Hey Paul, that is great feedback. Sometimes you want to dig in for maximum traction, but in your case not so much. I think you may have the same issues with the R1's. Have you considered the Sun.F. 22x7x12?. They are the widest and softest off-road tire I've found so far. Any info would be much appreciated sir 🙂
FWIW, those Hakkapalitta tires are old stock. Nokian no longer produces them in that size. The current comparable tire is the Nordman 7 studded.. On my 1992 Carry I put on 155/65/14 Hakkapalitta R2 studless tires on some cheap Raceline 14x5.5" rims. The R2's are old stock as well but the tire dealer I work for was able to get a set from Nokian still.. I drive my truck to work daily.

Although Nokian is a Finnish company they opened a second factory in Vsevolozhsk, Russia in 2005. Hakkapeliitta are made there, including mine. It's 2018, the world is global now. The hakapalita reminds me of the Michelin x-ice tires we have on our suv for snow.

Those snow tires will drive great off-road. For on-road use (around Texas), just pull the studs out with a pair of pliers.
