I have been told my cancer is terminal and suddenly the lyrics of this song take on a whole new and deeper meaning. Earlier this year during a break from chemo I have had the opening three lines tattooed on my arm it is so etched on my soul. From the UK I discovered this band in 2001 from a work colleague but never got the chance to see them live. Take life by the horns. Don’t let it slip by. You never known how days may not turn out how you planned.
From Australia, where these brilliant boys are from, I send my love to you. Amazing band and amazing song, we all still miss them and the lyrics are profound. I love that you had the first 3 lines tattooed and I’m sure that they would be moved by that. I so hope that, you are ok ❤️
The measure of a truly brilliant song - you can play it a dozen different ways, a dozen different incarnations, and each one of them is bloody brilliant! Every time I hear this song, from the very first original version, the Odyssey #5 version and every single live version up until this, it just gets me every time! Sen-bloody-sational!!!
Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this since Saturday night. One of the most moving songs of all time and this is such a special recording.
Far out. As someone who's always had depression and has attempted suicide this song is adsactly how someone feels when they are suicidal. I know it's hard but it speaks. God bless
I was at your last concert at River stage, my son Jake was 14 and it was his first ever concert. I remember bawling my eyes out to this song 😂😭💕💕 Thankyou for blessing us once again Powderfinger ❤️
My best mate passed away in December last year and this song helps me through my down times absolute legends love these guys so much they kick arse!! 🤙
This song still makes me feel oddly nostalgic for when the world was locked down. I think there was still a feeling that there would be light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t feel that much anymore. These days are definitely not how I planned. But for this night (actually, early morning for me in the US) I had a bit of joy about my day. Thank you.
I was never really a big powderfinger fan when they were popular, but they were SO popular (in Australia) back in the day, that their music was always around, somewhere in the background of that time. I find myself reconnecting with that time through their songs now, and it's wonderful.
From my teens right through to my 20’s and 30’s your music was always my saviour from days of being high to my days of coming down. Your music kept me breathing, kept me believing I’d see better days ..... So grateful for powderfinger💓 you guys Fkn rock!
I’m not a super fan of powderfinger or anything. But I feel this song I love everything about it, the notes, the rhythm, the lyrics. This is in my opinion some of the best songwriting you’ll ever hear from any band, from any country
I’ve been lucky enough to see them play a handful of times. I was devistated when I found out they were breaking up. The sunsets farewell concert is something I’ll never forget.
Breaks me every time💚 we are coming to the end of Lyme Disease awareness month, and like many others around AUSTRALIA These Days turned out nothing like I planned... Thankyou for the Music 🎶
I have been so luck to be at their concerts, Its the one Aussie band I had that was my vintage. The songs have been in 'our' times shared with real events and people in our lives. Their songs bring back so much of those precious memories. So you can imagine the shock when you see the age of the albums and the words find the deeper meaning, felt even more as we have aged. These days truly are not what I had planed but in the end it never does nor I guess meant to. I hope they find the answer to develop another album, as artists they have a gift that can touch us all and teach us all. So I am a very greedy person and I want to share the experience of a concert with Powderfinger with the younger generation who as kids have grown up with this music and they can see why our music is so much better than some of the crap today. Well thats my excuse for them to get back to the recording studio's. So Boys, like with Joe DiMaggio our nation turns its lonely Eyes to you. Remember your fans have you guys 'On our Mind' and 'We Won't Take No From You This Time' I mean Maybe I Should Have Followed You and Beat Down Your Door (mind you if I really tried I would bounce strait off it and my kids would just laugh at me again hahaha) So remember your fans have 'Sunrise Building a Reprise In My (our) Heart', this is no 'Ballad Of A Dead Man' ok ok I'll stop, you get the message. All jokes aside you guys have given more to us than you will ever know and we are all very greatful, so Thank You
Getting swallowed up in this pandemic once again, my heart breaks, the balance of normality is an after thought. These days turned out like nothing I had planned 🥺
Australian music is so underrated. We're up there with the best of them

The shining light of the lockdown years for me was Powderfinger reforming for One Night Lonely. Meant so much to so many, I’m sure 💙💙

I watched this 2 years ago while on lockdown, I’ve seen them live a few times but this performance bought tears to our eyes.
The soundtrack to my life... thank you!

Sooo 2021! COVID....
I would have liked Darren's accoustic guitar to have been just a little bit louder in this otherwise near perfect rendition.
This song reminds me of Heath Ledger. Also, I feel old af.
