Yes, it is so nice to have these things in common. It wasn't always so, at least with the ham radio part. Thanks for visiting the channel and giving it a view. 73
I suppose this may be helpful to some. Most subscribers are here for more than just the pointers. But if they just want the 10 essentials rundown there it is. Thanks.
Good video, enjoyed the QSO. Really liked your approach to the 10 essentials. You should exercise your overnight survival skills to verify you have the essentials, including navigation at night. You'll learn alot! I especially support your suggestion that everyone take a wilderness medicine first aid (WFA) course. I was shocked to find my wife had never taken a 1st aid course, so we took one together. Nearly waste of time as they covered the basics, with no practical exercise. WFA was a far better course, and I recommend it above any basic 1st aid course.
Great video, Red. I'm a hiking novice and a SOTA rookie with only a handful of 1 and 2 point activations under my belt so far, good reminder that we should be packing the essentials when headed out.
Oh that's cool - UA-cam algo working hard for me HAHA. Yeah, this was a fun trip and the 10 essentials list is no secret, although I am surprised how many don't know about it. No doubt you did already.
Hi there. Thanks for the comment. Not sure about outside the USA, but here the only commercially available "Anti Venim" costs about $10,000. Almost all first-aid instructors will recommend avoiding snakes and getting to a hospital asap if bitten, as the best course of action. I guess it all depends on if you can afford the doses. Diarrhea pills would be a good addition for a backpacking trip, yes. Thanks for returning to the channel. Truly appreciated!
I could watch Sandy all day, thanks for the great video. you are a speed demon at CW. I still don't understand all the shorthand used in CW. It is unintelligible to me. W4SEX
Enjoying radio and nature with a wife that shares your passion, you are a lucky man.

Came for the ham radio, “liked” for the mountain scenery.
Thank you QRPlife! I really appreciate the feedback.
Excellent tips and great dual SOTA activation. California says "You're welcome" for the forest fire haze.
LOL yeah get that CA some outta here. Thanks Dennis.

@@RedSummitRF hey don't mention it. You're welcome 👍
Great video. Should be called "10 non-radio" items to carry for SOTA. Now we need a video on the 10 radio items to carry. 73
Good suggestion. Will do!

Love the translated Morse as a learner. Let's me check my own decoding as I watch.
Thanks for sharing that Derek. Apparently there are quite a number of subscribers who share your sentiment.

Yes, totally agree, and a great suggestion on the night navigation and actually putting the essentials to the test. Thanks for visiting the channel!

So true. Always good to have the reminders. Thanks!
Great stuff Charlie / Sandy. My 10 essentials are pretty close to being the same.
Thanks Malen. I'm in good company then.
Okay I have to admit... the seeing you do the code back and forth was pretty cool :)
Well thank you! It is really fun communicating with Morse code.
Nice job you two. This popped up after yesterday’s foray into the 10 essentials with ARK.

Great Video Red, I really appreciate the run down on the 10 essentials you use.
Thanks for stopping over to the channel
