It is beyond criminal that this didn't win best editing at Anime Boston. Absolutely masterful work, my jaw was on the floor by the end. Thank you for making this!
Just a few random factoids, for funsies: I started work on this project way back in May 2019. Yeah, it took that long. But mostly because I’m a lazy ass; I have done very little in the first year and it was 90% by January this year. Most of the video is cooked up in a single After Effects project, which was a BAD idea. The latest version is 8.6 (the numbering of my projects is entirely arbitrary and means nothing) and the project takes up 662mb, which is a lot for an AE project. Kinda sad that I didn’t get it to full on 666. In addition to the current version I also have 881 instances of this project in various stages of completion. I like my redundancies to be redundant. According to AE this project contains more than 700k missing files… I don’t know what those files are and I don’t want to know. Due to some organizational weirdness, the base run cycle of Makoto is called Boss. Therefore, most subsequent versions have boss in the name: Egyptian Boss, Slow Boss, Fish Boss etc. After releasing NDK version I received some criticism in regard to the lack of foxes in the video. So I had to delay it for one month to put in some foxes. If you think I’m crazy, then you should know that the original running scene lasts for almost a minute and contains no cycles or repeated frames.
My friend and me watching it today and it was awesome. we saw the AE crashes and know this must be real ^^. We are both in VFX industry and your Clips is awesome and needs realy more attention.
1:47 -1:54 Felt like a reference to a very specific 1980s music video, I just can't narrow it down. Which music video (if any) is it? (Yes, I am aware I already posted this, I wanted to make sure you saw it, and hopefully reply with an answer)
I have never felt such delight when watching AMV. No, calling it "AMV" would be an insult for this masterpiece. It's a really incredible and inspiring work! I wish the author to win all possible awards, he damn well deserved it!
Can I just say, after having seen this in the AMV contest at Anime Boston, it was one of the most amazing AMVs I've ever seen and you should be proud of how you were making people scream with laughter so consistently throughout it? 'Cause you should be 'cause we were.
my bf is bad with attention span but when we were sitting in the closing ceremony for sakura con (which he didn’t even want to go to) and this came on, he really liked it and it really upped his mood which i’m very glad for! it was a very nice closing and “bye bye” for sakura con and also made him look forward to next year! the entire audience obviously love it so much, i was always waiting to see which reference would be next 😂 amazing editing and it just kept getting more and more intricate which was extremely fascinating. amazing work!

Watched this on a huge screen with a crowd of around 1500 - 2000 people yesterday. I was absolutely blown away by the masterful editing, pacing and energy it was able to accomplish. Best AMV I have ever seen and I dont think that will ever change
Two minutes in, it's already the best editing you've ever seen, and from that point forward you're just asking yourself "how the fuck did one person make this"
I was at ACEN on Saturday and was meeting up with a friend real quick at the main event room but this caught my eye and I was floored by the whole thing. I’m glad to hear it won some awards!
My filmmaking friends and I saw this at the ALA 2024 and you absolutely blew us away! I truly thought that it would end at least a dozen times, but it just kept going, getting more and more insane with each passing second of painstaking work. I do not know how you created this all by yourself, but from one editor to another, HOLY SH*T is this a remarkable achievement. Congratulations on taking this concept far beyond what any sane person would have thought or had the endurance to do XD
I, was not aware of any anime fest. I just came here to listen to this song and found this AMV by complete accident. I had no clue or context to the original anime to be clear. Started to think something was off when everything was lined up in columns but still thought maybe this was part of the anime. That was, until I saw the videogame references. Fantastic job whoever you are! Gonna sharing this around my friend groups now. Glad I was lucky enough to stumbled upon it!
Hey, fellow creator and SakuraCon AMV finalist here, and I just want to say this was by far my favorite of the showcase. You deserve all four of the awards you got yesterday! Congratulations and keep kicking ass!
watching this amv at Otafest changed me as a person. This is legit so influential. Game changing. This has changed my perspective of what an AMV can be. I cannot stop thinking about how incredible this is.
This is hands down the best AMV I’ve seen in years, very glad I got to see it at Sakura Con! Congrats on the awards- very well deserved! I have to share your art with every human I know!
Originally saw this at Sakura Con 2024 and it has lived in my head rent free since then. It immediately has become the only AMV I talk about whenever they come up and I’ve shown at least 20 people since then
I thought this was the most insane amv i've ever seen and then i saw that the timeline has not even reached halfway through, this is hardcore work on top of beautiful execution. Simply cinema
I can only imagine how good it felt to upload after working on this for 4 years. Really good job on this! Your creativity and the execution on the creativity is out of this world!!
It's been 11 years since I saw PencilHead and only after watching this have I realized just how much influence your work has had on me over the years. I'm not even talking about introducing me to Fatboy Slim, I'm talking animation, love for the medium, pure passion and ability to just have fun with things. This, much like PencilHead, is a certified banger. You are outstanding and I wanted you to know that.

For now, as a very old AMV editor and still finding AMVs that bring something new to the table, I love this and enjoyed it! Fantastic work and keep it up! :)
Just saw this video at the AMV contest at Sakura Con and holy crap I was so blown away!!! The amount of EFFORT AND TIME this must’ve taken!!! Mad respect. ❤
Wow. In awe at all the effort that must have went into this, initially I wasn't reallly sure where this was heading but hands down one of my favourite amv's ever now, incredible stuff, keep it up!
I saw this showcased at Dragoncon from one of the winning categories from the AMV viewers choice awards and let me tell you my brain melted my eyes were glued to the screen and all I could say was WTF did I just watch with the upmost awe and respect for your creativity and editing abilities! 😂 This is absolutely mind-bendingly brilliant.
Saw it first at Mondocon Fall 2023. Very underrated and needs way more views, I can't even explain how much I love it, simply mesmerizing, it gives me chills every time I watch it.
I saw this during the amv contest at Nekocon, and it was by far my favorite. It's catchy, it's creative, and bursting with fun energy. It's like eye candy because there's always something new to point out every time you watch it. The long version is incredible! I know from technical standards some AMV contests won't allow a video to go past 4 minutes, so THIS is everything. Glad the recognition came in for this one!
Was looking through my old archive hdd from back in the day, found your other amvs and watched them, wondered what you were up to. Found this gem! Don't stop, ever, keep being you
Saw this literally 2 minutes ago at Sac Winter and I'm so so so so taken, it's gorgeous and so technically proficient! Every single shot I was more and more impressed with your skill, timing, comedic prowess. I'm still sitting here thinking about it.
Saw this at NDK and absolutely loved it! I haven’t finished an amv myself in many years, but I can tell the amount of work that went into this one. Awesome video!
THIS IS ABSURD. The level of detail in each frame, the way it progresses, how smooth it is. I could talk about so many things for hours, I can't think of 1% of the work this took, it's absurd nonsense. It's one of the most artistic and well-crafted things I've ever seen in my life. The commitment and dedication you put into this motivates me. Congratulations, you are amazing, you are a god. This is PERFECT in every way 🩷
Wow. I am genuinely impressed by how much editing work and effort this AMV must have taken to produce! It's such an interesting premise that's further reinforced by the creativity you implemented in each shot. Well done OP! This is a really well done AMV!
It is beyond criminal that this didn't win best editing at Anime Boston. Absolutely masterful work, my jaw was on the floor by the end. Thank you for making this!

This might be the most finely edited masterpiece that I have ever seen. Not just in terms of AMV’s, but ever.

I saw that at Sakura-con as well. This definitely got my vote for best overall, without question.

Wow. I am genuinely impressed by how much editing work and effort this AMV must have taken to produce! It's such an interesting premise that's further reinforced by the creativity you implemented in each shot.
Well done OP! This is a really well done AMV!
