I can totally understand why this book might not work for everyone, though I adore it and have read it (and the others in the space trilogy) multiple times. What's interesting to me is that Lewis said it was his way of addressing his own uneasy dread of the big cold black endless death of empty space and trying to imagine how the greatness of space and planets and extraterrestrials could all still exist completely within sound theology, not outside of it, for there is no "outside". To change from viewing space as dead and dreadful to seeing it, indeed, as The Heavens.
Interestingly enough, I feel like this idea of it being Lewis’s way of addressing his own unease ties into my thoughts about Sci-Fi as a whole. I’ll have to think more on that. Thanks for watching!
That's the copy I have. I enjoyed this one but I enjoyed the next two books are better. I believe the first mention of Numenor is in this series, I wish Tolkien finished his sci-fi book.
Good to know. Hopefully I enjoy them more as well. A Tolkien Sci-Fi would’ve been fantastic. Gotcha. Thanks. I don’t do research beforehand, but I probably should if I’m going to cite dates. 😅 Thanks for watching!
I am hopeful that I will read the Space Trilogy next year as I hope to read more SciFi in general but I also feel like I need to try more Lewis even though I agree that I enjoy his stuff but it doesn't knock my socks off.
This was a great review. I never got to read the space trilogy, and really don’t feel interested to, but I appreciate his impact on the genre, and fiction in general.
I have these books and always wanted to read them but so far I keep skipping them lol. Thx for your review. Maybe this will jumpstart it for me. Thx Tony. -Joe
I see why you’d say that, but I do disagree in some ways. That’s a discussion for another video though, so you’ll have to wait to hear why until I film that one. Thanks for watching!

The book came out in 1938 btw, Lewis passed in 1963.
Good to know. Hopefully I enjoy them more as well.

Great review. You should at least press on to Perelandra and especially That Hideous Strength
I shall try. As soon as I can.
Thanks for watching!

Eh, I’m of the opinion that you should only read something if you want to. But yeah, if you want to, go for it.
Thanks for watching!

Understandable. Lots of books that I don’t feel any desire to read.
Thanks for watching!

I understand. 😅 Hopefully you enjoy them when you get to them.
Thanks for watching!
I had a problem with this in that it wasn’t a science fiction novel. It’s 100% a portal fantasy, just with a spaceship instead of a wardrobe.
I see why you’d say that, but I do disagree in some ways. That’s a discussion for another video though, so you’ll have to wait to hear why until I film that one.
