Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!

My grandfather was in the CCC and helped build Backbone state park near Strawberry point. He was born and raised in DeWitt.
I love the 3588 IH we had on the farm I worked on in the '80s. We called it the bronto because it looked like a brontosaurs lumbering thru the field.
Thanks for bringing us along and congrats on ur purchase with a little TLC it will be good as new u live and learn like u said also Ron u gotta get on ur dads level and sport the mustache with him
Strawberry Point. My old stomping grounds 50 years ago. Hasn't changed a bit.
Sweet looking equipment there Ron!
Great video folks.
Wow those prices are high!! Can't make it worth your while at that price...but we saw the bud man and Ron so another awesome video
4020’s are beauties I have two of them ones a 65’ and other is 68’, still running like they left the showroom
It’s 4 degrees here and I’m walking around in shorts and a hodie
I see you have the Boss between you and your dad.
The ole auction 64 love that auction
We use to have a 6588. I loved the tractor.
Ron , operated a 2+2 when they first came out. Did not like the steering. Give me a 4440 or a 1086 and those are my favorites.
We bought a Case IH 5100 drill brand new in 1991 for $4800, I wish we had it back now!!!
When the new Holland PTO keeps spinning you need to change the fluids to fix that and for the type of planning that your dad wants to do use a three point broadcasting spreader Cheap and I will do the job even an old lime spreader
Highboy 4020 power shift. Rare…collectible
First, there's a town in Oregon, has strawberry festival, a parade, and the world's largest shortcake. Second, Budman w/cookie duster......third, Ron, with a year's head start on hunting beard, that he said last hunting season was grown seasonally. And thanks for J D update and a small glimpse of your job. Last that back blade will make short work of your concrete driveway. No more shovel.
What town in Oregon?
Lebanon
Can’t beat an old 4020! Don’t know where you have been but 4020 s have been selling for $10,000 to 15 for 10 years! Cheap hp for 100 hp +!
Well an 806 can beat a 4020 any day of the week in may ways.
@@johnhalter7287 Did not mention an 806 but 1066 is the same way as 4020!
You are a funny guy .
Rule number one about buying at auctions,,,,, never ever, ever, ever start the bidding. And like you said, hold back and see if they will split down. They usually will but listening to those cats seek that high boy, they didn’t seem inclined to do it.
That was a nice massey 1135 you walked past
We had a Binder actuated like that, we called it the Colonial Viper.
Was a bucking bull hauling liquid poop. The hinge pins were wore, getting rid of it was cheaper than fixing it.
yes, i can not fix stupid but i can take stupids, money? easily
John Deere is a better drill. You can see the seed coming through the metor on a JD. The hole opener assembly is built better on a deere and visibility to watch openers is better and the hitch is stronger and some are built to fold up. I have done thousands of acres, never go red drill.
Hope you brought the deutz dx110 absolute classic, German 4020 😂
I think you are ok on the blade. Compared to new price. Had to laugh when you were talking about the flutes on the drills. Those sold a lot closer to the prices I was thinking. I sold a 20 foot 5100 this spring for 4500 and thought I got good money but right now I don’t think 7500 is out of line. When you are looking at those older drills like that take the row units and swing them side to side. They have bushings on the front of them and they get worn out and don’t track well. Big pain in the rear end to change those. I have a lot of fun following auctions. Around here if you raise your hand and make a cut motion it means you will go half of the bid. Ie.500 becomes 250. I wonder if they do that back there? Good interesting video.
Thanks for the tips Lance!
@@HartungFamilyFarms thank you. I try to be helpful!
My brother was at that auction. The hydo 100 got up to 22,000 , but didn't sell.
Hey r you going to do a deer hunting video this year I loved the ones you done in the past
Ron, I would think that you would know that you can't look at prices from 2 years ago for any factor to used equipment today. Progressive Farmer and a multitude of other farm magazines have been filled with the effect of the economy (inflation) and Covid on all equipment. Frankly, compare the price of new drills against the ones you looked at. Farmers have to look at the used market to put their equipment dollars in order to make a living next year and maybe 2-3 years beyond.
Bratwurst and Sourcraut mmmmmmm dam that's good stuff Budman
my head is so cold could do with one of those beenie hats
Record prices all over this year again…supply and demand
Someone should make a Hartung Family Farms map for Farm Simulator. 👍
Started speaking like a union guy for a second when you said vacation entitled to. 😆
Gari.Henn
Where you work at JD is buying non green junk permitted or will you lose next pay raise?
If that blade is heavy duty, ya got it like new at used price.
When you get on the small amounts then someone almost always gets in and runs it up
Ron thanks for the update on the strike at Deere must be nice to be back to normal at work
You scab.
Tires and paint make it what it ain't
Unions...... Don't get me started
Everything is bringing double of what it was 2 years ago. No one has new equipment so they are paying up for used.
On the caseih drill, we took the grass seed hoses off and just let it fall as we would get it plug down at the end so it wasn’t seeding. I might be wrong but usually the fine seed box is on the front and the ones on the back were for your coarser grass seed.
If you would have split the bid it would have gone for $2750 ha ha.
I know that word "entitled" can be a trigger but when you work for a corporation and you have ETO, you are entitled to use it.
I would of finished watching but too many commercials
Sorry to hear that Shayne, I really can't control that, that's more on UA-cam's greedy self
