@jasonslaughter2811 🤔🤔well my fine feathered friend I'm here to say I used to think the same thing . I'm a maintenance technician at a giant church downtown Houston. I couldn't believe 1 he was up that early 🤭🤭2 he scales the fence, 3 he had tools ,4 he knew wtf he was doing. So all the stereotype goes out the windows I suppose. Although that's one lone ninja 🤔I'm almost 49 and no felonies and all the other crap pe5have bad going on. Do there's that idk man
Yep. I learned this wen camera first came out. My house was robbed in broad daylight president day 2002ish I lived next door to the neighborhood watch leader who was home. Nobody saw anything. My car was broke into Stafford Walmart in 10 min they go car ,person everything. But nada. Same with the pet chip thing all bs
My thoughts exactly. Last year I had to take my trailer to another town. My mom rode with me because she wanted to stop by a casino there. When we got to the casino, first thing I did was pull up next to a giant light pole, tied and locked a 1/2 inch grade 80 chain from my trailer to the pole, tied and locked steel cable between the wheels on both sides, jacked up the tongue as high as it would go and removed the jack handle, the hitch, and the safety chains, then some guy comes up to me and was like, "What are you doing? That's not necessary, there's cameras in the parking lot". I was like, "yeah, so I can get a great video of my trailer getting stolen"
You think someone with a truck like that doesn't have a job? They were wearing steel toes etc and probably do have a job. People with jobs aren't necessarily good people.
Well, again, it's that local police/sheriff that let this happen. But utilities already use Al for high voltage lines so they know how to safely connect it. That means in the fullness of time, utilities will use Al for street lighting. The main negative is that you have use a larger size Al wire than Cu to get the same performance. No big deal. Remember that street lighting with LED fixtures uses less than half of the power of previous systems.
Copper as a bulk metal is worth less that $4/lb. If this guy is stealing wire, he either isn't very bright or he is steeling wire to sell under the counter to another electrician.
$4.00 is the market price. Scrap yards pay "scrap" prices, usually about 1/2 of spot. In Illinois, everything at the scrap yard is video and you MUST show an ID.
@@marmars1081 -- Well, good for you for doing some simply math. But there is more math needed. To sell it as scrap copper it would have to be "process" usually by just burning it. This is often done by a "junk yard" but these places are "observed" by the cops. This increases the risk to the thief and increases the time during which he is at great risk of getting caught. The "deal" would at most pay him 1/2 the wholesale price of the metal. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of folks stealing copper. I suspect it might be in part mindless vandalism with a small amount of financial reward. I suspect that your local police/sheriff folks turn a blind eye. If they catch someone in the act the vehicle is subject to seizure under asset forfeiture rules. But cops don't do that against local "good old boys." They save it for out of town folks that are essentially innocent of all wrong doing but are carrying a lot of ca$h.
I've scrapped before , legally, where I live, you have to work double time to make even anything off scrap , its actually easier to get a actual job. ANd do that on the side LEGALLY.
So are these people for real just going out causing all this public nuisances for the sake of funding a drug addiction? Like hell at that point wouldn't it be easier and more consistent to just get a job and just keep drugging it up that way without all the legal risk??
Guy is driving an incredibly expensive truck, this is probably his second job, removing the materials he installed during his dayjob. Job security if he has to keep installing what he is stealing. Think man, drug addicts wouldn't have a nice expensive gas guzzling newer model truck.
In the larger sizes, Al actually out performs Cu. at #6 and smaller the main advantage of Cu over Al it that it's easier to make reliable connections with Cu. When you have a bad connection it heats up and that can cause fires.
I owned a home built in 1972 that was wired aluminum thanks to the Vietnam war (one more reason to hate the war) and the Nixon administration and the need for cooper for bullets. Anyways, the homes electrical preformed fine for 3 decades. Rewired the house to cooper in 2006 mainly because my father a retired electrician had nothing better to do. And all the comments regarding aluminum used as main lines into houses and business is correct - aluminum preforms much better and safer.
@@EricL91710 The biggest problem with aluminum household wiring is that you cannot mix it with copper wire. The dissimilar metals will corroded and then overheat. Also, I don't think it handled current as well as they thought. Most insurance companies require aluminum wiring to be removed from the inside of the house. (Retired electrician)
Now I’m not stereotyping anyone but ain’t no brother messing with nothing like that 😂

That’s because he works for the power company. More than likely Center Point.
Not really ,anyone that have a hot stick can pull the fuses .
and he knew exactly what he was doing.
Someone like him doesn't deserve respect.
This can easily be addressed with all the recycling facilities requiring drivers license for copper and other precious metals.
They do
So much for surveillance ,you can watch the crime, but not catch the thief.

How dificult is to pay a reward to catch this thief with this truck, how difficult is to check all the surveillance camaras in the area?

My city Tulsa Oklahoma can't keep the street lights burning because of copper thieves.

Not as bad as stealing catalytic converters but still a chickenshit move
i guess corrupt centerpoint doesnt cover underground wire but hte customer has to
