Grew up in the 80’s watching Kirkland Laing, I would marvel at his amazing style. He was a great boxer and a great man by all accounts. He’ll never be forgotten. Rest in peace brother. 🥊
That was a shocking stoppage.when you think of furys cut that was allowed to go 12 and Kirkland had no blood affecting his vision. you can't help but think that was a fix to progress the younger man's career.
Kirkland was a world champion who never was , unfortunately drink, drugs and women where his downfall but still an amazing talent. God bless ya Kirkland
Laing was on the undercard of a little event i was at, one time. Finsbury park, large tent : Benn v Watson intereresting fighter, i enjoyed watching him
How on earth can take away the genius of the greatest welterweight of all time ..Ali was the greatest heavyweight but Kirkland laing was the greatest boxer of all time. ...in a thousand years ali and Kirkland will still be studied ...naturally being the greatest
Robbed of what would have been. Probably. A great fight finale to. The Gifted One's Great Boxing Career. Stopped by a bad decision. Poor refereeing. Although I know you would have (with a shake of the head) taken the decision on the chin like the true Pro you were. I look forward to another game of snooker with you one day in the land of Sunshine. Chalk your cue and get ready for one more game. R.I.P Kirk.
Styles make fights , and the art of boxing is to hit but not get hit . Ali's style was similar, but he generally kept his guard higher , but not always , and they called him the greatest .
Laing's undoing was his arrogance which underlies his low-held hands, his annoying back-pedalling and his visible contempt for his opponents. His hand speed and punch variety were his better qualities.

I remember this guy well from the 1980's .To me he had a kind of weird boxing style ! A unique boxing style for sure .Great to see him again .
He beat Duran yet lost to guys no where near his talent.
Magnificent fighter

Laing was on the undercard of a little event i was at, one time. Finsbury park, large tent : Benn v Watson
intereresting fighter, i enjoyed watching him
Kirkland would have stopped the look there.
Two more rounds and that was over
Kirkland Laing had one of the most unusual styles of boxing I have ever seen. But it worked
He was 2 rd from getting ko’d Laing was getting to him
That’s the worst ‘cut’ stoppage I’ve ever seen. You couldn’t even see the cut!
Bad decision RIP kirkland
Nonsense. Laing was getting his groove on. Showing speed at 39. He'd started to get his number and was close to ringing it. Blooming cut doh!
To my best friend I watch this fight sorry they cheated you I still feel your presence so much
