The Premier League is the richest football league in the world. Six of the top ten clubs in Deloitte’s Football Money League are from England, as are eleven of the top twenty.
But the gap between the Premier League and the other top European leagues shows no sign of reducing. This video will show you why that gap is only expected to grow.

The EPL needs a program where they send some money down to the championship, to make sure that gap doesn't get too big. Because if the same clubs go up and down every year, they might as well do the Super League already.

Prem is willing so long as the 3 relegated teams give up their broadcast money owed. EFL clubs are thought to be amenable.
They already do, the PL currently shares around 15% of income with the EFL and that percentage is set to increase closer to 20%. That said, unfortunately a big chunk of that amount is the parachute payments that relegated clubs receive. IMO those payments should be reduced, and more of that money should be shared out to other clubs across the leagues not just the relegated ones.

All the money and other factors to the side, here in Sub Saharan Africa the popularity of the premier league is unparalleled and undisputed. Yesterday for example the amount of people gathered in pubs just to watch the Manchester United vs Liverpool game was insane and it trumps the number of people who watch elclasico in the same venues.

You have to consider the fact that countries in Africa were largely colonised by the English and the French. This means they are likely to follow English clubs with English commentary, English analysts, etc, than Spanish ones. Add that to the fact that there is more viewership of English content in English speaking countries than there is Spanish content.

what more interest me is the gap between championship and the PL, all 3 promoted team this season were all bullied and surely will be relegated again directly while last season 3 promoted team were successful to survive staying in the league, the difference ? Fulham, Nottingham, and Bournemouth were all spending close to 200 mil euros just to improve their squad, and that is crazy, the fact that every team needs to spent about 200 mil euros just to survive the PL.
Bournemouth didn't spend like that though, if you remember that's what forced Scott Parker to leave the club.

Its crazy, I will be surprised if any of the newly promoted teams stay up this season. I thought Burnley might do it but it's clear Kompany is unable to adapt his philosophy/style of that is not suited to when you are a little fish in a big pond. I understand the logic behind parachute payments but they clearly don't work either and are ruining the championships making it far more predictable with parachute clubs constantly yo yoing.

Of course, the higher wage inflation in other leagues is also a direct consequence of the wages paid in the Premier League. Ultimately, the Premier League's choice to opt for a route of hyper-commercialisation is having an inflationary effect on football Europe-wide, which means that those other leagues are also under pressure to keep increasing their revenue. That way initiatives like the Bundesliga deliberately keeping ticket prices low are going to become increasingly difficult.
Not really. Germany just doesn't care to compete with the Prem. They are happy letting Bayern win everything and make their money by selling young players to the Prem for sky high prices that the Prem is happy to pay.

@@americansoccerunited not really. It suffers under the compromise to compete with other leagues while (unfortunately only sometimes) adhearing to the demands of the fans. In theory the Bundesliga shouldn't have any investors either, although the executives at the clubs keep finding loopholes to further commercialize the league
@@americansoccerunited It's not a matter of caring. As you can see in the video it's basically impossible for any other league to compete financially. And it's not for a lack to try to at least keep up somewhat. And of course, that's all they can do really. Ultimately, money is power and it gives whoever has the most of it the ability to drive the price level while everyone else is doomed to try and play catch up. That's why it makes no sense from a sporting perspective to run football like a commercial enterprise that's free to seek out new growth opportunities without linking this to automatic redistributive mechanisms.
@@B2leave Rubbish. There is more money than quality players in the market for over 10 years. The only thing PL clubs do is buy easy interchangeable players for 3 times what their quality is worth and at best only marginally improved. They are idi0ts paying 50 for a player that is easy to replace for 20.
Craziest part about it is that the fans don't see any of the benefits kickback through ticket prices. Sure there are protest signs made but a bigger effort has to be made to return the people's game to the people.

La liga's wage bill ratio is bumped by RM and BCN, just like PSG does to ligue1. Also, the solution is simple, selling clubs have to fleece premier league teams. They have more money, they can spend more. Man Utd already suffer this, the way they got fleeced for Anthony was magic.
It’s not that simple. Teams in other leagues do not have capacity to bargain , they are already in financial crisis and in need to sell players to raise money. But pl teams do this all the time cause they already have enough money,like West Ham. They can afford to keep players even if transfer falls outs.

One of the best decisions PL made at its inception was the equal distribution of broadcasting revenue and other commercial deals. Handful of clubs hogging in the other European leagues made them a one or two horse race, thus reducing the popularity of the league in the long run.
But Hasn’t the premier league been a one horse race the past 7 years with Man City? And then in the 90’s and early 2000’s it was a one horse race with Man Utd. I think it’s a bit of a myth to say ref premier league is mega competitive
@@mrlj1412 what op is saying is that equal distribution of revenue means things are fair. Every club itl is rewarded with a minimum foundation to build upon. In the other leagues that's not the case. In La Liga, Barca/Madrid/Atelti take almost 44% of the broadcasting revenue. There's an imbalance structurally which gives them an advantage over the rest of the league. Considering that every club has a salary cap, those three clubs will have more to spend and thus will always be in a title race.
Take Villareal, they won the Europa league 3 years ago, and beat Bayern in the UCL quarter finals. They were at an upward trajectory. However they were slightly over the leagues salary cap. So they had to sell all of their good players. They couldn't adequately replace these players because they were too close to the salary cap so they signed poor replacements. Now they're in 13th place, 6 points above the relegation zone. All of this due to the fact that they are in a league that does not care about them
@@mrlj1412 Man City winning it doesn't mean it has been one horse race, Liverpool went toe to toe with them till the last week of the season twice and lost only by 1 point both times. Arsenal bottled it last season and in 2016 we got to see Leicester miracle season. Not to mention this season the title race is even more exciting
@@mrlj1412 This is a common misconception, the prem has the most competititive top 6 race out of any other league. It's not just a case of looking at the winner at the end of the season. The prem has had some insane title races lately, liverpool missing out on 1st place twice within 1 point. The european coefficient rankings also show the prem has had the best top 6 in europe for the past 7 years in a row
you are wrong though... Even though MAn united and Man city have won plenty of trophies... various of their wins were close with Liverpool and MAn united had really close titles races as well ...

Maybe now you can see why Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid are so keen on the Super League.
That was never a secret. We all knew why those clubs in particular were so keen on it but fans still had nothing to gain from it and in the case of said clubs the damages were self inflicted.

Let's not forget, a relegated club in the Premier League earns more money than the winners of La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. Every Premier League gets the fair share of the broadcasting revenue while other don't(I'm looking at you La Liga) though the Bundesliga are catching up. To be fair on the Bundesliga they want to keep the game pure as possible hence the 50+1 rule but with the money Premier League club owners pump into, it's going to be hard for the rest to close the gap. There's a reason why Florentino Perez was desperate for the European Super League. The rest of Europe's Top 5 leagues can't compete financially and the gap will get wider every year.
And the super leauge helps with that how? It doesn't matter if the gap is between pl and bundesliga or super leauge and bundesliga

Yet 2 of the 4 EPL clubs completely crashed out of the Champions League while 4 of 5 Spanish sides won their respective groups and are through to the knockout stage. 3 of 4 German clubs are still in Europe Competitions. All 4 Italian clubs are still competing in Europe.

Its all well and good about the PL but you are forgetting to explain how 2 clubs are nation sport washing owned clubs and a few of them violate FFP rules by generating income that is not directly from their football business. La liga on the contrary is being very forceful in having strong FFP rules to make clubs more sustainable. That is a big consideration that needs to be included in the analisis.

Not a massive worry, a lot of teams have managed to stay up recently despite the odds Eg. Brentford, Forest, Bournemouth, Fulham. Even Palace and Brighton before that

They're not old but they're more seasoned than alot of Burnleys squad and many of their young players like saka have experience playing in the prem.
Competition for Premier League’s Champions League spots are usually restricted to its top seven to eight clubs. Unless you are the two Manchester giants, Liverpool, the big three London clubs, and to a lesser extent Newcastle and Villa, you won’t be getting anywhere near the Champions League. So if a club wants to outbid AC Milan and Napoli, just in the hope they can finish top ten in the Premier League, if I was an owner of a top Italian clubs, my reaction would be ‘you’re welcome to these players’. Because in the real world, as good as their club valuation looks to Deloitte & Touché, the Bournemouths and Brightons are closer to the Championship than Champions League.
And that’s another thing. If one league does become ‘too dominant’, there will be a recorrection. Simply because qualifying for European competition would lose its value for clubs in the dominant league meaning the only relevant issues with the Premier League would be the title and the battle against relegation. If that results in a duopoly, people will lose interest in this league, and turn to showing interest in other leagues. The financial dominance, comes with its own future issues for the Premier League. There’s a reason people say things move in cycles.
The Premier League’s huge interest is in Asia-Pacific (except India, Pakistan and Bangladesh), English-speaking Caribbean and Africa, Middle East and North America especially English-speaking cities such as New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Denver and Seattle where the broadcasting rights are their biggest drivers to pump their money to the Prem’s piggy bank. All Big Six teams are shared evenly compared to those other four who are uneven like La Liga who still sticks to Barcelona and Madrid rivals such as Real and Atlético Madrid. English language is part of the league’s DNA that is derived from the country’s soccer culture to understand them from the outsiders. Southern California, Texas and South Florida however still stick to La Liga, not the Prem even those from Montréal, QC still watch Paris Saint-Germain’s story in Ligue 1
Premier league have pretty big fanbase here in India ( many don't have any idea about our National team but they can tell starting XI of big 6 PL clubs)

Very interesting! Did you also account for the fact that the Bundesliga has fewer teams and thus fewer games? Based on these figures you'd have to assume that the PL is clearly ahead but looking at the Champions and Euro League each season it does not look like it so maybe the Bundesliga for example is spending money more wisely?

This is why transfers for premier league clubs will continue to increase. Take Antony for example there is no way he was ever worth 80 million. Then of course he will never live up to the price tag because it is not realistic to begin with. This is one of the few ways for other leagues to stay competitive in europe. Sad that a super league already exists...

United didnt want tk spend that much as they were hoping they could still get Frenkie de jong to join. When those plans failed they revisited the idea to get antony, and this was then in august so obviously ajax isnt going to just give their best player when the season is already going on so thats why he was that price. Compared to Serie a, It's not mentioned that most of the Premier League teams are owned by American and Arab billionaires, while most of Italian teams belong to smaller Italian owners, also Inter and Milan which are top 3 in Italy still dont have real owners other than this funds that keep everything afloat at best

English teams also own their stadiums which are big revenue earners. In Italy the majority of stadiums are rubbish sadly and council or local authority owned.
It's more interesting to see not how much was earned but how it was spent. For the fans, do we get more value for money, and for our teams are we seeing greater competition. Over the history of the Premier League, there has never been more than a two way battle for the League titles, generally over different eras there was one dominant team, but normally defined as a dominant club versus an excellent but plucky secondary club that enjoys some success before falling back. Think late 90's Man Utd v Arsenal, and more recently Man City vs Liverpool.

This hasn't aged well...30 million spent so far this transfer window, wage deflation across all teams in the EPL...
The Bundesliga, in my opinion, is a much better experience. I get to visit games as a college student with little disposable income and often the football is more focused on tactics and team play than individual talents as is sometimes the case with the PL and La Liga.
Best league
Well the thing with tactics is that we get less flare players even in big clubs. No more are the days where Beckham or Ronaldhino could shine above the rest regularly through displaying their beautiful and seamless abilities. Players like that are becoming less and less thanks to an over reliance of tactics which takes a certain enjoyment out of the game. Older football fans hold their nostalgia on moments like that and less on team tactics .-.
(Funnily enough Guardiola’s obsession with tactics over the past decade has eliminated the flare that his early Barcelona team had which made it so iconic. And it has had a ripple effect as every manager now aspires to either play like pep or takes his tactical approach a lot more seriously then before) which frankly isn’t fun. City are such a boring team to watch even when there is individual brilliance.
Only issue I have with the Bundesliga is that it feels that every team is subservient to Bayern. If a team dares to win or even just challenge for the title, you know for sure that Bayern will poach most of their good talent from them.

@charlesjay8818 it is. The clubs are owned by fans and the fans aren't toxic like in the UK, begging for their dirty money owners to take more talent from the Bundesliga after every loss.

I think it just comes down to English being the most spoken language in the world. So every English speaking nation, including the states, Australia, and now India with their 1+ billion people, are naturally going to watch the league of the language they are most familiar to.

@@stephennewton2777 It isn't just language. It is cultural and heritage ties that go back to England as well. Plus, the Prem has most of the best players, because they go and pay for them. If I have the choice of who to watch, with limited time to watch, I will use my time to watch the best players.
@@nathancook2852Also don't forget how many countries have like 1 good player from their country, who naturally ends up in the Prem due to it already being the biggest and best league. Look at how Egypt almost exclusively supports Liverpool due to Mo Salah, or to a lesser degree with Son with South Korea. Its no small factor drawing in basically an entire nation worth of supporters due to their 1 player being pulled there. Sure there are exceptions such as Osimhen (at the moment) but the willingness of Premier clubs to sign a player from literally anywhere if their good enough really does help it grow.

No - what your just saw shows the opposite. In the EPL matchday and broadcast revenues are so high that you can succeed without being owned by a petro-state or an oligarch.

@chrisg5685 Since 14 of the last 25 champions league winners are from fan owned clubs, or in the case of bayern part fan owned, yes you can succeed without being owned by a petro-state/oligarch. However, of the 4 English clubs who between them have 7 of the last 25 champions leagues, all of them have oligarch owners.

I prefer the other leagues to the Premier League. I haven't followed the Premier League since 2013, and I'm English. Bundesliga and Serie A are my favourite leagues. The money is the reason why I don't like the Premier League.

@Listerinepeddler Serie A is coming back after falling behind La Liga and the Premier League after the Calciopoli scandal. The Bundesliga is very traditional compared to the Premier League. Their clubs are owned by the fans, while the Premier League is almost entirely owed by foreign billionaires who aren't football fans.
will the gap widen continuously though? in the final statement it seems, as if that circle will be broken, once the Premier League doesn't get to make enough profit of selling their players. and once the gap reaches a certain width, i'd expect clubs outside of the EPL struggle to make considerable offers to purchase players. it's a quick thought, but couldn't the increasing financial power of the EPL therefor also lead to its isolation and subsequent demise?

Historically, the EPL doesn't make profit selling players. The EPL spends exorbitant amounts on purchasing players from other leagues, which actually helps sustain other leagues. Saudi changed that this year by trying to gain interest due to the coming World Cup and their sports washing plan.

Clubs in Spain sell their own TV rights and anytime the Spanish FA wants to sell the league TV rights, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the four or five clubs that balk (with Atlético & Athletic Club). The Big Two do not want share broadcast rights to anyone.

You're right on that one tbf, the PL could still do more to support the rest of the football pyramid in the UK instead of forming all these international multiclub football conglomerates. Allowing them to buy players on the cheap and essentially use them as development clubs before bringing them to the prem. Mitoma is an example, where they basically trained him up at Union SG getting plenty of match experience.
Am in Africa and with my pay tv I watch all top league in Europe, the premier league is the most hyped league in the world and can't be compared to la liga which is exciting and good football with 2 teams going at each other, the premier league is defensive with one team defending and the other attacking

The difference this time is the English Language and the full exploitation of commercial opportunities. The Prem has a stranglehold on the international game outside of Europe and the financial side of the footballing world is much more developed now than it was even just 20 years ago.
What drove those 'cycles' though? The Premier League's growth has been driven by prescient economic practices and investment which has created an unprecendented gap between the leagues. The circumstances do not seem to be similar to the cases of other leagues nor suggest any short-time cycle that's soon to falter.

This video glosses over completely the reasons WHY the EPL has so much more money at their disposal: because they were the first ones to completely commercialise the sport and even sell entire clubs to foreign countries. Its a DELIBERATE decision for example of the Bundesliga to not commercialise the sport completely, by not allowing so many foreign investors just buying up entire clubs or by having such high ticket prices that ordinary fans can't even watch the matches. Money in football is extremely hated by German football fans, not having as much revenue as the EPL is by design. And if that means that some players leave the Bundesliga, so be it.
Nah, Bayern might risk loosing their monopoly if they did away with the 50 +1 rule. Other leagues are very top heavy too, but allowing opposing clubs to be bought out by the uber rich could change the dynamic in Germany.

If Real and Bayern played in England, they would trade titles between them, with Man City and some other top 4 Prem team battling for third. Only 2-3 teams can win the EPL each year. There is no competition. If you are talking about teams 6-12 being competitive with each other, that just proves my point.
The big 6 or even 12 concept is a joke, let's take for example Spurs, they are not more in terms of sports merits than Sevilla CF from La liga which, is struggling to keep on the competition facing the risk of going to play the second tier. So a far superior club in terms of domestic and international victories is not even considered a top 10 or 15 in La Liga.

All that money and yet only 2 PL teams in the knockout stage of the CL. One fundamental problem with the PL is that teams are paying a fortune for average players. Part of the difference in revenue goes to price inflation, which closes the gap.
I guess this video partlg sums up the reason Florentino Pérez has been pushing for the European Super League, which is to enable other leagues earn more revenue. Florentino's plan cannot be achieved for 2 reasons in my opinion: (a) Premier League clubs have signed a bond that they wont exit the EPL and the UK govt is working on a legislation to ensure that; and(b) the ESL already exist and it is the Premier League. Although Premier League clubs are closing the gap due to attraction of the EPL and good wages, they can't beat the appeal of playing for historic clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus. I guess these clubs would have to spend more to sign big names or improve wages to enhance their leagues or start taking disgruntled players from the EPL on discounted prices (AC Milan has 4 ex-Chelsea players and Roma has ex-Chelsea player on loan). However, the challenge for the other leagues especially the Seriea A is that the Saudi Pro League has more money and is currently harvesting players from the EPL. Thus, players that in the past would have considered moving to Italy are now being attracted to Saudi Pro League due to wages.
The super league has nothing whatsoever to do with teams leaving domestic leagues. it's an alternative to the champions league.

People want to watch the EPL because it’s a competitive league unlike any of the other top leagues in Europe, if you’re an international fan then realistically you’re probably a Madrid or Barcelona fan for Spain or a Munich fan for Germany, maybe an Italian team or PSG, there’s way more to choose from in the EPL where it’s more competitive and the result is less predictable. The money coming into the EPL is just a reflection of this trend, if the other European leagues want to level the playing field then they need to break big club monopolies over them

That’s a bit unfair considering Newcastle’s injury crisis and their first time playing in the champions league in years still recovering from the Mike Ashley era. Unlike Man U who got half of a Europa league, Newcastle got thrown right into the group of death which would even make Man City and arsenal fans shiver. Despite this, Newcastle held their own, drew Milan away which is a pretty good achievement for our first game and then the best trophy of all beating PSG 4 - 1 which will be replayed for years to come. Then battered by Dortmund twice and then finally lost to AC Milan in a close game of 1 - 2, yes we lost but it was until the last game at the closing minutes. While we did lose last place, I think we certainly held our own for it being our first champions league in ages. Another thing to add, we also got robbed by PSG which pretty much sealed our fate.

What underpins all this is the incredible demand for English football domestically and abroad. With that in mind, possibly the key stat is the ratio of highest wage bill to lowest - this is driven by the more equitable, meritocratic share of broadcast revenues that the EPL collectively agrees to but which the big clubs abroad (the ones routinely complaining about the power of the EPL) would never agree to in a million years. Mid or lower table EPL clubs, with good coaching and a sound strategy, really can compete - can beat the "big" teams whilst playing attractive, progressive football and pushing for Europe. There are lots of failings with the EPL (Man City far too dominant...) but strategically you have to agree that their long-term planning has helped create a more competitive league and more appealing product. In e.g. La Liga the big clubs seem to care more about having the biggest share of the pie whereas they should be trying to make the pie bigger.
No one watches Rayo v Cádiz except for their domestic fans, which is limited to a local area. Bigger clubs like la Real and Athletic Club likewise have no one watching except home fans. The vast majority of domestic and non domestic viewers of la liga are interested in Real Madrid or Barsa. It's because of that that the rest of the teams in Spain get revenue from broadcasting rights. What is "attractive, progressive football"? Whenever I watch the premier league, I see frantic midfield battles and often poor play in the final third. Liverpool need 30 chances to score 1. That's why it takes billions for premier league clubs to win in Europe, and despite the EPL buying all the best players and managers in la liga, Spanish teams still outdo them in Europe. When was the last time an English manager won the EPL?

I’m also saying it’s because of the more equitable distribution of broadcasting revenues - the general standard of football is raised and you get better, more interesting games on average.
I understand perfectly. You claim that the EPL is more popular because the difference in wage bill from the top to bottom creates "a more competitive league and more appealing product". That's a matter of opinion, in many ways.
But in Spain, the difference between top and bottom is inflated by the size of Real Madrid's wage bill. Even barsa still outspend Atleti, but the size of those two clubs in comparison to the rest make the difference what it is. Real Madrid has a huge revenue because of its worldwide fan base and can afford the wage bill because of that, not just due to TV revenue.
Also, Spain is a different context, with its own ways of working. I made it clear why the top clubs get more than the rest. It _is_ meritocratic.
But the "key stat" is the revenue generated and available to clubs. Buying all the best players from around europe is why the premier league is so popular, which doesn't mean the football is "more competitive and appealing", which is largely a matter of opinion.

There are other factors at play here - the english language being one - but you can't ignore that the more equitable distribution of revenue leads to a more competitive league. Small clubs in England can get promoted and have the budget to bring in elite players and a great coach - the same is not true elsewhere. You say La Liga is meritocratic, which may well be true, but that doesn't make it a good for the league in the long run. I appreciate what you are saying about non-TV revenues being a factor as well, but IMO the other major leagues should learn from what works in the EPL and share the money around more. It'd be better for all clubs in the long run.

Just leaving this here for PL Fans who might not know how much this money machine is exploiting the fans. Let's take the example of Dortmund: you get tickets to watch games in the standing block from 18€. In the seated blocks from 30€ on.
I find this whole thing easy misleading like when you said the wages for league 1 being skewed by psg. Surely la liga is the same with Barcelona and Madrid and bundesliga with Bayern when it's a whole leauge being looked at like that it's always going to favour the prem with a much wider spread across more teams.
From 90s to early 2000s it was serie A, then from 2000s to early 2010s it was Laliga, now it's Premier League.
More money spent -> more superstar players -> bigger league.
It always was, and will be, about the money. Premier League has the most money now, who knows in the future who's turn it is to be the biggest?
PL has always had the most, it's literally always been the biggest league in revenue. The gap has only increased exponentially to the point other leauges can't even hope to keep up. There is never going to be a league that overtakes it. Never.

It has literally always been EPL...In America as a kid in the late 80's and early 90's I didn't even know other leagues existed outside the U.S.

In Asia, Africa, and the rest of Europe, Serie A was the thing in the 90s, every big match was broadcasted in bars, cafes, etc... Every one had a favorite Serie A team, then it moved on to LaLiga and literally everyone had an opinion about Barca/Real, and others preferred Valencia, Sociedad, Betis, and others. People watched PL back then I'm not denying that, but it wasn't as much as the other two "GLOBALLY".
I could eventually, and I mean like 15-20 years from now, see a merger between the French, Spanish, and Italian leagues occur to try and build a better counter to the prem.

I don't understand how the TV deal can be worth 3 times more then the Germans one. In Germany all TV broadcaster make losses (mainly Sky and DAZN) and not small ones. How does it work in the UK if I may ask? I personally am not willing to pay currently 40 € for DAZN and around the same for Sky (I guess 40€ is something like 35 pounds) if I calculate now linearaly it would mean broadcasting in the UK would be at 210 pounds per month per person and they still wouldn't make any kind of money (I now this is a fairly big simplification but I guess my point can be understood).
Premier League receives crazy broadcasting revenues from Asia and the US. German Bundesliga is primarily watched in Germany. That's what makes the difference.
@@Clery75019 Don't get me wrong, I understand that the international merketing is far better in the UK as well but the national in UK is worth 2bn € while the Germans national one is "just" 1.1bn €. So what I'm asking is how the broadcasters in the UK can pay that much for football while in Germany this isn't possible even though the countries themselfs are more or less comparable. Reminder that the reason for this ever widening gap is *not* the revenue sharing system.
Interesting but l would add two dimensions missing here. First, the product. The PL is far more competitive than its rivals which results in a better product. Almost every game is a genuine contest. The traditional athleticism has been allied with greater technical and tactical sophistication by hiring the best from around the world. Second, the marketing of the PL is far more professional than its rivals.
I really wanted to see the top leagues debt per league. Really curious how LaLiga and the Bundesliga would have performed there.

You don't want that. Then you get MLS, which completely sucks because you get 2-3 good players per team. Either that, or you get the NFL where the cap is just there for aesthetics and doesn't really matter.

I miss the days when Serie A was by far the best and most competitive league in the world. From the 80s to the mid 2000s Serie A had many of the biggest footballers in history at great clubs without the help of “oil & billionaires money”
Well, that was massively helped by Silvio Berlusconi's Milan who was the richest man in Italy. What's surprizing during that time is how good was French Ligue 1 back then, knowing that it turned now into a mere development league.
