You are so right! I had forgotten what Yellow sounds like, but after listening to it again, I also found these two songs very similar. < Not a criticism of Pakho, just an observation.

Lols I don't think it sounds like coldplay's yellow, chord pattern is different.
but there are many similar "styles"-yeh brit rock
And the important thing is that Pakho did not copy the melody from "Yellow." There's nothing wrong with using the same structure and chords.
I like pakho a lot too but the song is dangerously close to coldplay's yellow. It can't really be a coincidence that the structures are so similar as well...

Yeah, the thing is I don't find it odd if he listens to coldplay since it's pop rock and so popular. Sometimes when you've heard of a certain melody once, it's too easy to simply integrate it in your composition (just like writing essays, profs constantly "remind us" not to plagiarize...). But nonetheless it's still a nice melody here, I'm sure he won't want to publish crap under his name!

Well legally (if I remembered correctly) you may "borrow" up to a certain length but you cannot directly copy a whole segment. That itself will also violate the copyright infringement law, similar enough to downloading music illegally. And besides, psychologically, all 'composers' who are trained musically have an ego towards their own music, so in most cases they don't copy. If anything, it'll sound similar to a referential song, or simply bad and boring.
