I cried, literally cried on listening to this rendition. Raag Tilak Kamod is a favorite of mine since Mehdi Saab used to sing Thumris in it. I have heard this particular qawwali in the voice of Farid Ayaz Saab. But this rendition is so majestic, so touching. Popular perceptions of Qawwali as constructed by Bollywood is so off the track - hence sections of our urban lot do not appreciate it's majesty. But something so close to the soil and to the almighty will flourish for ever. Bahut Bahut Shukriya aur Hindustan se dheer sara pyaar
"Popular perceptions of Qawwali as constructed by Bollywood is so off the track" so true. This has the depth to affect the soul that the other somewhat lacks. Though music is still music but while one is simply for fun, the other reaches right into the heart and soul. 😊😊
The Dream Journey thanks a lot THE DREAM JOURNEY team. great work. great project. music and poetry has eternal power. you had such a fantastic work by giving a platform to the enormous talents in pakistan. delighted.

Bahot bahot shukriya Dream Journey team and long live Habib Sahab and team.
I have heard this Qawwali from Ustad Manzoor Niazi sahab many times in Qawwali gatherings, Although Other Qawwals also sing this in a good way but this was Manzoor sahab 's speciality and his voice and Taans were superb simply out of this world. This boy Habib Niazi is also beautifully singing and following his grand father's foot steps.
What can one say after listening to something like this! What an amazing piece of magic. Really grateful to the wonderful people who have preserved this for us and are sharing it with lovers of music worldwide. Buhat shukriya!
O if I can be Rādhā waiting in the forest bower ... for my beloved Kanhaiya ... what an utterly transformational qawali with explosive bhava .. feel very humbled 👏😇🎶🔔🙏🏽♥️🔥
We need to love each other even when we are separated... The most tragic thing has happened in our collective life, but through art, music and literature let's search for our oneness...
The singer has beautifully demonstrated the anguish of separation for the beloved. As Wajid Ali Shah said only music and poetry can bring a real man to tears.
What a beautiful rendition of this Hindu bhajan! I remembers me of the late Ustad Meraj Ahmad Nizami Qawwal ( 1931-2015), the late Khalifa of the Qawwal Bachchon ka Gharana - he was the first traditional qawwal to include Hindu devotional songs in his repertoire. It's sad (and a shame) that the passing of this great qawwal, in October 2015, went as good as unnoticed in the Indian media.
You are right that Meraj saheb's passing wasn't really noticed on a larger scale in India when he was really a giant in the world of qawwali and in Indian sufi music. We did pay him our respects in in the Facebook group of Classical Qawwali Lovers though. Regula Qureshi of Canada wrote about him extensively in her book "Sufi Music of India and Pakistan". Incidentally this particular Bhajan remembering Krishan Kanhaiya was written by Nawab Sadiq Jang Hilm of Hyderabad.

Habib shows maturity of style by reciting the words in a suitably somber and solemn manner. Beautifully done! The closeups in the video also help convey their emotions.
The flow is amazing. It starts off slow like a rivulet originating from Gangotri gaining pace down the Prayag, subsequently gaining the volume as it touches the vast farmlands, eventually culminating with full force into the Bay of Bengal! And the transition is so unnoticeable that you just move with the flow without really noticing it! Speechless... absolutely speechless ^_^
Sublime. What sincerity and purity in this rendition. Comes straight through the heart and lands up right there. It melts my thoughts and brings out a tear or two every time I hear it.
