Basically Marsali did "reverse psychology" on Bree without even knowing that term and she did it exceptionally well lol. I reckon if Marsali lived in the 20th century, she'd make a fine therapist.
Joanie is a sweet little girl too, she even helped Brianna. I think Laoghaire was probably a good mother, she just couldn’t control her bitterness and entitlement over Jamie.
People often become the opposite to their parents because they think throughout their childhood - 'I want to be nothing like them'. They see how their parents have failed and learn from it. Sadly so many others just become their parents.
I agree. I really do love Marsali, she is a really good and decent person, unlike her mother, Laoghaire, we saw a bit of her good character in season 3, but her personality is really beginning to shine in this season 5.
who would've thought Marsali can be kind and wise this much?with that kind of sharp tongue and humor😂I really thought she really did kill her father in the first moment😂😂😂
I love Marsali and to me it broke my heart that she went through with her father and I understand how Leary did not want Jamie to touch her.and also to think of also Joanie too there sad.
I love Marsali so much. I like her more than Bree which I didn't think I would. I hope she has a large role in season 6. I could totally see an Outlander spin-off with her.
I know right! Marsali's younger sister is a sweetheart too. And remember kindly old Mrs. Fitz from season 1? She was Loaghaire's Grandmother. Clearly Loaghaire was the "rotten apple" in that bunch Lolol 😅
@@terminologicalinexactitude and remember Laoghaire's father who asked for her to be publicly beaten. Looks like she was an orphan raised by a shitty dad.
@@aumelb Shitty parents are pitiable, but they're also not an excuse. We all have choices when it comes to being a decent or cruel person. We are all a result of equal parts nature and nurture. Much like Marsali's character proves here. She had abusive parents and realized being bitter and dwelling on/wishing that horrible things will happen to them won't amount to anything. My "father" was also an abusive narcissistic addict, but I do not and will not ever excuse away my choices good or bad because of him. Only when you do that do you give the abuser power over you and allow yourself to be a victim. A mentality that the character of Loaghaire clearly exhibits.
Also, she seemingly was mostly raised by her Granny Mrs. Fitz, who maybe has rather spoiled her a bit. Marsali was raised under more harsh conditions, wich probatly is the reason why she is more mature.
I love Outlander, and look forward to seeing and enjoying every season. However, they are wasting Talent. Each and every season by discarding Marsali, and Fergus talent. Both are so gifted.
A lot of the comments are going on about how unbelievable it is that THIS is Laoghaire's daughter. I would argue that Laoghaire is actually a decent person, (she literally took Bree in off the street) but she was somewhat spoiled and so jealous of Claire (and she has good reason for that - Jamie totally led her on) that it really brought out the worst in her. She never faced consequences for misbehaving. Jamie took her punishment when it got bad enough that her father brought her before the Laird. Sure, what Jamie did was kindly meant, and it endeared him to all of us, but it was absolutely a mistake. Based on what we know about her now, she NEEDED to be humiliated before the clan just as he needed to be humiliated years earlier for mocking Mrs. Fitz. He wouldn't be the great man we know and love today if his uncles hadn't been so strict with him. Contrast that with Marsali, who grew up in the lean post-Culloden years. She spent her childhood regularly going hungry and frequently getting beaten. With that upbringing, she doesn't have Laoghaire's sense of entitlement. When Jamie became Marsali's stepfather, it was the first time her family was on somewhat stable ground, so it is understandable she was angry that Claire showed up and took that away. But she actually got the chance to spend enough time with Claire to realize she was a good person and realized that just because Jamie didn't love her mother didn't mean he didn't love her and Joan. [Note: I'm not saying children need to be beaten. I'm saying they need discipline. It looks like Laoghaire never got it. Jamie got just enough. Marsali got too much.]
Marsali has her mother's toughness without the jealous vindictiveness and selfishness. I like her.
She's what her mother would have been had her mother not stayed a "lassie 'till she was 50".
@@hoganrichard9627 🤭🤣
Don't forget Marsali also has the intelligence that Laoghaire never possessed.
Marsali turned out to be one of the best characters of the show.
She is my favorite after Young Ian
She really did. Didn’t think I’d like her so much and yet I do.
This was very wise indeed of her. Reverse psychology or whatever the term would be, it worked perfectly. Good for her!

She’s wise AF Marsali. Hard to believe she’s Laoghaire’s daughter
Joanie is a sweet little girl too, she even helped Brianna. I think Laoghaire was probably a good mother, she just couldn’t control her bitterness and entitlement over Jamie.
She took her mother's better traits (toughness and devotion to those she loves), but she is much wiser and has none of her mother's blind fanatism.

And so young! She was like 15 or so when she married Fergus
Marsali takes after her mother's grandmother (?) Mrs Fitz(?) someone I wish we could see again; she was so charming.
Awww I miss Mrs. Fitz ❤

She will be the queen of some castle. Fergus is French nobility on both sides. You just wait.
Spoiler me please
And more than likely one of Claire's ancestors.
@@jeferrell79 that will be so cool if Diana confirms it 😄😄😄
It wasn't confirmed yet right? If I remember correctly

He’s Saint Germain’s biological son
Brianna and Marsali are sisters in every sense of the word. Marsali is an amazing young woman. Love them both and I’m so glad Claire has them, too.

In the books, Marsali is the strong one propping Fergus through personal crisis while raising so many babies.
This pair are definitely Claire’s daughters
Reminds me ofcthe scene where Jamie made Bree realise that she couldn't fight off Bonnet...
Very similar strategy, and very effective...
Exactly!
Because, Bonnet, would have killed her on the spot!
Marsali and Bree. Pair o' legends 👍👍
I love Marsali soooo much ! , she's one of my favorite characters

I had been waiting for some Marsali / Bree time ♥️♥️♥️♥️
How can Leery be her mother? Marsali is too good to be related to that conniving whiny bitter excuse of a human.
