Hydroplaning A Large Pot Off the Wheel

Learn how to get a large pot off your wheel with minimal damage. If you do not have a bat system and you share your wheel or want to be able to use your wheel while your large pot is drying, you can hydroplane your work right off your wheel. With practice you can even barely damage your pot in the process! :D
Sorry guys, this is a fast one :D I literally did no editing or planning. But I thought it might be nice to see the education happening in real time and in my natural habitat. LOL. Hope that's OK! I have been overwhelmed with some huge video projects and very little mental and emotional energy in this year of post COVID teaching. I promise I have many projects in the works... I’ve been doing this for years but I didn’t have a word for it 😂 hydroplaning yes that’s a good word. I do put a sheet of paper on the top and seal it to the rim to trap the air to prevent distortion but very similar to how I do it.

I put a piece of paper gently on the rim to stop it distorting. Once off I peal the piece of paper off all round rather than from one direction.
