    Great work Joe, the images are awesome. I like how calmly and rationally you go about your shooting. I've just bought the 16-55 f2.8, waiting for the body. I think I definitely made the right decision with the X-H1. Have a great day!

    • @jamochl
      @jamochl 6 років тому +1

      I can attest that the 16-55mm 2.8 is an incredible lens. We've shot a wedding with it recently and it was the most used lens, perfect focal length and great sharpness and colour. Matched with the IBIS with the XH-1 you are going to love it

    • @jurajbottlik694
      @jurajbottlik694 6 років тому

      James C.H Lim Thanks for your response James, I am now even more happy with my purchase. I plan to shoot weddings with this lens so it’s great to hear that you have such a good experience with it. It’s also great that Fuji will solve all those minor firmware issues with an upcoming update.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  6 років тому

      Thanks for your thoughts! I personally came close to getting the 16-55mm. But I've been having this desire to shoot almost exclusively with prime lenses for quite a while now. I find the limitations to be a great experience in improving my photography, plus the lenses are much smaller and more discreet. It was a difficult decision though, because obviously the 16-55 covers the range I want with primes, but at a sacrifice of size and weight. Only time will tell if I made the right choice...

    Man, this makes me homesick. I have been away for three years for work, and rn I’m struggling to remember why..
    I’m liking the X-H1. It really has colours for events like this. Very saturated, and with high contrast.
    It looks like professional news or television in its aesthetic.

    Great videos, keep it up. Did you use warp stabilizer on your walking shots? Because there was a bit of warping for sure.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  6 років тому +1

      Thanks! I didn’t use warp stabiliser actually. That’s the downside to in-built stabilisation. It shows a bit of plane-shifting when there’s extreme movement. For a vlog, I think it’s tolerable and I don’t worry too much about it, even if I do notice it myself.

    I would like to ask. Im 17 yrs old and im a photography enthusiast based in belgium antwerp. And im wondering if its still worth it to buy fuji XT-1 in 2019 and pair it with 18-55 lens??

    I have a small budget that’s the reason why😄.

    Thank you in advance if anyone reply :)

    Do think it is worth it to get canon L series lenses like 16-35 f4 on crop body sensor like 70d ? Or issit better getting 18-35 1.8 sigma ?

    • @jamochl
      @jamochl 6 років тому

      F1.8 is so juicy, unless you need 25mm equivalent dude then 18-35 will suit you better

    • @Smoothblue90
      @Smoothblue90 6 років тому

      Don't know what you are doing. But I think you really need to research the Canon 10-18mm STM wide angle zoom. Pretty sharp and very light. That lens with a 70D without a battery grip would be very light weight.

    Hi, Is A7iii is better then Fuji colour ?
    I'm struggling to pick Fuji or Sony
    I shoot more in landscape , urban style(instagram) and little travel video please give some suggestion !=D

    • @mrsusan893
      @mrsusan893 6 років тому

      Marcus Loo The topic regarding who has better colour is very subjective. Some people with say Sony and others will say Fuji. I've read a lot of forums comparing the two brands and I can honestly tell you that the majority of people say that Fujifilm produces the most accurate colours.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  6 років тому +1

      I've had extensive experience with the Sony A7R II and multiple Fujifilm cameras. The one thing I will always mention with the Sony is how inconsistent the colours can be. Sometimes things can just be extremely difficult to get looking right, particularly skin tones, when it comes to post-processing. It's especially noticeable when shooting video, which has less colour control as it's not raw video. It's one of the reasons I personally chose the Fujifilm route, but it's down to everyone's own preference and experience.

  • @indiemichael
    @indiemichael 6 років тому +4

    Regarding overheating. I use my xpro2 to shoot sport events where I basically just machine gun the entire time. The camera never overheats. Running into the end of the buffer is a bigger concern than overheating

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  6 років тому

      That’s great to hear! Sometimes my experience with cameras is somewhat tainted by my experience with my Sony A7R II… glad it’s been working out for you and happy it’s done well for me so far too!

    • @aaronmoiche330
      @aaronmoiche330 6 років тому

      What do you guys do with all the extra shots you don’t post on social media or edit? Do you delete them? I’m guessing it’s got to be hard if 80%+ of the shots you take in burst are epic

    • @indiemichael
      @indiemichael 6 років тому +2

      Aaron Moiche sadly they get purged. It’s not uncommon for me to shoot 3000+ frames in a day and keep 250 of them. With 20 of those being “epic” shots used for race or event promos for the next year.

    • @aaronmoiche330
      @aaronmoiche330 6 років тому

      Michael K wow that’s amazing, it must be quite a task to choose the right ones when many will be similar. Does it affect how you shoot in other circumstances? Like with sports events or the like as there is a lot going on burst mode works well, but for example with random outings that are less hectic do you try to take less photos and worry more about the composition of each individual one as you would if you shot film or no?

    So strange to hear how Fuji af has been criticized over the last 5 years and then see how xh1 was more than capable to deal with fast paced subjects 5 years ago. If you made conclusions about xh1 from nowadays perspective one would conclude that this camera is not capable to focus at all 😢

      To be honest, I somewhat agree with you. I don’t think I got anything special here either. But when I’d gone to the effort of attending and filming this vlog, I thought it was still worth me sharing to help inspire others to go out and shoot. The other aspect is that by continuing to go to these events, over time I will eventually find the shots that work best through continued practice.

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl
      @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl 6 років тому

      hey ... thanks for the reply 👍🏻✌🏻... and I know it's also always a matter of taste 😉 and those events seem to be easy but actually are not ... I did shoot quite a few "running event videos" back in the days when I started my own thing and it always was quite a challenge to finde a nice & unique angle/shot ... but with a bit of practice and a open mind there always is a way 😉🤘🏻

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl
      @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl 6 років тому

      oh and also a part of the official crew on those events I was able to get closer and on the track itself and such ... that also helps getting other/different shots of course ... anyways thanks for making videos about gear and the process and so on ... #KeepOnRocking 😎✌🏻

    Inception? Jesus, you kids... Joe, that's from the famous opening sequence from Last Tango in Paris (which is likely why Nolan used it for Inception). Check it out

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  6 років тому +2

      Haha! From what I gather, it’s been used in many films. Inception just happened to come to mind first, probably due to the emphasis on the symmetry of the bridge, which is something I’m always keeping an eye out for.
