How can I get more information about how you run the zone circles? Thank you!

Excellent job sharing this strategy with your colleagues at the Coalition for Community Schools conference last May in Baltimore

They have these meetings everyday from 7 to 9??? That seems like a long time.

I think any individual student only goes one time. I think they meant the adults have it open every day for different students.

When the rest of your life is filled with trauma, a two hour meeting can be a safe and loving space.

Hello. I am the woman who created the Zone process. The other commenters are correct. They come once from 7-9. We have a great time. We had to build other programs to keep students from intentionally getting sent to the Zone. It’s such a beautiful space.

Are teachers doing this during class when there are no guidance counselors? Who has the time when there's no time built in to the curriculum?

@eckalecka No. The Zone is staffed by specialists and students are sent there because of an issue in class.

To learn you must first fail?

That’s not what I heard. The circle lets you be open to learning from failure or any moment or experience. “Listen with an open heart” is really a good way to walk through life.

A teacher is not a therapist. It is unethical to expect that.

The Restorative Circles you see here are staffed by counselors, not teachers.
