What a great trip! Back in the mid 80's i used to drive to Loreto on the Sea of Cotez side, great fishing, cold beer, awesome food. Something always went wrong on every trip and we would just shrug and say "Hey, it's Mexico". I am SO jealous of you guys right now, thanks for sharing this trip with all of us.
Wow! One of the best videos I have ever watched on UA-cam! Makes me want to go back to Baja. I think about Baja all the time but have had doubts do to all the negative news.
Just love your video. The natural environment and surf fishing in Baja is absolutely awesome! Even though you had an insane adventure, I wish I had been a third member in your party. Thank God you are both safe and thanks for sharing your amazing trip.
that was an adventure you couldnt pay for that was great i love going to baja you guys done it right you didnt panic and took it all in stride ,, that trucks running now dont need no smog ,,, they can get it running ,, that was great im planning my trip now to baja again because of this video thanks guys
"You haven't arrived in mexico until you are riding in the back of a pick-up truck being chased by dogs"... lol. Cool video looks like alot of fun! All shot on a cell phone too!
Great video and excellent narration . I did the same thing on the Gulf side drowned my brand new Nissan 4 by 4 and the local people that helped me get her out and back on the road were terrific and generous , all because of some jumping corbina.
Great video. You are incredibly lucky to have that kind of fishing available to you so close. In the UK fish of that size are hard to come by anywhere. Thanks for the video.
this is Ali from Qatar, I really enjoyed your adventure..what I like most is your high spirit! My dream is to have a truck like yours, but if that happened to me I'll defeinitly have a stroke....
one of the best fishing video i ever watch! i hit like, subscribe and add this to my favorite! reminds me of some of my fishing adventures in the philippines, and every one will stop the video when i get piss off, that's why i like your video it keeps on rolling no matter what happen.
Great video, guys. Classic Baja trip...the ones where something goes wrong are always the ones you remember...Still, I can't help think that with some self-recovery tools, you might have saved the truck - winch, traction boards, shovel, lower tire pressure... This is a cautionary tale for me and I think I will benefit from you sharing your mistake. So, thanks for that... Just a great video overall...narration was good, funny...and the background music wasn't annoying...two thumbs up!!! I've been getting my gear together for a Baja run...I'm way overgunned compared to the stuff you are using, but thinking about just running lighter flouro leaders to my 65# kelp-cutter rig braid...Lexa 300 and 400s... Have you been back? Are you planning on a trip anytime soon? I'd love to tag along with you...safety in numbers. Tight lines, amigos.
great video, I have been to Cliffs house in SQ also. Been thinking about doing this trip and really like your maps. I have a 2 wheel drive van and if I dont go right on to the beaches and stay on the high roads think I will be all right? as I watched the towns you were in it looked like most the cars were 2 wheel drive.
The truck will live from now on in Mexico. Will sell it or part it out. My friend who lives in Mexico is helping me out with this.. Hope to visit it soon!
For the corbina it was very shallow, just at the first breakers. Spotfin were a just bit further out. The halibut were pretty shallow too. We used mostly 1/2 to 3/4 ounce weights..
An epic adventure of biblical proportions...Baja, we have a problem! Hell, most of the movies I rent aren't this good. Shot on your cell phones? For real? Well done!
I've done some fishing trips in New England..... but its nowhere close to as exciting as yours.... feel bad for your truck...Enjoyed your video and the narration !
There was only one time that I thought about my safety and that was when I was walking at night on the dirt road after the truck got stuck. It was a little sketch to be on that road alone at night......
I watched the whole video, it was a lot of fun. I did a similar trip not too long ago on my 89 jeep cherokee 4WD, 310,000 miles on the speedo, yes I had few mechanical problems but nothing close to getting stuck in the surf, hell turned loose on me the last day of my trip, the gas gauge would swing back and forth, I heard strange noises from my front rt wheel on turns, wipers went off and on, 4wd never worked, strange stuff happened that never happened in 24yrs.
great job. great people that took care of you to result in an awesome adventure. i will hopefully one day have the opportunity for a trip like this. tight lines from sf bay! f33rnofish
I used straight 10 lb. mono for a period of time on this trip and still got bit pretty good. I plan on doing some more experimenting on line size when we go back down this year. This trip I used a lot of 10 lb. mainline and 6-8 lb. Florocarbon leader.
that truck is in san quintin baja norte. actually, it's in papalote....you guys know where it's at. antonio in papalote is trying to get it running. lol
Absolutely awesome. Ive heard the track where you were driving through the desert before (starts at 4:23). Could you post the name of it? Thanks! Again, absolutely epic.
BUEN DOCUMENTAL ASI NOS AN PASADO MUCHAS COSAS EN LAS ESCURCIONES DE PESCA NUNCA SABES LO QUE VA A PASAR DESDE TENER UNA PESCA EXELENTE ASTA QUEDARTE SIN CARRO EN FIN TODO SEA POR LA PESCA
I guess it is all about where you are from and the local common names for certain fish. The fish we call halibut is actually a member of the left-eyed flounder family, but it is Paralichthys californicus, or California halibut. As for the Spotfin and Red Drum, they are both in the same family, Sciaenidae, or croaker family, but they are a different genus and species. Red Drum are not found on the Pacific side of Baja California.
I do not know about the gay part, but I have had two surgeries for skin cancer, and the SPF Buff is the best solution I have found for preventing me from having a third. Not to mention the fact that it is very comfortable, and actually keeps you cool in the many hot environments that I fish in.
What hospitality was shown to you guys! Here in the States with people on the whole much more wealthy, I wonder how much hospitality would have been shown if those Mexicans were here stranded in need of help!
Although Mexican law does not require a license for fishing from the beach, I always have one just to be safe. We fished the panga, and that does require a license.
This is what UA-cam was meant for! Great stories to learn from and motivation to get out there and LIVE!
The best fishing video I've watched on the tube thanks for posting it misadventures can still be good ones.

Love this video, what month of the year were you fishing?
OMG awesome vid! I was so LOL!!! So where is the truck now? Did you leave it down there?
This is like what "Endless Summer" is to surfing... but for fishing.
For the corbina it was very shallow, just at the first breakers. Spotfin were a just bit further out. The halibut were pretty shallow too. We used mostly 1/2 to 3/4 ounce weights..
Oh Man, what an Adventure..!! but at least you enjoyed good fishing after all.

nice adventure! Why were you calling the Flounder a Halibut And the Red Drum a spotfish?
Watched the entire thing, great adventure! Were you ever concerned for your safety? I just love surf fishing!
There was only one time that I thought about my safety and that was when I was walking at night on the dirt road after the truck got stuck. It was a little sketch to be on that road alone at night......
Very nice video,

My house is your house .

Wow now that is one heck of an adventure....to bad the ending was rough loosing the truck in Mexico, but still one hell of an adventure....
Good luck antonio! It will be an interesting puzzle to figure out....

It is a track from the Final Cut Pro Editing Suite called Chelsea Loft.
Nicely done.
This was one unforgettable adventure. How much did it end up costing you total.?
BUEN DOCUMENTAL ASI NOS AN PASADO MUCHAS COSAS EN LAS ESCURCIONES DE PESCA NUNCA SABES LO QUE VA A PASAR DESDE TENER UNA PESCA EXELENTE ASTA QUEDARTE SIN CARRO EN FIN TODO SEA POR LA PESCA
What kind of retrieve do you use for the 1 oz crocodile? Also what color crocodile do you use?
Great adventure guys... lolz

How far we're you casting? What weight were you using?
Excelent video

thanks for the explanation! I am now enlightened!
HEY!!! SO WHAT HAPPEND to the TRUCK???? DID u give it to the mexican freinds???????
GREAT VIDEO!!!!
Catch and release? Or fish to eat?
What color were the krocodile spoons for halibut?
The spotfin is in the croaker family and although I have never eaten one, I hear that they are pretty good table fare.
What hospitality was shown to you guys! Here in the States with people on the whole much more wealthy, I wonder how much hospitality would have been shown if those Mexicans were here stranded in need of help!
Yea I dont think it will be that much
Although Mexican law does not require a license for fishing from the beach, I always have one just to be safe. We fished the panga, and that does require a license.
Did insurance payout on the truck?
what pound line were you using to toss the 1 oz crocodile?
We tend to stay on the lighter side of things. As I recall it was 10lb. test.
Nice I'm going to be trying that this upcoming summer
nice catch
what a journey...woow
what size hook did u guy use?
19 Halibuts?!?! geez If I can get those numbers I'd be sure to catch my first legal in SoCal.
Awesome
Awesome video, watch the full video.
It is now a resident of Baja....
what tacle???
what did you do with you catch
It was all catch and release...
Makes a long range fishing trip look cheap!
