There were no bagpipes in Anglo-Saxon culture. This is a modern tune played on a modern instrument. Northumbrian bagpipes were developed by makers using ideas most notably from French bagpipes. They are a product of the 18th century, only coming into their modern form (with the addition of keys to the chanter) in the 19th century. Not an Anglo-Saxon instrument, tune or musical tradition.
In the 5th century there was little more than a harp for musical instruments; instruments develop, as with the pipes used for 250 years, are you suggesting that Northumbria is not Anglo-Saxon, if not what is it?

There were no bagpipes in Anglo-Saxon culture. This is a modern tune played on a modern instrument. Northumbrian bagpipes were developed by makers using ideas most notably from French bagpipes. They are a product of the 18th century, only coming into their modern form (with the addition of keys to the chanter) in the 19th century.

In the 5th century there was little more than a harp for musical instruments; instruments develop, as with the pipes used for 250 years, are you suggesting that Northumbria is not Anglo-Saxon, if not what is it?

With further invasions, changes in religion, language, cultural practices and other economic and political changes, a new culture developed that was no longer "Anglo-Saxon."
So, no there are no Anglo-Saxons any longer and there haven't been for many hundreds of years. The culture that bagpipes were introduced to was not Anglo-Saxon, and the Northumbrian Smallpipes developed hundreds of years later under the direct influence of French bagpipes.

You see, (and, yes, I am going to be patronising because it seems I need to be) there's this thing called history, it happens over another thing called time. Nothing lasts for ever, the only constant is change. Anglo-Saxon culture is no more, however much you try to imagine the opposite.
