I like it but why use a second layer? why not just use the original?

Hi Ron, I like to use the second layer as a form of masking. This way I mask the subject once in the Layer properties and then I can apply multiple tools to it without the need of adjusting the mask on each tool.
But you are right it could be done on the same layer. It's just another approach.
