    This is exactly what I wanted to have in an electric vehicle. Awesome job! I hope you guys continue to make vintage looking vehicles without screens, bells, and whistles.

    A truck is a Tool, not a fashion statement. It's like a good power saw that does its job safely and comfortably with such ease that it gives you confidence.
    All the trucks on the market today are made for Rhinestone Cowboys. They are far too fragile to do real work without damage or go truly off-road.
    I've been waiting for this truck (or rather the B2) since 1997. I can't wait to get one.
    It's just brilliant.

    I really love this vehicle! I would love to purchase one as soon as I am economically able. One thing that really bothers me (not a deal breaker) is that the "frunk" hatch/where the grill would be on a combustion vehicle, looks out of place. I think that if I bought a bollinger I would modify that part to make it look more like a grill.

    I absolutely love this vehicle. Love the Portals!
    I've owned 2 Landrover 90s and one Landrover 110, 4 classic range rovers and a G wagon so this is right up my street.
    I'm a solid axle type but I like independent suspensions with long travel.
    The problem with really long travel independent suspension is that when the suspension compresses the ground clearance under the center of the vehicle vanishes, whereas with solid axles the lowest points under the diffs remain relatively constant.
    Any chance of a long travel solid portal axle version?

    • @BollingerMotors
      @BollingerMotors  6 років тому

      Thanks for the love! Since we're starting of with double the ground clearance than Jeeps and most SUVs and trucks on the road, we still have more ground clearance with compression than those vehicles started out with. And with our dual motor set up to avoid a transfer case, which would erase a lot of ground clearance, we can't do a solid axle. There are half axles coming right off the gearbox.

    So, that's the easy / fun bit done, now comes the hard, tedious and usually financially ruinous part where you try to get to production with it. Usually where you find all those 'amazing' engineering ideas are, well, not perhaps that fantastic for production............ Even at low volumes this is going be an expensive truck to build..........

    As a Tesla owner, I have to say I love this truck. I love the absolute practicality of its design. I love the enhancements they provide due to the EV nature of it, such as that passthrough. What a terrific idea! I also love the dash - how it's basically begging for additional customer provided controls, knobs & switches. I just hope that it comes out at a reasonably affordable price.

    • @rivengle
      @rivengle 6 років тому +1

      Getting to a scale of production that’s as big - and hence as cheap - as the mass market car is hard and requires a lot of knowhow and production capacity. Tesla’s been able to get the Model 3 down to where it is because of the lessons and assets they’ve acquired from building the Roadster ($$$$), and then the Model S & X ($$$). The Model 3 ($$) starts at $35K before any tax incentives.
      Tesla’s just making cars that are meant to compete with other typical luxury cars.

      Yes, we hope to get to a point of capacity where we can start to enjoy the benefits of scale, but that will be some time away. At first our trucks will have to be more expensive. But we're working hard to get the truck done right!

    There was a tremendous amount of detail that went into creating this first prototype and it shows. Quality wise, this thing looks like it blows regular production cars out of the water, thick aluminum and rivets everywhere. But, will this truck be able to be produced on a mass scale that is cost effective without decreasing the quality of the truck?

    I'm driving an old G wagon from 1997 and I love it but I hate the new G-class. It's no longer an offroad-machine, it's just a caferacer. I always hoped, that Mercedes will build a very basic electric G wagon for those like me who love to play, who love to "take the shortcut" or just enjoy the mud and dirt... Mercedes didn't. Land Rover also didn't build it. Jeep? Mmmmhhh... not really. BUT you guys, you did it! You build the car I'm dreaming of and I was searching for. It will not replace my G wagon one day but I'm pretty sure a Bollinger B1 will join my "car family". Not only as a car, as another 4-wheel-pet ;-)!

    This is an excellent project. Some of us just like to drive....without all the techno bull crap. It would also be nice to do basic repairs on my Electric SUV. My be Jeep or Rover will someday get a clue about electric SUVs. Till then Bolinger will be the only option out there for those that can afford it.

    So much room for hydrogen-tanks and fuelcell wasted. We will order some vehicles to show, how the range can be extended massively

    It's kept simple with nothing fancy and it's nice,it looks like the love child of a 1st gen bronco and a land rover and it's pretty bitchin'

    Hopefully the insurance won't be too expensive for the average consumer. I will be purchasing one of these.
