- I’m Traveling Troy. In today’s video, I show how I go about cleaning the van, as winter comes to an end and the summer is ready to begin. I have been living in this Astro camper van for just about 8 years now. Van Life has been great, but I hint about what could be next for me in upcoming adventures. Also, I show off a fantastic new grooming device I’ve been using now for several months.

We love to see you wearing those Bellaire shirts & UH hats!
Cool Deal! I grew up in Bellaire and went to UH. I still have my Bellaire t-shirt with me, but stained my UH hat and had to tossed it. I should have picked up a new one during the March Madness run….whoops! I’ll grab another soon. 😉
good to see you back !
Glad to see your back .
Thanks for sharing! Good to see an update from you. Funny I was just thinking wow... Can't believe you've been doing this for 8 years... And then I look at myself and think, I will have been doing this for 6 years at the end of July. Crazy how fast time goes by. Travel safe!
Very true. Time does fly. Congrats on 6 years! Van life isn’t easy. An apartment or house is easy, well except for having to pay for it. 😜 I’ll continue to tack on to my 8 years, but truck life instead of van life. Glad I named my channel: Traveling Troy. ✌️
What a pleasant suprise, a video from Traveling Troy. Thank you for the update.
Thanks for following along, Anita. More videos to come. 👍
Good video! Good to see you back 👍
Thanks Matty! Working on more videos. I have 100+ video ideas, but sometimes wonder what to focus on…..hahaha! Currently have a plan though. 👍 Thanks for checking out the video.
Troy!! Its Scott! Nice to see a new video! Nice beard!
Hey Scott! Yeah, I usually go 10 days to 2 weeks, then beard itch gets to me and its time to shave. Sometime, maybe I’ll go 6 months and see how the beard looks. 👍 Thanks for checking out the video.
Glad you’re back. Missed you. Van looks great and looking forward to your adventures.
Hopefully, many more years of travel adventures to come. 😁 Thanks for following along.
Hi Troy! So nice to see you again. Eight years - that’s a long time in an itty bitty Astro. Very cool. I got a sad twinge when I saw your truck - Safari gal here. Still, I know you’ll be thrilled to take those truckin’ adventures! I saw your RTR sticker. We’re you there this year? I didn’t see you. Safe travels good sir!
Hi Peggy! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. YES! The Astro/Safari vans are super small. It’s funny when I’m sitting next to one in traffic and I think to myself - “Man, I live in one of those?” Ah, you caught the RTR sticker? Well, I did not make it to the most recent event, I have attended twice, but it has been 2 or more years. I spent 6 months on Texas beaches in 21-22 winter and have been in Houston this winter 22-23. Thanks for the comment, more videos coming…..fingers crossed. 😁

6 months on Texas beaches - ahh, life is good! I’ve had my built out camper Safari for 8 years and am currently living in it while doing a camp hosting gig in Colorado mountains, exquisite! I always enjoy your vids - looking forward to the next one.
@@peggyborden Yes! The Texas beaches are great and quiet during the winter months. Maybe not the best for swimming, but for a free place to camp….pretty good. Jealous of your Colorado mountain hosting gig. I’ve gone to Colorado in the summer for 3 or 4 years in a row and may miss this year, due to juggling two vehicles. 😉 I think I’ve done the last multi-state road trip in my Astro van….but never say never…after all it is getting hot here in Houston…may need to bolt.
He's back!! 😎
With successful pressure cooker recipes?!?
I’m back! 😉 For sure, I’ll have to share some of my cooking experiments. Ha!
@@TravelingTroy Good to hear from you! You've been missed.
How's your dad? What does he think about plans for the new truck? It's a beauty! Not a lot of oomph in a 1/2 ton for payload or tow capacity?
Thanks Kathryn! My Dad is doing fine….he rolled 79 yrs young a few months back and is doing well. Thanks for asking. He likes the change, but probably wanted me to go bigger. I’m shooting for a lightweight, get it way out in the boonies type of build. You’re correct, with the 1/2 ton pickups, you are limited on your payload capacity, but I really didn’t want a 3/4 ton truck and a 2000 lbs camper. No thanks. I’m going lean and mean. 😀✌️
@@TravelingTroy Hmm... Develop a plan for how you can walk through the light-build concept and its execution. With careful choice of wording and hashtags (what are others using in their descriptions?), this path could draw some serious attention to your channel!
For sure, I learned a lot from my 1st build series with the van, so I do plan to document the truck build. 👍
Hey long time no see!
it will be sad to see the van go but 8 years is 8 years,
I've been in my Astro for 6 years now so I totally understand,
looking forward to your upcoming video's,
Cheers!
What year is your Astro ?
Yeah, the Astro has been great. So many memories. Looking forward to trying something a lit bit different though. 👍
@@jefftaylor844 It's a 1998 Astro Cargo. I checked his vid history.
@@jefftaylor844 mine is a 2000 with 170.000 km AWD
My 98 is at 171,500. I bought it with 106,000, so not many miles over the past 8 years. I do park and chill at dispersed camping a lot for 2 weeks or so at a time. 👍✌️
Where have you been? Glad you're back.
Thanks! I just turned off all notifications for a month, then another and another. It was so peaceful. Before I knew it, a year had passed. 😮
@@TravelingTroy missed a perfect chance to just say "traveling" 😂
@@masterchief8855 True! Ha!!
As a fellow 98' Astro camper it's great to know your still out there and thriving. Look forward to your future content. Mahalo.
That’s Cool! Yep, the van is still rolling along. 👍
You're an inspiration to all Astro/Safari owners.
