  • See how I mixed 1/5 of a 50 lb bag of Schluter All-SET and whether I had good luck spreading and working with it.

My dude, I appreciate it. Only needed enough to do the floors of a small bathroom and know I didn't need the whole bag... helped me out tremendously.

Thankyou I see you used hydro hardi board and that's what I'm going to use and I wasn't sure what mix directions to use, the tile or membrane, for the board seems, you finally gave me the right answer.

How did you seal the cement board to the sheetrock ceiling? Or did you just leave it

Did you do the membrane mix with more water so its thinner? There are 2 ways to mix it. For membrane or tile which is a bit thicker right?

Hey Joe, Just a question. when putting the waterproof fleece and bands. Do you put it to its wettest consistency? I was showed to do that, to help be able get the air bubbles out and not have as much thinset under it, to lessen the water wicking from the thinset. Thanks

The Schluter instructions say to use between 7.5 and 8.5 quarts. So.... how do you handle that range? Start with the lower amount and add water up to the max amount?

No, you can't add water after you mix everything based on Schluter's instructions. It appears that he used 8 quartz of water and covered it to Ounces then took 1/5 of that. You use the lesser amount of water for tiles, the middle for Ditra and the higher number for the membrane. That's the rule of thumbs. It doesn't mean that you can't use the higher range for tiles, it's just a way to help you start.
