I see you removed the 2 wires from the male end of the factory harness plug and plugged the holes with silicone. Could the 2 wires on the new knock sensor wire be inserted into female end of the factory harness? The wires from the female factory harness across from the holes that were plugged with silicone on the male end.
Maybe but I didn't want to take that side apart. Here is the tool amzn.to/2YlGuma
I went threw the hassle of doing knock sensor job myself only to find out the connector wire with these according to my mechanic are notorious for failing. So I want to first relocate with new wire and sensor on top then confirm wire is indeed the problem, then transfer to original spot under lower manifold. Thing is i want to use your method of tapping into wire going to ecm and bypass the whole potentially bad wire and original Nissan connector because I have a new Hitachi inside engine already and want the connector fit to be correct but will not have the length to transfer. Can I just add length to the new harness with additional wire? Or would it be optimal to try finding plug end to knock sensor itself then make length I need then terminate it to the wire past connector closest to the radiator.
I have a 97 Infiniti q45. Will this work on that engine as well? I know that they're both made by Nissan so I'm wondering if relocating the knock sensor would be the same method? Thank you for getting back to me ASAP. I appreciate it.
I wouldn't know
So can you leave the ends on the 2 wires you pull out of the plug and just shrink wrap the resistor to that or would it be better to cut the ends off?
Any idea if the resistor mod takes care of the rough idle caused by a faulty knock sensor, or is it simply to turn off the check engine light?
I wouldn't know. I didn't have that issue
Will the check engine light turn off when you replace the knock sensor or do you have to hook up it to a diagnostic box? thanks
You have to erase it with a diagnostic tool
Will I pass California smog if I use the resistor or relocation method? Which one will pass smog inspection?
don’t know
Thank you but that is too risky and complicated . just reach at back and use old conectio wire and conect to new sensor . that only cheats the computer . how do you know this ate the correct qires did you check pr you trust sombody else. ?
