This is a mind-boggling and dangerous task. I pray that all the workers stay safe and that the missing men can be recovered so that their families find closure.
Not dangerous at all riding my bike down a dirt road is more dangerous
Sir. You are an ignoramus! 🦾🤨🤔😔☠️
My condolences to the family of the deceased. Fuerza, amigos.
Mine are to you haven’t seen too much news coverage on the victims .. all they keep reporting on is reopening the bridge goes to show this country doesn’t care about the average working man
Gotta hand it to USCG and how sophisticated this cleanup effort is
Was this an attack on America for our backing of the genocid e Israe l is carrying out in Gaza
Their motto is "Semper Paratus," Latin for "Always Ready!" And they are! Awesome bunch! 😎✌️
Huh? It's the Army Corps of Engineers doing the entire cleanup effort.
@@pvp64 Combination of both
All of you are wrong. This cleanup effort is funded by 330 million clueless Americans.
Immigrant or citizen this is a horrible tragedy. Those men were working hard to keep our roads safe, they wanted the American dream: a job and a roof over their heads with no fear of gangs threatening them. RIP to all 6 hard working men.
It's amazing how many people still cannot grasp this simple concept.
@GigaHellblaze Well, RIP, but time was when working for government transportation agencies was a good paying blue collar job for American born guys (almost always guys). Heck, even in California CalTrans is mostly native-born Americans. These immigrants really do take jobs and lower wages.
Rest In Peace 💔to the victims. Condolences to family and friends
I pray for all involved may God keep you and bless you
Gotta appreciate that blue collar life that will be working 7 days a week to correct this mistake.
They get paid more than enough for this lol.
Mistake?
People died because of this "Mistake"

I imagine divers are skilled trained professionals not ordinary blue collar workers. Who really cars anyway blue vs white. They will be paid very well.
We stand with you, crane.
This is so sad, hope they find the bodies in the water. 🙏🙏✝️🙏🏼🙏🏼
The team who put this together deserves a raise - they did an awesome job with this report.
The ultimate financial responsibility should be on the shipping company and their insurance carrier. NOT the American public.
Giant crane? I watched the whole video, and have yet to see that giant crane? Where's the Mammoet?
Typical media b.s. and poor research. The Chesapeake 1000 is a shear leg and it’s still enroute. It’s not even the largest crane on the east coast. The Left Coast Lifter has a maximum capacity of 1850 tons but it has also been out of service for over 5 years since the Tappan Zee Bridge project was completed.
The operator of this giant toy be like...
The money goes to re-building the bridge is better than sending money to other countries for the sake of war😑😑
Watching the Live Feed of Key bridge crumple and fall for some reason made feel so sad knowing those lost their lives saw it coming first hand.
Sorry but to quote Jaws.......You're gonna need a bigger crane!
They said it's going to take up to 1 year to fully get everything out of the water.
I would guess four months personally.
@@Thaumazzar 2 to 3 months to get the channel clear.
given there isnt actually a floating crane big enough to get the biggest bridge parts up and out, they will have to cut it all apart first. hence 1 year or maybe more knowing how inefficient governments are.

It's very commendable that they are removing all the wreckage keeping the sand totally free and clear of any hazards
Back in the day people would just have taken care of it....local welders, metal workers construction workers, firefighters would have been climbing those beams without safety harnessess getring it done. They never needed "underwater drones" to build bridges or clean up messes in the past. Now-a-days theres so many laws and regulations and meetings this is going to take 10 times as long to recrify. Sad. Life was better when there was less bureaucracy and regulations....everything moves slower and is less efficient now. God bless those who are actually helping the situation. ❤
Are we sure this crane is giant? Those things are pretty big usually. It might be just a regular sized crane. I'm gonna need to see a certificate.
That crain is just a toy compared to the work ahead of it
What is going on here in the US. Another cargo ship or barge crashes into a bridge in Oklahoma earlier today. Thankfully this bridge didn't fall.
My hopes and good thoughts to all involved in the salvage and rebuilding of the bridge. Especially for the souls of the victims, their families and friends. Truly a tragedy.
This must be why my packages are late
This is such a stunning blow to American economy. It is hard to imagine a worse accident.
I hope they have crane operators and engineers that can calculate the effect of current and drag so that they don't end up with cranes sitting on top of the wreckage.
It's amazing how small the steel pieces of that bridge look next to that huge ship
I love how the government gives pennies for the bridge rebuild but trillions to you know where. 🙄
And they call a Tonka toy a giant crane. SMH. That is not a giant crane, and is like taking a thimble of water to a house fire. Who do we think we're fooling here?
What’s really mind boggling is that 50-85 million people died during World War II. It’s also mind-boggling that these types of errors were not planned for in the beginning. Hopefully more people start to ask the question, “What if____?” The answers to “ What if _____? Lead to preventative measures for the future. How so many monstrous ships have been allowed to navigate this portion of the body of water there without tugboats it beyond my comprehension. What about you?
Here's the question that needs to be answered. How long was it known the boat was without power? As a port city Baltimore had to be tugboats docked near. Why weren't they used to divert it from hitting the bridge, instead huge cranes to clean up after impact? Had that been done this wouldn't even be a news story. Who dropped the ball?
There are much larger marine lifting rigs that can lift entire ships. Also once it’s broken into sections more crews could be working simultaneously round the clock. The first stages would be slow however to avoid mistakes.
Who is paying for this? The insurance company of the cargo ship or the company that owns it?
No, the insurance is not paying for a rebuild. What shipping company regularly buys a 2 billion dollar policy? The government is paying for this of course.
American taxpayers are paying for it, like they always do when stuff like this happens
@@Baker.Creative why?
@@jakekisiel7399 because we have the money to do so.
Underwriters / P&I Club, ultimately

That ship is still there...😮
Yeah, what do you think it takes to move the bridge from The ship and then tug it to the harbour. Its a very dangerous task and haste will only put more lives at risk.
@@annarichter484 Don't you think this mishap didn't took much lives, ofcourse only materialistic things got destroyed...!
It's gonna be there a while yet
🤦
@@N_I_T_Y_A It took six lives so far. Every single loss is a tragedy. Not to mention the people who's work, commute, livelihood is affected over the next few weeks, months, years. Imagine only a single family were a parent instead of a 30 min commute from work to home now takes two hours. Don't tell me their lives are not negatively effected and that it is only material things that got destroyed - less time with you loved ones doesn't sound very materialistic.
Maybe show the actual crane not puny one on the barge.
All the really heavy ones are in Europe and Asia, there will be lots of cranes and barges there to deal with it.
Besides, the bridge is in pieces, the smaller cranes are better and quicker, over all, for this.

One would think, after the Sunshine Skyway tragedy, this sort of accident would be preventable.

Media loves to use big word to make the story more interesting than it really is.
There's the problem: you don't have multiple incident commands - you have ONE of them making decisions and directing efforts. Sure, they have a large organization under them (certainly a few different agencies). But in the heat of the moment, there needs to be one decision maker to avoid arguments and discussions and wasted time due to "consensus building" and other compromises. Can't be stuck behind "analysis paralysis" -- a good enough plan now is better than the perfect plan later.
Is 10 tugs going to be enough? With 9 barges and 7 cranes won't they need a few more tugboats out there to move those things around as needed?
Underwater welders will be in high demand
welders?
@@peterlochead6662 I think the skillset is similar for those that cut it, maybe.
On the other hand they might have other means of breaking apart some of the pieces. Very weird situation all around I imagine.
@@peterlochead6662The other alternative would be shaped charges to cut the steel - but that requires no-one in the water within a couple of miles when you fire them.
@allangibson8494 when your hauling something as heavy as a bridge or even bridge section it's super important to make sure that the whole thing doesn't slip or shift its weight in any direction.. so underwater welders will be employed to secure mounting points, loops that will attach to the Cranes but nothing will get cut until the weight has been transfered to the Crain else it will be super dangerous for the divers
@@allangibson8494 my bet is shaped charges, far faster and safer than cutting. Many ways to mitigate the side effects of subsea blasting, such as air curtains. Then again they could deploy ROV's with diamond cutting technology which eliminates the need for divers, but you do have very expensive gear at risk.

youre gonna need a bigger boat and crane
There are more jobs around the area there than just the port.
I work at one of the coal piers and we cannot operate without the channel being opened. We've had a ship stuck in our port for days, just like all the places around us. But they're only concerned about the PoB
And that ship won’t be moving for at least a month possibly two.

the media keeps wanting to call it a bridge collapse, like there was something wrong with the bridge. Not the captains fault, the boat hit it, just like the suv that mowed over the dancing grannies in a Christmas parade. Isn't that how it works these days? No accountability, taxpayers will flip the bill.
The government doesn't want accountability, its always deregulation. Nobody wants to force EVERY shipping companies to buy 5 billion dollar with of insurance in case they hit a bridge.
They don’t even care about the innocent lives that were lost all you see is them talking about re opening the bridge!
That's a giant crane? 🤔
Synergy Group and Grace Oceans need to speak or show up ???? Why are yall not talking about the them

Will they be having the crew members disembark during this operation?
