Hello MBV: So Relaxing Walking Out On The Marsh Areas On The Small Piers Enjoying The Wildlife There & The “Goats” :-) Grew Up On A Farm,We Had At One Time “Pigmy Goats” We I Lived At Home As A Child :-) Thanks For Sharing NC
The goats get rounded up in late fall and taken inland for the winter. It's fun to watch the process, then released back on the island in early spring.
Heard that many years ago locals were growing wacky weed out there.....they introduced goats to curtail the growing. A server at Drunkin Jacks told us that.......maybe just a urban legend
College students were seen canoeing and swimming out to the island several times, so the owner's went to the island to see what they were doing and found out that they were planting pot! So they bought in the goats to keep the island "clean".
Very nice video. We LOVE it there! Thanks PS: My understanding is that the Goats are there to eat up the underbrush and keep it from growing up! Obviously, it's working!
Glad to know that I am not the only one who thinks of Adam Sandler every single time I see a goat!! 😂😂 Opera-man will always my favorite though. Great video; will be awaiting the restaurant reviews. ☺
Drunken Jacks restaurant owns Goat Island. During the summer they put goats on the island to keep the vegetation down. A man called Bubba Love (Jerome Smalls) tends to the goats daily. They eat goat food and the scraps from Drunken Jacks, lettuce, potatoes and even hush puppies! Here is the story from Murrells Inlet 2020. "Perhaps you’ve seen the statue of Bubba on the MarshWalk near Drunken Jack’s. Bubba is the self proclaimed mayor of Murrells Inlet. The 46-year-old single kitchen worker is actually named Jerome Smalls, but through the years his nickname became Bubba Love. His duties at Drunken Jack’s restaurant, which is waterfront in Murrells Inlet, includes duties that make him visible, such as feeding the goats at nearby Goat Island. A few years ago the folks at Drunken Jack’s decided to memorialize Bubba Love with a statue of himself. His notoriety grew, and now the restaurant next door to Drunken Jack’s, Capt. Dave’s Dockside Restaurant, has remodeled its screened-in dining porch to become Bubba’s Love Shak."
Spanky McCallister My brother delivered newspapers to Mickey and he had an old roadster under his carport that he said John Wayne had given him. He said that he never drove it because a family of kittens always seemed to be in it. He was a nice man, but he would never give an autograph.
Hahha poor bubba.. He is a real person. Hes a cook at creek ratz... He did become a local figure ifnyou will... He loves his drinks and women ... Hes just an ordinary local guy who grew up in the inlet

Thanks for that one. We love it there and it's so peaceful in the morning. We are usually there for dinner when it's more crowded but still beautiful.

I kept waiting for a mention of the Dead Dog place , we ate there and it was great
I am not sure I have ever been there but I have heard of it many times. Glad you enjoyed it!
They have great live music very often. The food is just like Creek Ratz, good but not amazing. The atmosphere makes it well worth returning though.
Dead Dog Saloon. Awesome place!!

One time years ago I turned around in a driveway in Murrells Inlet- Mickey Spillane was out in the driveway. Turned out he lived there.

One of my favorite places is the Marshwalk!
I went there today so cool
There was a video a few years ahead of a hurricane where they had the goats evacuated to the mainland.
3:31 Capt. Dave's Dock Side is now Catfish Johnny's! Did you know that, Mr. Myrtle?
Where do you park if you want to take a stroll down the Marsh walk??
There is parking available!
How do you get to the Marshwalk without going through the restraunts
Ahhhhhh! Thanks!
Cool :)
