I'm only in my 20s but I grew up to lovers rock They told a story through the music so beautifully Definitely a better generation of music Music was real music back then
Some things never get old and I'm 35 my mami and da used to play these loud. Especially my mami. Sunday afternoon after we came back from church while she was making our dinner. Thanks and blessings to the lovers rock reggae. I still listen to it to this day. . . 🕊️
I'm African American but I absolutely love the story of my black British brothers and sisters. I am so in love with this music more so knowing the story of how it evolved out of the struggle of our ancestors who went over to Britain for better opportunity but we're met with racism. This music kept the black people together and created a gateway for black British musical talent.
British government went to the ex colonies " inviting people" over to "rebuild the mother country" after second world War only to treat them as second class citizens.. Racism never finishes. Very covert ways it plays out on the Uk
Not necessarily...I am 47, but one of Leeds finest sounds, Jungle Warrior used to run these tunes from my family house, so I grew up on these, and these started me singing, to this day. Some of my friemds from Leeds are Lovers Rock Hall of Fame singers and people as young as 44, I woukd say, knkw these as I do, like the back of theor hand.

Just found this, two years late. I wish they would come to the States more often. There's many of us over here, who grew up on these tunes, who would come out in support. And, Kofi, just wow!!
The soundtrack of a generation when we all had the same story to tell. This told of a simpler time when we faced REAL struggle for social acceptance, whilst embracing our heritage. 1st generation born here, whilst juggling a 'back home' upbringing against western ideology... we were unified by the experiences we faced in a hostile environment and trying to be Twice as good as our caucasian counterparts.. Lovers Rock chronicled our journey through this life and time, dealing with Love, Heartbreak, Uprising and Strength. Its no surprise it has stood the test of time, as it was music created from within our 'Hearts and Soul'. Our Music, Our Story, Our History, Our Life.....Blessings and Love
This was great...hopefully next time they can have a couple of, or all of the following in studio...Lloyd Brown, Peter Hunnigale, Vivian Jones, Winsome and fly Sanchez over from Jamaica👍
