Thanks for sharing this review. I also liked the movie when I was a kid and I'm starting the book now. What you said about the Postman's lie(in the book) kinda getting so big in sorta comes true reminds me of a scene from the movie that I never understood. It's been awhile, but if memory serves towards the end of the movie, one of the mail couriers, maybe Ford, is captured along with some guy we've never seen before, and that guy claims to be from the restored Republic of California(?) or something like that. In the movie, we never see or hear anything else about it, but the idea that the hope inspired by the Postman's lie has become a self-fulfilling prophecy makes sense. Anyway thx for sharing.
