    Very instructive video. Several basic instructions that need to be exercised in order to use your washer correctly. Most of us do not have the time nor the motivation to sit down and read through the instruction manuals. This gives you a basic TO DO & NOT TO DO summary with any washer.

      @@lords-electrical I was just wondering for the Bosch Serie 4 can you use washing powder detergent rather than liquid detergent to wash the clothes?
      Why I ask is because in the Bosch manual it obly recommends using liquid detergents that are self flowing.
      Thank you,
      Tom.

    Honestly when I use pods they always go in the drum . Also instructions on laundry pods say to put it in the drum of the machine. And with liquid I tend to use a dosing ball and stick that in the drum same said with laundry gel.

    I have had an LG front-load clothes washer for perhaps 10 years. It has served us well. It is used daily and mostly for delicate washing of sporting clothes. Lately it has twice accumulated water in the tub when not in use and dripped on the floor. Also I noticed that it did not, on a few occasions, evacuate the water & spin the clothes. Should I simply buy a new machine and not get involved with costly service calls?

    Here's a basic question: should we put in enough detergent based upon the load mass, or based upon the maximum load mass for the chosen program? I have a Hotpoint which seems to use the same amount of water for some programme regardless of load size.

    • @joaoomega6627
      @joaoomega6627 2 роки тому +1

      Detergent is base on load weight of the clothes not the maximum load of the chosen program. No it doesn't

    • @BarriosGroupie
      @BarriosGroupie 2 роки тому

      @@joaoomega6627 I'm not sure how that works. Surely the detergent concentration needs to be the same for all loads and so for the same amount of water we need to use the same amount of detergent independent of load.

    • @johnb8956
      @johnb8956 Рік тому

      It changes the water load for the load of laundry. Regardless you’re putting in the detergent to cover the clothes, rather than the water - if that makes sense?

    • @johnb8956
      @johnb8956 Рік тому

      If you have a look at the dosing advice from a detergent manufacturer, it changes depending purely on the load size. It’s also how the automatic dosing works with systems like IDos

    Sometimes it is recommended to perform a clean cycle without laundry to clean up a washer inside. Doesn't it violate the rule of balance you mentioned in the video? 🤔

    My elderly mother bought a Hotpoint washing last week but she doesn’t understand how to operate it and she blames me for choosing it. Her previous washing was a Hoover but it was so easy for her to understand.
    No one will help us and the manual isn’t all that helpful either. Have you any suggestions? She needs to know how to operate this machine. Furthermore, the washes take hours to complete.
    By the way, what does key lock mean and extra touch? These are some of the things I don’t? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  2 роки тому +1

      The key lock will normally be the child lock facility and extra touch normally enables other options like a Rapid Option which speeds the wash up and Steam Hygiene which adds steam into the program. It is a shame as the Hotpoint machines are normally fairly simple to operate compared to some other brands.

      @@lords-electrical Thank you so much for replying to my enquiry! There’s a few more things that I need to pick your brain about which I’m not certain about.
      Instance, the cotton programme took over 3 hours to complete! Is there a way in which you could half this time? The instructional manual is so vague and Hotpoint are not even bothered about helping elderly people with any of their washing machines which you purchased from them. In order for you to get someone to come and demonstrate how a machine works, you would have to pay a call out fee for £60-£70, which I think is so unfair…
      Anyway, thanks once again for replying to my message.

    Silly question, but you're talking about amount weight for each load. How heavy are certain garments? Plus clothing gets heavier when wet. Does this affect the washing cycle then?

    • @johnb8956
      @johnb8956 Рік тому

      It means the dry weight, it’s not as important as you’d think in a practical sense, but you can search on the internet for generic weights of each type of garment. There’s tables with each garment and its generic weight.

    Hi, could I ask a quick cheeky question please? :)
    I have a modern washing machine, its a standard size, but the small house we have moved into have low windows and when the kitchen was re-fitted, they made the counter tops about 3inches lower and standard, (my cooker is nearly two inches proud than the counter top) so... I didnt have the height space to fit my washing machine in with the balance feet on it, my friend recommended taking them off, as there is no other way to move the washing machine or trim the counter too, as it is placed under the sink, the trouble is, when the washing machine is on, it rocks and moves violently and has gouged marks into the flooring, is this going to really knacker my washing machine? Any ideas on what I can do to protect my washer please?
    Many thanks :)

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  3 роки тому +3

      Really difficult to give a proper answer to this, but it does sound like it could damage the washer and floor long term. It is a shame that whoever installed the kitchen didn't put it at the correct height as you may have an issue when it comes to replacing the cooker. This is because they should be at the same height as the worktop. I know it isn't what you want to hear, but rather than keep trying to fix things i would try and get the worktop raised to the proper level.

    I've just bought a Beko 6KG machine. The first few washes were great, but the other day, I put in a Duvet Cover, along with some other things and it started making very disturbing noises and "traveling" across the floor! 😱😱 Fortunately, it "sorted it self out."
    But, I am very wary about going out/leaving it overnight for 3 hours!

    • @lords-electrical

      If you put one large item in like a duvet, then it can struggle to balance the load correctly which it sounds like that's what's happened.
