Heard both Chihiro Yamanaka - (in this song), and jennifer Leitham’s song “Split Brain” on Jazz 88.3 not long ago today. Besides being a bassist, I was looking up Jenner’s badass vocals and I ran back into this song. This is bliss ... don’t think I could have ever planned that. Synchronicities... hmm
I met you also here. Honestly, I like Hiromi Uehara. Chihiro is a very good pianist.The good groove is emitted when carrying out a hot performance. But ,I feel the extraordinary talent for Hiromi. She can be the greatest musician in Japanese history . She can make various original sounds by herself. Calm music is also thrilling, and with hot music, it explodes.And I feel that it is the sound which I have not heard anywhere. Although it is eventually a favorite issue.
Lots of great shots of Jennifer.....Chihiro's face and movements are so exaggerated and Jennifer is going right with her but she makes it look like a walk in the park!
She's off the charts good...Hiromi good? Not quite. Chihiro sticks closer to traditional trio jazz style. Hiromi is bold and aggressive not only in her playing but her composing, and more versatile, drifting into fusion and avant more than Chihiro. Matter of taste whose better? Chihiro is off the charts, Hiromi defines the charts.
My God i cant stop watching this over and over. they play soo well together. I also love that powerful drumming by Allison Miller. Did they record CD s together ?
Interesting stuff,, lot of chops but where has the feeling gone it's all about the story & NOT JUST THE MATHS, keep at you will eventually get it right that is for sure

Chihiro attacks the keys as if preparing a score for the outbreak of WW 3. Not sure how long most jazz folks could stand this crashing piano racket. I for one 2 mins max. And for heavens sake, whatever happened to melody?
