Thanks for the words of wisdom and pointers. I just about started doing this without the beer and that would of never worked 👍
You’ll also need some beer for this job and maybe some paper towels lol I love it . Good video .
Thanks, you saved me some $$
Hey! I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this video. We got this truck for my son and it's a great truck, but was needing this power steering pressure hose replaced, as it was spewing fluid everywhere. I am not a mechanic. I am a 36 year old respiratory therapist, mother of 3 from TN! I was able to do this myself and exponentially cheaper than taking it to a mechanic. Thank you!
Respect!
Right on! Way to get it taken care of!
This is why we do what we do. Easy to do, a little dirty but what isn’t?
I'm here for the other line!!!
Nice 3 wheeler!!
Thank you.
Thank you it's was a great video.
Your video confirmed my line is indeed the pressure line. Thank you from 7 years later
you are doing a video for idiots like me who would like to see it done before jumping in and screwing something up,, its what I am good at ! Thank you for doing it!
Thank you so much. I'm a 13 year old car enthusiast. This will be my second fix I'v done to my dads 1996 suburban which is the same truck if you didn't know. Just more like a van rather than a bed in the back. This has helped so much!
Three of these videos helped me, draining the pump with the syphon is a must, also turn the wheel all the way to the right it moves the drag link out of the way so you can get your hand in there. I like the crowfoot wrenches they help and relocating the front line so it rests between the shroud and the fan puts less stress one it. You have to bend the pipe a bit to get a nice fit, leave the top fitting off just curl the hose and you can get the bottom one on, its hard to do but patience pays off, thanks for the tips.
+springermaniac You're very welcome!
thanks for posting. i have a leak in a 97 GMC Sierra. gotta fix it and this was very helpful. good to see that you use beer as well!
I've got the same truck, same year with the same problem. Thanks for posting this video buddy.
Thank you sooo much for making this video!!! Even though you say you dont know why your making a video on how straight forward this is. I really appreciate it!
whats the length of the extension?
I worked on the hose thats conected to the power steering pump from under the truck. It was hard to tread it one with one hand but at least you see if its is on straight. And not cross treaded. This vidio helped alot thanks so much.
Great video, best of the bunch on this repair! You're the only one that mentioned using a crow's foot instead of a box-end wrench, turning the wheel lock-to-lock to bleed, and making sure system was completely warmed up before checking fluid level.
98 izzuzo rodio
Being Canadian based off several key factors of the video, does crown royal whiskey count in replacement to beer? Asking for a friend 🎉😅
My 98 2door has been leaking like the titanic. THNX for the vid.
Haha, glad I could help. Thanks for the comment!
I like it that you tell what sizes of wrenches to use
have the same truck with the same hose leaking thank you a ton brother. gunna hook the new one up in the morning
This was a good video. Just picked up the new hose. Now I just need truck.
I'm about to change my hose on a 1997 Suburban K1500 and I've already done this on a 1995 Silverado K2500 but I wanted to make sure I don't mess it up and you have a ton of useful information in this video. Thank you for taking your time for us newbies.
Is this the same for a 95 5.7 k1500?
No sir don't say you don't know why you're doing a video on this there's somebody out there that needs some help and I need some help this video may be old but I got a 97 Chevy Silverado too and that damn thing busted and I'am glad your video is here to help
Great video, I just bought my neighbors 1994 Silverado and this matches up pretty much the same. I have a massive leak on that pressure line and I was intimidated to attempt it but it looks really easy. I cant wait to fix it now. Thanks for posting this up.
You're very welcome man, I hope this helps!
@@MidwestGarage It did help. The worst part of the job was removing the dirty hose, which I should have cleaned first, but to my defense it was 26 °f outside. I did buy the wrong hose at first so I took the old one out and took it to the store to match it up. I did this yesterday after coming back from the salvage yard. Now I have one more leak to fix where the drive shaft and the transmission meets and figure out where the rough start is coming from and I'll be good to go!
@@fr33ourminds Awesome! If you have any other questions or anything let me know.
@@MidwestGarage Will do, and thanks again
great vid! only suggestion id add is specifiy to using line wrenches its easy to strip the crown on the lines.
Oh for sure, thank you for the suggestion! I've gone through a couple lines now throughout the truck's life so I'll definitely use that next time!
Same truck, same problem. Fixing tomorrow, great tips, thanks.
Awesome, I'm glad this helped you out! I've blown out a couple of these now...must be a common issue with these pickups.
Thanks for listing the tool sizes. Made for a quick job on a 99 k1500 burban
Thanks for taking the time to put this vid' together !
Also wrench sizes, and confirmation could use crowfoot 'wrench' set. Depending on cost of them, may do both (?) lines.
Actually recently purchased a siphon pump when on sale at P'A' for extracting water from a yard water fountain this fall, but never used so will likely use it for this appli'. , next chinook. ;-)
Had noticed fluid at the left line connect and fluid below, so likely found why the reservoir was empty a couple months back & brakes had gone soft to almost the floor when engaged ;-) , while finally rerouting my block heater cord down thru the front air dam at the driver's side hook. That after replacing the batt' as the min. 5 yr olde I fd. dead 3 days previous at -14c . Finally warmed up by past Sat to a balmy -5c so decided to install batt' same day purchased surprisingly cheapest local source, a ACDelco gold 78vgp800 at local GMC dealership, ..... and then decided to also do the cord reroute before the next forecast cold front & snow rolled in Then a (probable pcm relearn) cruise, before shutting down at 1130ish pm. :-)
Same truck, problem and color, cool 😎
Thanks for the video man🤘
so i was having fun with my 96 chevy, and out of nowhere i could not steer. i lifted my truck up and i was moving the steering wheel and my wheels moved fine. i need help.
Hey what's the opening song
Damn i hope this is all i need to do,i was thinking of replacing the pump unit
glad u made the vid, ive been putting off doing mine wanted to be sure that was the correct method didnt wanna damage the lines with the angle change to the shroud..
Yes, I had a heck of a time lining up the threads, on both.
been at it for 4 hours to get one threaded in 😐😪
Thanks for the video, it helped me out
I can't get pump line on
Thanks mate for sharing this. Yes, even though it is kind of a straight forward job it is always very useful to watch someone do it the right way first. Thanks!
is it 18mm or 19mm crow foot
Once again I have to wrench on my truck and I found your video on how to fix my shit. Thanks for the walk through and the heads up on the cross tread. I love labatts blue as well.
Micky McSabot Glad this helped man!
thanks for the video,I'm doing this today.
Thanks for the video
Just enough to get me to do this myself. Thanks!
Man!!! this is a life saver post thanks! bout to try this today
+OEM ONLINE Awesome! Hope it helps!
Successs!!!!
It Says this line doesn't fit my 96 silverado...the line I got looks slightly different.
This helped a ton thanks
Thanks for the comment man, I'm glad this helped!
I know this is a old video but that makes me laugh that labatts blue can says "imported" bc i live where its brewed in Canada so its just odd to me
I wanted to know the size of wrench before I started just incase I didn't have it so thanks for the video lol
i like the Brand New intro
Don’t let dude fool you… really straight forward my ass myn won’t tread in so here I am. Done did lost it tryna fix this stupid shit. 😂 oh and I have beer and DIP
Excellent video, thank you. !!!!
Thanks!
definetly need some beer !!!! for every job !!!
Yeah buddy! Thanks for the comment!
oh, and i was able to install the new pressure line, its was a bitch, but beer definetly was helpful !!!
Outstanding!!
Thanks for the vid huge help !
Thanks. I would've liked to actually see where the line connected to the PS pump.
+Stephen Dee You're welcome! I figured I didn't need to show that part since you find out where it goes when you disconnect the old one. I will keep that in mind though, thanks for the comment!
+Midwest Garage Funny thing: The whole time I was doing this job, I couldn't see what the heck I was doing at the back of the pump! I had to do the whole thing blind as the only way to reach around back there was when my head was in a position that I couldn't see it. Hence my desire to see, in a video, ahead of time, what it all looked like when it went together. It took me nearly two hours, and most of that was figuring/finding out how to get the line off the P/S pump, and then carefully threading it back in so that it wasn't cross-threaded. Really frustrating when you can't see the alignments etc
Oh I hear ya, that is a difficult spot to see what you're doing. I could have done a better explanation of it in the video that's for sure, it was just easier for me to visualize since I've worked on these engines when they're pulled from the vehicle before.
Much appreciated!
Haha thanks man. I’m doing this now.
Thanks for the upload! What fluid type brand did you use and/or recommend?
thank you sir!
BingeCenter Hey no problem! I know it's not a difficult fix but I hope the little pointers helped out!
How did you get the line off from the back of the pump?
Thanks for the Great video. why do they break in the winter and not in the summer?
The extreme cold makes everything stiff and brittle. Especially when it comes to any type of rubber material like brake hoses or power steering lines. Also, it would make things too easy if they only broke in the summer haha. Thanks for the comment!
Vid was good 4 lettin me see how the long ass line went down there
Huge help. Always make the video 🙂
Thanks for the video! Just replaced one on my 1997 Suburban and it helped very much. I've done this before but about 100k ago and wanted to brush up. The trick to start with the bottom hose first and rest the top line in the fan shroud was the key.
Thanks again, keep posting!
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad I could help! I'm also glad that it wasn't just me that that little trick worked for!
Thanks. Just need to know what wrenches to get.
In the video I mentioned what size wrenches.
Ty so much for this video as I’m getting ready to do the same job and your video helped me a lot ps what is that yellow cap for
Awesome, you're very welcome! Do you mean the yellow cap on the line? That's just a plug so dust/dirt doesn't get in there, and then you can use that plug on your old line when you pull it off so it doesn't make a mess. Thank you for the comment bud!
anyone know how to get the high pressure hose off that has a stripped n looks to be crossed threaded any help asap will be awesome
Which side of the fitting are you putting the oring on? On the end of the little horn, or in between the collar and nut?
+bigbadhairyballs When you purchase the new pressure line the directions will show where to put the O-rings. I wish I could give you a black and white answer but I can't remember exactly.
when changing, show which hose is fluid out to gearbox & fluid is back in to powersteering. some could create a problem & have no powersteering, thanks.
Am i screwed i i don't have any more beer lol
Haha yes, you'll have to get a refill to do the job properly!!
thank u..
What about that 200x ?? No mention of it at all and its the nicest vehicle in that garage!!
+CC NH Haha thanks. You should check out the channel, I have a few videos with the 200x! Nothing special but a video of it rippin' around and a cold start video.
.
Midwest Garage
Any video with an old three wheeler in it is a good video to me!!!
That 200X though!!
So the side that goes next to the radiator, is the bold supposed to be flush or will it be tight and still be able to see threads?
I have a question, I was like 20 miles from home when my power steering went out drove it home cuz I had 2 kids with me well when I got here figured out it was that hose had blew off I keep Lucas in my power steering cuz it had a leak but my question is do you think I messed it up driving it home? Its a 1999 Cadillac Escalade. I'm sorry I'm a girl idk what I'm doing and my husband is not around right now to help so I need to know what to do!
Thx for advice dunno y this line got a pin hole in it but anyway while I was down there I saw a plug on PS pump it was disconnected any idea what its for or y its off I didn't remove it had trk bout year or so thanks cheers!
I'm wondering if it's a replacement pump. Sometimes they have holes for different applications, and if they're not plugged up with mounting bolts they will have a plug. If it wasn't tight or sealed correctly the plug could've slowly worked its way out. That's the only thing I can think of.
Also, those lines will eventually get pin holes from normal wear and tear. There's a decent amount of pressure in those hoses! Thanks for the comment bud!!
The beer sold me on the video. I was like oh yeah this guy is about to drop some knowledge on us.
Great video!
Indeed don't forget the beer ;-)
Haha, yup! Hard to get anything done if you're not properly hydrated!
any symptoms besides leaking hose? i get a nasty whistle/whine when my pump is warmed
thesmoothone if your pump is whining it’s low on fluid and is sucking air
nice 3 wheler
I keep having a problem with the bolt that goes into the steering column it keeps cross threading at the angle it supposed to sit
I am doing a 1991 Silverado and the pump end came off when I tried to remove the old hose from the pump. Ii was impossible to get a wrench on the pump hose fitting because of the tight space. I had to break the old hose off at the fitting because I couldn't a wrench on both the pump end and th fitting. Easy my butt.
I've never heard of that issue happening before, I'm sorry it didn't go more smoothly for you.
I'd be the one person that cross threads the part that goes into the steering gear
ey midwest wat size is the pressure hose n is it the same size for a 00 escalade 5.7?
My PS lines run through the FRAME??????? What gives??? They are longer than what you show????
Yowser....
exactly same vehicle?
Did your line take o-rings? Just replaced mine and didn't notice any rings, but im still leaking like a stuck pig
Old "o" rings were still in there.!!
dont know why u did video either cause u didnt show anything about how to get to bottom line. i cant even see the fitting on my 99 2500
thumbs up for beer reference
Come on! You show me the beer but you can't put on the washer so I can see where it goes. Thank you for the video keep doing keep it simple..
yea beeeeeer!!!!
(LOL you also need some beer i) did't think you would say that, aslo where do you live that you had to wait for above -0-F
Adnan Muric Thank you for the comment! I'm in North Dakota. That was the first day in a long time that it got even close to 0°F. Had to take advantage of the warm weather!
I just spent 2.5 hours on this wretched task. It should have been
pretty easy, but, the cheap China hose I bought had the mandrel bends
way off so one end pressed against he steering box and woudn't align.
It takes awhile to bend it right as its easy to kink it. Note everyone:
avoid this brand, "Sunsong."
I put 2001 pontiac bonneville sle power steering high pressure hose and there is never my car
Aucune vidéo :-O
Omg a 250r is not a workbench
Useless.
Silly but do you ads the fluid before you turned your tahoe on? Your video helped alot but im confused on that part.
Yup, fill it to the full mark and then start the engine and turn lock to lock to burp any air outta the system. After a while shut her down and recheck to see if you need to add a little more.
