There once was a rich and devoted man named Makhan Shah. He was sailing in the ocean with his goods to trade. A great storm broke out. Thunder, lightening and heavy rain were striking. The waves were so strong his boat might sink. He closed his eyes and with all his soul prayed to Guru Nanak: "If your light is still here on this earth, I ask you to save us from this storm. I offer 500 gold pieces." Just then a miracle happened, the storm stopped and the ocean calmed. Makkan Shah was very thankful and knew that the Guru had saved him and his men.

Just one correction , puratan granths say that the enemy men shot bullet at the Guru two times , one when Guru was at home giving teachings to sangat and the other when he was meditating under the tree . But both the times the assaults went unsuccessful , and provided no harm .
