Why is outline required for only thicker fabrics ? In Saree is it not required? How will design be formed on Saree without outline?

I understand you derive the scale as 2.6 through calculation. But on what basis do you take Outline contour as 2 picks to multiply with 2.6? Is the value 2 for contour, a standard value?
