you remove surplus birds after sunset, leaving a couple to attract others, then simply neck them, some may use a pest control tool to crush skulls, others may shoot them, as long as they are given a quick humaine dispatch, whatever way suits the individual
You make the gaps as wide as the intended birds you want to trap are..that is to say the gap needs to be wide enuff for the birds body to slip through...in the case of magpies 3 inches is sufficient...=)
Im a bit bit curious over some things. How long did it take to get all those birds? How wide is it between the sticks? I just got done with a similar trap with a ladder, but its another smaller model. I got 8.5 cm between the sticks

Keep up the good work...At least those magpies won't be decimating the song birds nests come spring!...I just wish more people would control corvids!!
