Villoresi Ambra is spectacular. A relatively affordable option with a big slug of genuine ambergris is Anthony Marmin Sheikh Al Faransi, which is a lovely attar with some Nicolaï-esque spicy florals and a dark, chocolatey base. I drained the first vial I purchased and am now on my second. It's what I turn to when I want a proper hit of the real stuff.
I was able to figure out the difference during some perfume samples test trials, and ambergris is an intolerable note for me. I do appreciate the detailed explanation and your informative channel
Oh wow, you’re the frst person that I have found that knows of Alyssa Ashley; my signature scent in my teens and mid 30’s then gone in Australia💔. I found an oil online but it was slightly stale on the skin , so I just open n breathe in for memory. My second find was Laura Mercier AMBRE (darker colour) so lovely; then gone😭Ive been wearing Chanel Coco Noir now, but am definitely going to hunt for your recommendations as I do get migraines from soooo many brands but my shnozz (all class 🤣) is more in tune to the Musky notes, those notes that make you inhale like you’re on something. So glad to fall upon your channel. Mrs D ❤🧡
GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU!! I also LOVE both of those Guerlain fragrances and want to ask you..... The original Encens Mythique D'Orient versus the newer one in the dark bottle.... How vastly different do you feel they are?? I would love to know your more detailed thoughts/opinions about this...!!
Another great one. I can't find Ambra anywhere locally. I can find Balmain Amber Gris but I wish I could smell it first. Ambra from Acqua di Parma is one of my must haves from the house and a staple in my collection. I own Ambre Eternel as well but I paid top dollar which I wasn't too happy about lol its also the only one I feel is worth owning from the line.
Your last 2 mentions I couldn't agree more with. Areej La Dore is a yes from me all day... And I too have that particular version of Encens Mythique and it is superior with it's use of Ambergris.... One suggestion if I may is a fragrance called Ambre Stone done by Antoine Lie for L'Atelier Francais des Matieres. And it has some of the most stunning citruses and ambergris I've put my nose on. ✌🏻
Eris Mxxx!!! It has large doses of real ambergris. I sprayed it on my have when I was leaving the perfume shop. I had to go back in and buy it immediately! And I never do that!
Thank you Dimi for such a broad selection 🙌 Awesome as always. However... however... I was really surprised you haven't covered O'Hira by Stephane Humbert Lucas 777, I would really appreciate your opinion on this hypnotic ancient scent :)
I have Soleil de Jeddeh, but SHL777 are not available anywhere on the Australian market, so largely need to be sampled when traveling abroad; which I havent done (thanks to covid) since 2018. You know the drill....
Hello, great review & thank you so much for your review. The ADP Colonia Ambra, does it smell salty, leathery, animalic & sweet musk??.. And do tell me hows the sillage & how it smells in the air. Thank you in advance.
@@dimitrisorceryofscent Wow, that's great to hear, thanks for sharing..I think Acqua Di Parma uses real Ambergris tincture right as you said in video??.. is it similar to the Ambergris tincture you have smelled?..
Could you tell me what fragrance has a sexy mix of Ambergris and fruit? For context my favorite perfumes are: Kirke by Tiziana Terenzi, Baccarat Rouge 540, Delina. I love Ambergris as a note and would love to find a beautiful strong yet feminine scent that features it. Always love passion fruit and sour notes. Thank you!! So glad I found this channel
Ambergris is becoming a favourite note of mine in perfumes. I'm only just testing the waters but so far, but what I love about ambergris is how ethereal it makes a perfume appear/and or perform. My favourite fragrances containing ambergris so far have been Atlante by Sarah Baker and Wish Come True by Stephane Humbert Lucas.
That's interesting. I had no idea it caused their death. I always the the reason for them creating the enzymes that coat the squid beaks and whatnot was to help them pass it easier out...well out the backside.

Thanks for such a detailed expose on ambergris, really found it informative
My easure, thank you!
Great list like always! Lorenzo Villoresi is my favourite perfumer, he has that artist touch, his perfumes are loaded with feelings.
Very much so. His Ambra is both singular and enchanting.

Thank you! Ive not seen or sniffed the Laura Mercier, thought it looks like a vegetal amber. Thanks for putting it on my spraydar ✨️

I am tickled that you've included Lorenzo Villoresi "Ambra." It is a real favorite. Villoresi is deserving of far more recognition.

I think even paying top dollar its a covetable piece for any collection; and will only increase in demand and price moving forward.
Try to find a sample of it online
When I saw the title of your video I wondered if you would mention Balmain’s Ambre Gris. I love it so much.
It really is a sensational scent!
@@dimitrisorceryofscent I actually found it a little animalic when I first smelled it. Now I just find it plain sexy

Love ambre eternal, and some days I hate it. Really moody perfume, a work of art and girls love it

It smells of all the above on skin and in tbe air, with moderate to strong sillage, dependant on heaviness of application.

I dont have one unfortunately as I sampled it over 10 years ago. 🤷🏻♂️

Yes to help it pass through the digestive tract from stomach to rectum... but occasionally resulting in a blockage or rupture.
@@dimitrisorceryofscent not sure what I was doing when I typed that 🙃 but you clearly got the gist 👍😁 appreciate the info tho 🙏
So does ambroxan actually smell like ambergris?
Not especially.
If this vials of Ambergris don't container real Ambergris then why the pricetag?
Several reasons. Other ingredients in the mix are costly, or, you may just be paying for a brand.
👏🏽
