The fact that we see that knuckles is actually guarding the master emerald for the first time in over a decade is a good sign, story wise at least
No surprise as Ian Flynn is in charge of the story this time around.

The new Frontiers peek actually looks a bit more polished than the previous trailers. The combat looks more fun, even if that new enemy type seems a bit boring (the parts where you quickstep, anyways). Pop-in is still a major issue, hope they get that sorted out. Also, the world still needs to feel fresh and unique (like a Sonic game should be) from other open-worlds. All you need is more curves and loop-de-loops, as well as less scatterbrained object placement, and we might have something truly unique here.
Also, even if the guy over at IGN confirmed that the game shown so far was just an early build, we should still be wary. This "early build" was what Sega decided would resemble the final game. So we should still remain absolutely critical of what we're seeing. Until we get footage of a supposed newer build, we must not give Sonic Team the benefit of the doubt.
Agreed. I feel the world looks a little bland in the game compared to the normally colourful worlds we are used to. I do think they should play to Nostalgia a little bit though. Like having a 3D open world of Green Hill Zone would be cool. Something looking like the opening scene they just showed for Sonic Prime. I think having that as a first level, (even if just to please us old grumps - me inlcuded) then slowly move away to something completely new & different would work well to help transition Sonic to full 3D. Will still be interesting to see the final product, good or bad.

The choice of music in "Knight of the Wind" for that little snippet of it at the end made it feel a gazillion times better than the ambient theme we've heard so far. I understand what the are trying to do with the mysterious ambience theme we've seen in previews so far, but it really is the wrong choice if they want to bring that energy that Sonic is well known for to the game. Whereas on the other hand, "Knight of the Wind" is perfect for it.
Everytime i see sonic frontier, it reminds me of PSONGS. The enemy, the world, the song used for trailer.

The story is probably gonna be handled very well, because Ian Flynn is writing it and handles the IDW sonic comics story with respect
Even if I don't care about Speed Battle, it's really neat to see Mephiles still being used in the franchise!
I hope he can also appear in Sonic Prime, given that it's about paralell universes and stuff.

Ok before when I saw the gameplay and combat I stopped being as hyped, but that enemy type looked really cool, and the fact that knuckles was protecting the master emerald on angel island for the first time since adventure 1 when chaos attacked, has got me really, REALLY interested in the game now
And don’t forget that ign CONFIRMED the gameplay was from an early build they were being honest and they say it’s looking like their gonna knock this one out of the park

I'm happy they still acknowledge Black Knigh's existence in a way by using the characters and music elsewhere, it's not the best game but the OST and story are too good to wallow in obscurity

Ian's got Knuckles written correctly based on those three seconds alone. I like it!
That sneaky knight of the wind in the background was a nice touch.
Something interesting to note about the prologue is that the angel island shown is very similar to the one in Sonic Adventure; you can also see what is presumably the mountains of the mystic ruins in the background.

If I recall correctly, the whole mountain is Angel Island, that's why you gotta enter it through a hole that also goes to Ice Cap.

@@bowserjrsoutsidestory7125 I mean we've had inconclusive evidence of it actually going back into the sky after chaos was defeated, outside of the comics there's never been concrete indications that its in the air again. We ASSUME it is because you'd think if it wasn't sega would tell someone. But all the instances of angel island floating have been in games that either don't have a clear placement in the timeline or are dubious canon like the forces comic and sonic chronicles.
I'm just happy that knuckles is actually protecting the emerald

@@jack1074 It was one of my first and is one of my favorite Sonic games. Not neccessarily for gameplay but story and music-wise. I stand by the notion that it's the best representation of Sonic's character in the games. (Not discounting Unleashed of course)

The fact that this came out on the same day as my birthday makes it even more exciting.
Sometimes I like going back to announcements and teasers to see what we thought then vs now.
1:39 I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but this version adds back local co-op, which the mobile versions didn't have. As someone who was that little brother who played as Tails, I'm glad that a new generation of players will get to have that experience.
Hopefully they also made tails get lost less cause player 2 rarely got to do much since they lost control as soon as tails left the screen

@@RafaMarquinaYT Ah, but here's the thing: Headcannon made Sonic Mania, they had nothing to do with the Origins versions of these games outside of making the original mobile versions. Anything that was changed from those mobile versions was added by a separate team, so it was unclear how much effort was going to be put into bringing those mobile versions into this collection outside of simply porting them over.
About time Knuckles is taking better care of the Master Emerald and seems like the emeralds will be important for Frontiers...and Knuckles probably will be in it!

The trailer for Sonic Frontiers shown on this stream looks rad! The problem is, why wasn't this the first trailer with gameplay footage SEGA released?
Because they wanted to be cool and secretive. The marketing for Sonic Frontiers is presenting the game in the worst conceivable way, killing it before it's even released.

The Frontiers footage is literally the same quality that IGN showed. It's just some miniboss thing that devolves to a quickstep section, that was it. How was it even better? It's just as bad. You don't have to pretend it's magically better just because IGN didn't show it, Sega themselves are just as good as IGN at making themselves look bad thank you very much, it's their specialty actually.

Sonic Frontiers looks immensely more promising with the new trailer.
Shadow is in every sonic game (except lost world and unleashed..and colors) but the fact of the matter is, shadow is utilized more than other sonic characters Such as, tails or knuckles, Amy they are the ones we need to see more utilized

@@virus523 I can't say for certain on that, but that in itself shows that Sega or writers still give more screentime and utilization for shadow than the other characters. At least they try to do something with shadow's character, good or bad.. And excluding boom and sonic racing, shadow has been the only side character in the sonic series that's been playable since 06. That was 16 years ago since the last time we got to play as tails or knuckles and Amy (even longer for Amy). Talk about under utilized...

I cringed when Mephiles was mispronounced, but then again I was pronouncing it "Mee-files" for the longest time before I saw playthroughs.
Also everything here was exciting, I screamed when I saw Shadow in Prime! Please Sega, get his character right like in SA2, Heroes and 06! Looks like at least Knuckles is to be taken seriously again, so hyped!!

Ah! This is all so exciting! Sonic Symphony going on tour?! I really hope they come to my city, but I really doubt it (since no tours come through). I'd pay to travel to the closest biggest city just to see it. Shadow's design in Sonic Prime looks pretty cool. Not too sure how to think of the spread out quills, but they look fine. Also, I had no idea that Fall Guys will be free. Good thing I waited. That art work for Sonic Frontiers looks beautiful! I can't wait to see the full thing. The robot is looking so awesome! It looks like it'll be a challenging game for me. Can't wait to try it someday.

You've gotta remember that Flynn is writing the game. He's very aware of the criticism of Knux in the past decade.
He "did his job" in the Forces preview comic, too. And this could be literally ANY time, even a flashback. It's nothing. Y'all are so easy to win over and Sega knows it. Wake the F up.
