Wow!!! This is an oldie. I absolutely love your videos and discovering this one was certainly special! That critter picket fence!!! 🥰 Love! Love! Love that!!! Thank you for sharing with us. I so enjoy your life! 🌼🌿💜
If ever there was a magical flower, I think it would be a Columbine. They look like a tiny fairy wafted by when I wasn't looking and left them as a surprise. Your garden is a delight to the eyes and I'll wager it has a marvelous smell, too.
Thank you for visiting my cottage gardens and your kind words. I subscribed to your channel and I am enjoying your tours. Like 'Kitten' below commented, I too love your guided tour & the detail you give us while walking your gardens. I look forward to more of your garden videos. You are a VERY TALENTED lady. You have created the PERFECT spot to kick back and do your writing & painting. 'HEAVEN ON EARTH' is what you have created. Smiles, Lark
have a paradise there...I enjoyed seeing your beautiful home and the ducks, geese, peacock just hanging out with you. I'm a senior citizen & would be in heaven here on earth to sit back & enjoy the solitude & beauty of what you have created. thank you
Hello. Thankyou for sharing the magical Hopalong Hollow with us out here in youtube land. I have very much enjoyed your videos, particularly these garden ones where you take us on a tour and talk us through what we are seeing. I would love to see more such tour vid's of your garden and wonderful animals :)
That was SOOO delightful! Pure paradise. I love your style of gardening. I just started my little no-dig organic cottage garden last Spring 2017. Hope it will improve each year. I'm so impatient. Lol
Thank You Patricia! I'm going to try a no-dig vegetable garden this year. Wish I had known about no dig gardening when I started all my flower gardens. Your garden will get better and better with each passing year, but things change so much in a garden, you will always have something else you want to add! Be sure to throw in some zinnia seeds..
I’ve just discovered your wonderful channel today and have been watching whenever I have a moment. I knew who Boris was right away and it gave me a good chuckle. Learning lots and thoroughly enjoying your beautiful land!
I fully agree with you about needing a front garden. Just overv3 years ago we moved from a tiny townhouse in the city to 4 acres in the country. There wasn't a garden to be found at all. My biggest challenge, besides the weeds are the deer. They just love to eat everything.
We don't have to worry about the deer, our dogs scare them off; my own free-range birds are my biggest garden hassle, very destructive. This property was nothing but brambles, crabgrass and a dilapidated house when I moved in. It's come a long way!
I love to watch your videos when I'm tired or stressed. Your voice calms me and your art inspires me. I love seeing an artist living an artful, beautiful life. Have you made a video for shade gardening? I can't for the life of me figure out what to plant in my shady areas besides hosta and fern. Help me "paint" the sad shady part of my life. LOL Peace and blessings.
Thank you Michal, how nice! Shade areas are such a problem, I agree, but I will definitely do a shade garden video this year. My shade garden needs a facelift, so your comment has inspired me to get with it.
I so enjoy your videos. I actually hate when their over. You are an inspiration to me and reading all the other comments, my thoughts are amongst many. I'm looking forward to begin some of your ideas in my garden as its lovely to view and I can only imagine the fragrance that fills the air. Love it. Blessings to you.
I don't get it ! I really don't ! I don't understand why Geri's videos don't get a lot more views. I love the videos and the gardens as well as the menagerie of pets at the Hollow. I love the fence with the animals cut into the pickets. I'm going to like the videos on my ( admittedly small ) Facebook page. We need to get more people to view these videos! They are works of art! I look for them every time I log onto UA-cam for inspiration. I am going to try to make some of the pickets for my garden. Geri, I love your art, your books, and your garden. Your work has pure soul.
+Randy Watts \Thank you very much! I don't post often, but I do have a few new videos planned for 2016....especially when I get a dozen little Lavender Chicks in May.
Neither do I! I have only discovered Hopalong Hollow and just love it! There are many many gardens and then there is Hopalong Hollow. I spend a lot of time looking at gardens on youtube and yes there are many but most show no real imagination or soul. Hopalong Hollow has soul in bucketloads. More videos please.
Thank you for that. I do believe a garden should be so much more than a tidy collection of plants, it should be cozy, romantic and personal, that's a what gardens mean to me, anyway,
I am just in awe of your beautiful gardens! We purchased a victorian cottage about a year ago, the landscaping here is nice, just not much color. I've always wanted an english cottage style garden - - your videos give me lots of inspiration! Thank you!
Marcie, You have the perfect backdrop with a Victorian home, an English Cottage garden is perfect for you. Plant a lot of cottage annuals and perennials.
Thanks for the tour of your cottage garden. I just love the sounds and sights, especially the geese! I have French Marans chickens and love to watch them roam around my property. Best regards from Sharon in VA.
Mandy, It seems peaceful enough, until all our geese, ducks and peacocks get excited about something. A hen laying an egg is always good for 10 minutes of crowing and cackling!
Oh my goodness I love it. I thought that house looks like a house near me. Well I went to your website and we are practically neighbors. I live in Rutledge too. I have passed your beautiful home many times. Such a small world.
Wonderful stroll thank you! ;) You have a perfect landscape painting just waiting to happen from the end shot of the peacock in display with your charming fencing and potting shed. :)
Just finished going around your front garden with you, & I must say I really enjoyed it. The ducks reminded me of a time that I lived in West Africa & rescued a couple of ducks, & voila, before I knew it, we had 11 ducklings wadding about the place. Your front garden is beautiful. I am thinking of getting rid of the lawn in our front garden area, & planting flowering shrubs etc. We already have several things planted there. You might just have inspired me to dig it all up & get planting.
I've got 3 nesting duck hens at this moment. I hope they don't have TOO many babies! It started with the grass removal in a small corner, and within in a few years, the entire front lawn was a vast garden bed. It's best to do in chapters. I've learned since this video to add more flowering shrubs and small trees because the bed is so deep, so I now have some Rose of Sharon, Vitex and a Crepe Myrtle tree in the bed along with the plants.
Wow your garden is so beautiful and welcoming and your voice is so calming. I have no green thumb and hardly any shade at all so watching your video is just awesome. The frog’s little smiling face is just adorable. Thank you so much for sharing. Do you have any problems with snakes in the garden?
My dream yard! The trees, the wild looking flowers, the brick pathways❤❤. And what a precious fence. I absolutely love birds❤. Should you ever venture to Yellowstone, I live an hour and a half south and would love to have you come give me some ideas😉. I have a feeling it will take us awhile to get anywhere near your little Eden as money is short and hubby works away from home most often (man power), but I hope to have this one day. Lovely job.
I went to Yellowstone as a youngster, grew up in Colorado. This garden always surprises me, it looks different every year. It's a tricky space since half is sun and the other half shade. I'll film it again this year and it will look very different! (but better).
Yes, That fence was quite a job, I designed and cut all the pickets and there are at least 400. Husband did all the rest. I love to build stone walls, but getting the rocks together is a bit of a hassle!
WOW, that's exactly the kind of garden I love and have also. Lots of flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, and berry bushes. Why bother with an unproductive, useless lawn when you can have this! Very nice video. Subscribed.
hi i really liked your garden very much..one question , i noticed you have peacock and i wanted to know what do you do in order to make sure that he remains there in teh garden open and not fly away? how do you make him stay in your garden ?
I know this is an old video, but I never tire of watching it. Just beautiful. Love the hills (or is it mountains) all around you. Makes your home look so cozy. :o) I especially love seeing the outside of your house. We are soon going to paint our house and I would like to change the color a bit. It is currently a faded gray. I am loving the green on your house. It is such a quiet and subtle color of green and the perfect background for your garden. What color of green is it? And is the white trim white? or an off white shade? White comes in so many off white shades and tones. And is your porch floor stained or painted brown? or is it a barn/brick red kind of color. We also have a wood porch that is needing repair and staining or painting.
Lindy, I believe that paint is Moss Green from Behyr. The trim is a very off white and a deep barn red. Our porch is stained and then treated with a weather barrier. We have the only green house is our county!
Good Morning Your garden is amazing and the animals are fabulous. how in the world do you keep the weeds out of that gorgeous brick walk way? we put brick around our veggie garden and tons of weeds popped through deezie
Deezie, It is a real trial keeping out the weeds. I laid weed barrier on one of my walkways, underneath the stone and bricks and the weeds STILL came through it. The only solution is to keep them under control with round-up.
I will try that. I have been pouring salt on them because I read somewhere it was a good weed killer. I think I will try the round up. Thanks. I love all your videos by the way have a great day deezie
What kind of hydrangeas to you have in this garden....I started last year in my front yard. I have a couple of them started but they dont seem to be very happy, although they both say for shade
Our pond sprung a leak. My husband drained it and found a small hole and plugged it with hot glue. Squishy enough to be able push some down hole to harden and then another thicker layer buttered over top of hole. If you dont want the white color of hardened glue showing I use a dark crayon when the glue is still Hot, Be Careful and mix in with the hot tip of the glue gun. Let it harden well. This has saved my frog pond for at least five years. Good luck.
Deborah, thank you for the detailed information, if ever I get another leak, I'll follow your advice. This video is pretty old, and we ended up draining the pool and then lining it with the standard pool "plastic". It's been pretty good since then, lots of frogs!
Sorry to be late. Maybe it can bless someone else also. I am a new follower of Hopalong Hollow. This site sings to my heart. By the looks of other comments all our hearts are happy to follow your Music, God loves it when we enjoy His gifts. I count you as one special gift to us. Thank You, Jeri and God Bless you🌹
Phylis, We have taken all the inventory out of the shop because it is now Art show season for us. We will be taking everything to the shows that will be running nearly every weekend starting at the end of Sept and going thru to Dec.. We may re-open right before Christmas after the shows. Other than that, Spring is the time to contact me. Thanks for asking!
I really like your style! When and how do you plant your larkspur seeds to get them like that? Do you broadcast them or what? Also, when you start a garden, do you plan it out on paper with a goal in mind or do they just "evolve" into what we see in your videos?
I did broadcast those larkspur seeds that year. The weird thing is, I never was able to repeat the success in consequent years. When I plan a new garden, I do draw out plans in my notebook, but things happen that you never expect and the gardens evolve in many ways. I guess that's why my gardens always look different from year to year. This front yard garden has changed a lot since I made this video. I will have to update it this summer!
Wow!!! This is an oldie. I absolutely love your videos and discovering this one was certainly special! That critter picket fence!!! 🥰 Love! Love! Love that!!! Thank you for sharing with us. I so enjoy your life! 🌼🌿💜
Yes, things have changed a bit since making this video!
If ever there was a magical flower, I think it would be a Columbine. They look like a tiny fairy wafted by when I wasn't looking and left them as a surprise. Your garden is a delight to the eyes and I'll wager it has a marvelous smell, too.
I don't have any here, but my home state of Colorado grows them like crazy.
I dont understand why 12 people dislike this beautiful video
I don't either....but I think some people are just unhappy and express it in mean ways.
Thank you for visiting my cottage gardens and your kind words. I subscribed to your channel and I am enjoying your tours. Oh Lark!!! 🥰
I watch your channel too!!! And learned so much from watching your home gardens.
Thanks for sharing!
💜🌿🌼🌿💜
You have a HUGE houes and grounds. I am so glad you have the energy for all this I really admire you
The house isn't that big... but there is a large acreage.
have a paradise there...I enjoyed seeing your beautiful home and the ducks, geese, peacock just hanging out with you. I'm a senior citizen & would be in heaven here on earth to sit back & enjoy the solitude & beauty of what you have created. thank you
Thank you Michael, we do feel very fortunate to live in such a lovely atmosphere with all these wonderful creatures around us!
Lovely. Such a variety of plants and visitors.
Beautiful garden! Love the fence you made! 🤗💐
A precious romantic world you have created, Jeri and so pleased you share it with us , Thank you
Thank you Gwen. I am so delighted that you are watching my humble attempts at making videos.
This is so beautiful. I love this garden. Please do some more videos of your beautiful garden 🌸🌼💐🍄🐝🐞
Absolutely delightful! This relaxes and inspires me beyond words. Beautiful.
Thank you!

The way I garden, too. Wish I had room for critters, but am in the city. I do have lots of bird and butterfly and bunny visitors.
Butterflies, birds and buns are good company too!
The picket fence! That is amazing! Also like the brick walk, rock wall and bird houses.
Your yard is absolutely perfectly imperfect; I am jealous ( not really) of the beauty that you have surrounded yourself with!
Linda y bendecida noche Jeri
¡Y bendición para ti también!

Those geese are the Royal Guard of the Farm, but very vocal.
Beautiful... would love a cup of tea or coffee in this garden, in the early morning :)
I REALLY APPRECIATE you going back and doing the commentary because I could not read the ornate printing
Beautiful
Thanks for visiting!
you live in a wonderful place just love your fantastic garden such a pieceful place.

Hello, I am a new subscriber and enjoy the videos a great deal. May i ask what u use as weed control
Thanks Joyce! In the flower gardens I lay heavy compost, at least 5-6" deep, around the plants. In the veg gardens I use thick layers of straw.
What kind of hydrangeas to you have in this garden....I started last year in my front yard. I have a couple of them started but they dont seem to be very happy, although they both say for shade
