This is the best and sweetest dog for older people who are sedentary. My Zorro was 6 weeks old when I was 45 , my 73 year old mother & I lived together. We spoiled him and he adored us in return. He lived 15 years, outliving my mother 1 year. I miss them both terribly... But have my sweet memories of our adventures together for the best 15 years of my life.😪

I’m with ya moonbeam, my sweet Lola was the greatest, passed at 15 yrs, 11 mths. She was absolutely the best dog I’ve ever had and you know what I mean! I have another one now, 4 mths and we’re working through potty training, ugh!!!

We had a chihuahua, named Juanita, when I was a little girl. My older sister had asthma and Juanita had very short, black fur 😁. She was a very sweet dog except she was extremely territorial. When my sisters and I went to hug my mom goodnight, and Juanita was laying down with her, Juanita would let us know when we had had enough lovies 😂.

Chihuahuas are great. When I was little my family's first dog was a German Shepherd (no hate to them, he was very smart and sometimes I still miss having a big dog around). Then years later my step dad moved in with his Chihuahua and we've been hooked ever since. They will surprise you and if worked with, you can train them to do cool tricks and agility (that's what I'm working on at the moment).

My chihuahua who died last year is a demon type I yet the sweetest to me... i love him. Luckily he left a son who has the same color of him so i named the new pup before him. I guess this one is the quiet one with bit of angst lol he is also very sweet like his father🥰

1:35 is as mine. He's fierce when we have intruders, wakes me up in my medical emergencies during the night, and is way and beyond the lousy family dog averyone told me he would be. Chihuahua's adores children, but they need to know they can't drop or let a chi jump out of your grip. He''l transport his treats over to them as a gesture, even if I'm the only one who notice.

I have a sweet Angelic CHI who rescued me as i was going through Severe Trauma. She is short haired Apple Head and and a rescue . Next we Adopted a baby puppy long haired , she is 5 mos and a Monster.. I am hoping it is just the baby phase... 🤤 💖🐾🐾
Also, If I might add: sometimes dogs act out or mimic behaviors of their owners. I know a Witch of a women who is horribly mean and nervous & loud. Guess what? Her chis act the same way.... just saying.

I have 2 chiw dallas and tyson omg there smarter then the kids lol....dallas is soo smart she knows English n Spanish. I cant leave the house without her knowing..she runs to the car junps in .she can walk alone and do things i cant belive...everyone knows here .tyson is a boy he is so bad he loves to eat .he is more on the childish side but knows when im home crys when i leave the house he is so cute 5 pounds tops

There's only 2 types of chihuahuas. Longhair and smooth coat.
"Apple head" and "deer head" aren't types. Either it has the correct dome-shaped head or it does not.
Chis also only come in one recognized size. There's no such thing as a "teacup". The breed is already tiny at 6 pounds or less.
And there's another type..
the Bed Hogg Chihuahua... ! there's no bed too big ... you will be left with the tiniest piece of sleeping real estate everynight of the week...

Mine too! They actually have my bb boy marked as a nice Chihuahua at the vet so no one muzzles him. I guess most of the others that go there bite when getting their nails trimmed. 😂

For real! The ankle biter comments always irritate me. I love training with my Chihuahuas and they have never bit anyone's ankles or come close to it! Stereotypes ugh!
Same! Mine is so quiet, and calm. When I took him to a new groomer and mentioned he was a chihuahua they were nervous, until I actually took him in and saw how sweet he is 😆
I had a long haired who died about 9 months ago. He was a rescue and with love and patience he was the best little baby ever. I love and miss you Buford.
How long did he live for?
He was rescued from an Amish puppy mill when he was about 3 years old. We had him for 5 years before he developed diabetes which required 2 insulin shots a day. He lived another year.

I have a chihuahua rescue too. I got her last year after my husband moved into a care home and she’s wonderful company. She saved my sanity during lockdown! She’s just had her 8th birthday and is a real treasure.
I'm happy that my chi is friendly. I love her a lot. I live alone and I only have my chi with me, and a black cat. They're very closed to each other.
I have 2 Chihuahuas both females 1 year apart both bottle raised 1 since 1 month old another since 2 days old after the mom passed away...they are my sweetest companions...they are now 3years and 2 years of age....they are intelligent..they sleep with me sit with me ride with me go into stores with me. ..i LOVE THEM BOTH I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT MY LIFE WOULD BE WITHOUT THEM...THEY ARE MY BABIES!!!

Theres no tea cup breed in chihuahua , just called tea cup as a strategy we know they are really small
I hate when a breeder uses that term…makes me want to steer clear.
I have what the vet calls a standard chi. Hes small but looks like a regular dog, had him 8 years now, best dog ive ever owned. I kept him from going to a shelter when he was a baby, im now 62, and hes well trained and easy for me to take care of, and go on walks.

Dude deer Head Chihuahuas are purebreds the same as Apple Head chihuahua. The Ranger or doe head or deer head chihuahua is the closest to the ancient Chihuahua relative that is the Techichi. Why the AKC only recognizes the breed that has been distorted by man to have the weird shape head and short snout I don't know maybe they only want breeds that were manipulated by man and not by nature.

I feel like "Chihuahua" has morphed more into a 'type' of dog, or an 'attitude' of dog than an actual breed!... and it's my favorite type! 7 years ago almost to the day, I finally had my childhood dream come true when we got two dogs after the death of an extremely long-lived Australian Cattledog, when I got my perfect chihuahua mix almost by accident! We went for one dog and I convinced my parents for two. They're both still with us, but my childhood 'distant admiring' of chihuahua types of dogs was well worth it; I really see a part of myself in these dogs! I think as long as I have dogs I'll want to have at least one of them... I say its a 'type' of dogs because chihuahuas seem to be the breed that is mixed most frequently and so many mutts bear their attributes.

Awww..such a sweet video...I have had 5 chihuahuas over decades and they ALL looked different. Maybe they were Pits and I never realized that... Lol. This video showed different types and it was fun to compare them to my babies.. watch it!!

Well, as a life long mini Dachshund mama, 5 of them, I recently adopted/rescue a 2yr old Chiweenie (mix with Chihuahua). Possibly the best of both breeds in one package! I always loved Chihuahua dogs but never had one. I can tell exactly which side of her breed she has in character, LOL. She's amazing and gorgeous. I am now learning more about the amazing Chihuahua breed because of her.
There is only 1 type of Chihuahua with short or long hair. Apple Head is the only acceptable Chi for Showing. I only buy from breeders who Show their Dogs….that way you are buying a true Chi & not a backyard bred or disgusting cruel Puppy Mill Chi…usually from Pet Shops or in the web.- always do your Research & talk to Breeders at Dog Shows & the Chi Club in your area - don’t put money in unscrupulous people’s pockets !!!

Im getting a Chihuahua next month. Do you have any advice for barking?
Christel Mae, we got a 4 year old chihuahua and he was a barker. We just made a “no” sound without saying the word and looked at him sternly every time he barked. If he didn’t stop we would put him in his crate. We’ve had him for a year and a half now and he just doesn’t bark anymore, unless he’s talking to us about wanting food, outside or to play and it’s just a single bark. He gets a ton of attention every day.
Nisa R thank you for the advice. if she won’t stop barking after the “No” sound and a stern look, we put her in the crate.., will that make her hate the crate cause we’re using it as a punishment???
Christel Mae, it hasn’t with our little one. He still treats his crate as his safe place.i believe that he has always had access to it during his life, so he calms down when he’s in it. We leave the door of it open in case he ever wants to go in even though it’s never used anymore. He likes to hide his toys in it.

I always loved dogs but never though I'd want to get one of these u till I made friends with a lady who's mother died and she inherited both of her rescue dogs and one was an apple head that came originally from dire circumstances I fell in love with this little dog and her character in the future I will get one great dogs

My dad bought a 2 1/2 week old chihuahua.. TWO AND A HALF WEEK OLD. He bought a mixed long hair chihuahua for $80 dollars. It’s costing us like $100 to keep him alive! We still love him but me and my siblings feel really bad. Like who sells a 2 week old puppy, he still needs his mom! 6 weeks too early! We are always watching him and feeding him milk replacer every few hours. He probably feels so confused ☹️🥺
