Back in the day people would just have taken care of it....local welders, metal workers construction workers, firefighters would have been climbing those beams without safety harnessess getring it done. They never needed "underwater drones" to build bridges or clean up messes in the past. Now-a-days theres so many laws and regulations and meetings this is going to take 10 times as long to recrify. Sad. Life was better when there was less bureaucracy and regulations....everything moves slower and is less efficient now. God bless those who are actually helping the situation. ❤

What’s really mind boggling is that 50-85 million people died during World War II. It’s also mind-boggling that these types of errors were not planned for in the beginning. Hopefully more people start to ask the question, “What if____?” The answers to “ What if _____? Lead to preventative measures for the future. How so many monstrous ships have been allowed to navigate this portion of the body of water there without tugboats it beyond my comprehension. What about you?

  • @DTrueView

Here's the question that needs to be answered. How long was it known the boat was without power? As a port city Baltimore had to be tugboats docked near. Why weren't they used to divert it from hitting the bridge, instead huge cranes to clean up after impact? Had that been done this wouldn't even be a news story. Who dropped the ball?

There's the problem: you don't have multiple incident commands - you have ONE of them making decisions and directing efforts. Sure, they have a large organization under them (certainly a few different agencies). But in the heat of the moment, there needs to be one decision maker to avoid arguments and discussions and wasted time due to "consensus building" and other compromises. Can't be stuck behind "analysis paralysis" -- a good enough plan now is better than the perfect plan later.

Yeah, when 330 million pounds traveling at probably ~15mph makes contact with a structure, it’s likely going to collapse. I’m not sure this equation works here, but if it were a projectile, it would hit with 2,309,999,999,994lbs of force. Understand now? Or are you being misguided on purpose?
2.3 trillion lbs of force to be concise.
