I can see its hard for you to see bright red colors with a grey background

Thanks for mentioning it. My experience is that I can see all colors, but some have to be really distinct for my brain to register them as not the same.

When you have a light red colour number on a gray backgroud, you can't see it. And when it is green and purple, you can see it clearly
This is what they mean by you can't see the red light properly

Yeah it's really that way. I for example had light pink socks that look grey to me. Or I specifically bought a pink Nintendo switch case, knowing that it was pink, because for me it just looked like a better gray than the actual grey one :).

I think it's protonopia. It's mostly a red-green thing. But I never had an official diagnosis or anything.
