'll explain all this in another post).
Nowadays I think the way to recover is just to drink litres of electrolyte water and consume lots of carbs and glycogen. This won't get them to 100% but it'll be close enough.
They're never 100% going into a fight though, there is always an issue, even if its non weight cut related.
*Off the top of my head:*
      - *Conor Mcgregor* Staph infection.
      - *Kevin Lee* Staph infection.
      - *Khabib Numagomedov* Mumps, broken toe.
      - *Justin Gaethje* Eye infection.
When you train a lot your immune system is temporarily weakened, so minor infections are common (staph isn't minor but still common)

    • @Unknown-ot1zr

Onto the athletic commissions. Athletic comissions such as NSAC oversee the sport. They decide whether or not MMA should be legal (New York was very recent) and what strikes should and shouldn't be legal (12-6 elbow for example).
Every state and every country has it's own athletic comission, and this has led to issues, mainly regarding the downed fighter rule.
For a while the rule seemed to change with every event, but I think the UFC now uses the unified version in every state.
Different MMA organizations also have different rules which can be difficult for fighters to adapt to. Most UFC fighters have team teammates that are in other organizations, so they will spar for hours under their teammates ruleset to prepare them for their fight. but then have to remember to never actually use certain strikes in one of their own fights because they'll get DQ'd if they do.
Take Petr Yans illegal knee for example. That knee would have been legal in the 2nd biggest organization in the world 'ONE' and it would also have been legal in 'PRIDE' which was the biggest organization before the UFC.
Other strikes such as soccer kicks, and headbutts are also legal in certain organizations.

Hello gorgeous, yes fighters weight cut is difficult especially depending on how much they have to cut. At the end is most difficult getting last few pounds off. This last fight Khabib had serious issues people did not know about such as. He had the mumps, and was in the hospital for weeks. He also had broken two toes, and bones in his foot 3 weeks before the fight. All these factors made the already difficult process of training and cutting weight more difficult than normal. Still dominated!!

2:17 it’s a weight cut. He’s exhausted, rundown, and in pain.
4:36 after the weight cut they go to whatever time the commission tells them and he’s weighed for his official fight weight. Then he chugs Pedialyte , Gatorade, replenishes his body any way he can, good food, gets his weight back up to where he feels healthy all in 24hours, then he fights.

Weight cuts are dangerous but most fighters keep themselves in good shape for that reason, others however are fighting at weights maybe one or two pounds of their natural weight so they are lucky. However in this weight cut Khabib had just lost his father very recently that man was his coach, his mentor, his biggest fan and Khabib was his father biggest fan. This was the first time his father was not training him, watching him or waiting for him back home. After this fight he revealed his mother spoke to him and didn't want him fighting anymore without his father, Khabib's respect for his mother and his family is the kind you just don't see anymore. This was his last fight ever it's a crying shame but it's understandable besides he beat the whole division. As much as people talk about Jon Jones no one ever made Khabib look human he was unstoppable it was a victory just to survive five rounds with him, Khabib is without a doubt the greatest fighter to ever grace the octagon.

He’s basically trying to get rid of as much water weight as he can. So he’s dehydrated. He’s just trying to sweat as much as possible. After the weight in he’ll start drinking water again and put that weight back on.

Well Khabib cuts way too much weight for a 155er. Weight wise he should be a 170 lb welterweight
But in this weight I think he was sick that's why it was extra hard
