People from any country who come to the UK must understand that it is YOU who must fit in, not expect the UK to fit in with YOU. You come as a student and as such must be a student first.

UK Universities do well on the fees they receive from International students. UK Universities go round the world selling the experience students can expect and so it is important that they listen to the experiences of their 'customers'.

I actually think UK is generous. You get two years post study visa after. Technically your student visa to study not earn pounds. That is why you show your POF that you have money. The people complaining are the ones who are using student route as a relocation package . It is not a relocation package. If you want to work full time apply for jobs directly or Skilled worker visa. Manage your expectations carefully. It will het better . You just have to be patient

As a reversed JAPA being over 60 and semi retired and relocated to Abuja I've lived and worked in the UK for over 30 years as a social worker and community mental health practitioner.
What this video clip made me realise is many young Nigerian JAPAs going to the UK don't do their homework. The reality is the UK owes you no flavours so be prepared for the realities that the universities just need your money asnut funds their development as many UK young people don't aspire to go to university.
My little advice would be to always apply for part time jobs, read the job specification and try to show how your life experience can match to the job spec.
Also learn that not all the news you get is true.
As for experience while you are waiting for the 3 months experience try to attend a few online lower level courses or do some volunteering.
At the end of the day you are all young so enjoy the experience it's all a growing experience and remember the UK is a leveller and no job is considered too low but should be seen as a start to getting experience to move up.
Finally try to join relevant student networks

When I listen to Nigerians talks about searching for job, it surprises me.
We talk as if, other people are responsible for creating jobs for us, and remember jobs don't grow as population grows. The more we run to some western nations, the more there will be lesser jobs for us.
The earlier we learn to create jobs for ourselves the better for all of us.
The UK government has just used your head in the name of education-collect your money..
Nigeria cannot be better, when we keep running away!!

When people say “I will earn more than I earn in Nigeria” or comparing rent with that in Nigeria, it worries me. I think students or young professionals in UK should start comparing their earnings to the standard in UK. E.g a HR officer newly hired in the UK should benchmark his/her salary with the average IN THE UK! Not comparing it to that in Nigeria. Else, you might be shooting your self in the foot and not know because you think you are doing well than someone in Nigeria!

We all needs to work hard to make our country better, we are been treated like nothing in people's country because they knows that we are from countries that are not doing well, so we have no options than to fit in to whatever is going on here. May the Lord heal our country 🙏 we are indirectly living like slaves, because you are working not because you like the job but because, you need it to survive. I nearly cried watching this.

Today the progress I see in my children’s lives is worth every tears i shed to settle them here. Pls hang in there, manage your resources, it’s unfortunate they don’t have much jobs for students unlike here in USA. Life abroad is not same back home but I will choose it again and again. These guys needed the right advise to prepare them and plan for the life in the UK. Most agents do not know the locations nor understand system they send people. They are after their commissions, and it’s free service, that’s what most people like, because they feel it’s free. In the end it cost more and making them feel less about themselves. It will be more cost effective paying for professional services that will give you a comprehensive & holistic information, advice and guidance. I am based in the UK and I know there are lots of jobs for young graduates. You don’t need to be going for those low paid job. The employers assume you are not going to be there for long hence they don’t want to employ too many international students. Instead get internship in your field of study, network and connect with employers so that when you are done with studies they can employ you. It has worked for many students we deal with, and they are on good pay. So connect with the right people and these narratives will change.

These are normal challenges most immigrants face abroad. If you did your homework properly you wouldn't be surprised. Most Nigerians are poor in researching, Middlesbrough will give you 'cheap' tuition but the economy there is dead, so if you are planning to work and pay your tuition it won't work because the jobs are not available. It is advisable to move to cities where the economy is vibrant and your chances of getting a job increases, however schools there might be more expensive. Most people join the japa bandwagon without proper research and start wailing when things don't go there way. People have their individual reasons for relocating but abeg do your research and prepare for the worst case scenario.

You are right but I don’t I agree with every point you made. This research you are talking about , is it accessible on gov.uk website? NO ITS NOT. is it a research you find as qualitative research . NO. It’s a research of hear say or you finding someone who will honestly open up to you and say this is not going to work based on experience. How many people or videos on this UA-cam have you watched that has the analysis of this research you are talking about. If not videos like this very one ☝️ which is rare on this UA-cam field. So homework you mean is not applicable in this context . Not everyone has family and friend in over seas , some folks are the first to actually travel out from their linage. Allow people to make their mistakes , wail over it , pick up their self and learn from it. Don’t judge or out rightly put out a condemnation without fact . I believe almost everyone had done an intelligent homework of looking through the verifiable data of the individual location they picked their schools from before making the move. The regrets are in the reality . And reality is having videos like this to inform others . More of this ! @prudence well done for putting out a video like this 👍

I heard you all. This is Internet age,it is good to get information before moving abroad to avoid "culture shock" and adjust to the new norms in your new home. (Europe). The teething period is always stressful and hard to sail through in western world but have goals of making it through hard time.. With time ,things will get better and you will be happier later and achieve better things in Europe .Have a nice stay in Europe .

I think a lot of people problem is the mindset they had before migrating...i think movies don't help matter because it depicts rosy some like heaven on earth.. Be modest, have dignity in all labor...Mindsets needs to be renewed because you can't compare the pros you would get overtime...stay focused. The system favors you when you deserve it unlike Naija where a lot of odds are against....Unfortunately, our government in naija is not helping matters if not who for japa

I watch this with great sadness, the great African Leaders like Zik,Awo(Of Nigeria), Nkrumah Of Ghana, Jomo Kenyatta Of Kenya who came to Britain in the 1940s thought by now in the 21st Century Africa would have been industrialised and this current generation won't have needed to travel out of Africa. Its so sad!. I hope if you have friends coming to Britain to study, go to Universities that are in London OR go to Oxford or Cambridge(but Its expensive). But I trust African Students they are resourceful and hardworking. I know that because I was once one.

One thing Africans must understand is that Student-Based Immigration is a revenue-generating collaboration between the Govt and the Universities. Home students enrolments are fast decreasing as demand for university degrees is dwindling. International Student Immigration is a cash cow for these dying schools. In the grand scheme of things, this is another form of wealth transfer from Africa to Europe. Just imagine how much money Nigerian students and their families are pumping into the UK economy for visas that don't guarantee stay beyond the degree program's duration. AFRICANS NEED TO WAKE UP!

Research before travel. The fact is they issue visa expecting you to study and work for very few hours. There is no short cut in U.K. Be patient you will get expeience and apply for suitable jobs. Furthermore check how you write your C.V. The C.V is usually job specific, read the Job description and write your C.V as per What they are looking for. Once you master how to write a good U.K C.V, you will get employers calling you.

We all want to be in Nigeria but let's tell ourselves the truth, this country has long been hijacked by criminals and that much is obvious from the ongoing crises in fuel scarcity, naira scarcity and incessant kidnappings etc.
One useless policy can end you, that is the uncertainty that people are running from.
I personally am tired of contributing ransom money for my kidnapped colleagues.
With all the complaints about abroad being hard, naija is not easy either.,especially for us doctors.
You can't do anything for patients, people come to you and are so poor but can't afford treatment, how much can one take before breaking down?
    Try doing surgery without electricity.

Like Ridley Road Market in Hackney London or similar markets in Moss Side Manchester where you can get a whole chicken for under £2 and 3 tins of tomato plum for £1.

Any country you move to will ask if you have work experience in that country, you have to remember that Nigeria is seen as a developing country in the western world and they feel you won't be up to western world standards. Trust me, once you have gotten experience under your belt, you will get more job offers because you are tried and tested. We should never forget that the western world is unforgiven you have to work hard to get what you want and that means fighting against all factors so let's not be fooled that when you get there everything works in your favour.

Please take those skills and go back home, use your experience to change home gradually. If you guys know what will be happening to the UK and European countries in the next decades with recessions and declining standards of living coming, I don't think they will be giving the good jobs to you guys, it does not matter what you have to offer. You lot saying that 'when the country gets better you will come home' should revisit that sentiment because who will make the country better if not our young, progressive professionals. The country that you are going to enjoy achieved their own comforts and ease over many years of hard work and consistency (and yes, a fair amount of good leadership). But there is no place called Heaven on Earth. It is sad to watch my contemporaries leave in droves. I hope you find what you are searching for eventually. Nigeria will be better than you can ever imagine. Just watch and see small drops of getting things right build an ocean of the country we desire.
