Got the pdf, liked the setting, players were stoked in the beginning. Then after a year later got the book and stuff sitting on the shelf. Players want to play now, not in a year or two. Can't do another kickstarter based on if, maybe and when. I have a few others that I wish I'd not spent money on.
The Stargate RPG that was on Kickstarter recently and is available now made some extremely nice and relevant mechanics changes to D&D 5e. I love it. All the rules you need are also contained within the Stargate corre rulebook, unlike Dark Matter.
Completely agree with your comments about Dark Matter. I initially backed the Kickstarter for the 2nd ed. but when I started seeing all the cartoony stuff and the way they did orcs I cancelled my pledge. Not the game for me.
So to follow up, you talk about Esper Genesis a good bit in this video. Do you like running EG? Was your main issue with the recent EG game session related to the adventure? Or did you have issues with the mechanics/play?
I was almost in on the starter set Kickstarter but when I saw the book was already available I got that and was also not a fan enough of Dark Matter to get it to the table. If you want to play a space game don't start with DND. Starfinder even I thought was just ok. Loved Star Frontiers, Traveller, Star Wars for space games.
Thanks for the video. I skipped this one myself. I am still jonesing on FrontierSpace and Coriolis. I am going to do an online campaign of one of those 2 soon. I'm leaning toward FrontierSpace atm.

Have you looked at Carbon 2185? It is sci-fi (Cyberpunk for 5e).
I KS it and was really hoping it was going to be good but I was let down. Too .any errors a day the art was lacking!
