Move the duck pond further away from the chickens’ water. Possibly build a shed/porch to cover water and food containers to protect from rain and sun. Thanks for sharing!
Michael. You must build a proper fence for the chickens or you will have a repeat disaster, guaranteed unless the whole property is sealed up all the time and in your country setting that's very hard to do. Muriel is a very special chicken!
This is the BEST advice! You certainly can DO IT Michael, I have NO doubt about your ability, you must decide if you want a repeat of that awful event 😯🥲🤔🙂😊
@Stella Marie Poetry and Green Arts Have you watched Billy's channel? He's incredibly busy with his own projects inside the chateau. The whole family contributes to the renovation and upkeep, and they help each other out all the time. The chickens are right outside Michael's door, so it does make sense they have become his little "pet" project ;)
Here in Australia the foxes would be in there quick time, lots of bodies left, no heads. We have chicken wire 6ft high & 1ft under ground at fence line going into pen. Usually they are locked into hen house overnight.
I was thinking the same thing. Why replenish the chickens if you're not going to try and prevent what happened to the last ones?? Please get a higher fence ! That fence is low and can very easily be breached. Poor Chickies😢
With winter coming and the birds all getting bigger - will they need more space for shelter? I'm absolutely up for a "renovate the bird coop with me" video 😁
With my hens, they will slow down laying eggs when the temperature drops. As long as they have calcium ( I use crushed oyster shells) and a higher protien chicken feed, they'll continue to lay eggs threw the winter.
Great vlog thank you Michael. Definately a new fence needed to protect the chickens, ducks and turkeys. We will be happy to watch you build a new fence.

Hi Michael I hope this comment is not too direct, we love your chickens and we are really sorry to hear about the incident of the 9 chickens, we have 3 hens where we are foxes are very bad for the hens so we put up high fences and netted roof, we have to tuck them in before sunset (at the moment around 7pm). The food containers need to be hang high up to prevent rats ( rat is too cleaver so isn't really help but it's better than nothing our neighbors said.) We hope the birds are going to be safe from the predictors.
Need to get the feeder off the ground, it will attract mice and rats and they will crawl into the feeder. Feeder should be hung from a beam by wire just low enough for chickens to get to it. Mice can also jump, so consider not filling the feeder, you'll need to clean the feeder often.
The ducks would benefit from a larger pool to swim in and develop their swimming. In the winter, you'll want a heat lamp in that chicken coop for the chickens and maybe even the ducks. Do you provide the chickens with some oyster shell to build up their shells? I didn't see any out for them. The grey ones are absolutely gorgeous! Are they maybe Lavender Orpington? I used to work at a garden centre that had rescue chickens - we had a wide variety of chickens including a couple Lavender Orpingtons. I had a lot of fun naming them. We had Fritz the Frizzle, Foghorn Leghorn, Attila the Hen... Chicken names are a tonne of fun. Fritz used to chase Attila around the garden centre - it was very entertaining, watching them run circles around the customers.
After Michael demonstrates how to fill up the new water containers and the new feeder, the ducks are standing around looking into their pool and looking like, hey what about putting some water into our pool, what about us. Lol

You’ll want to our both feeder and water under cover. If it rains the feed inside the feeder will wick up water and get moldy. The water jug will grow algae in the sun. Great buys tho! You’re going to need a bigger coop tho. Turkeys are VERY bossy.

Build a better fence but if you can't do that run an electric fence wire around the base at about 60mm above the ground run that particularly at night and it will keep foxes etc out. Also, that waterer is great but it's plastic and the sun will kill it it will go brittle and crack so keep it in the shade all the times.

I absolutely love this video Michael! It's s nice to see Florian taking part along with you! Ernest is such a cutie....lovely, lovely family! Good luck with the fowl....perhaps a higher fence would ease everyone's mind....those little things can fly and I'm not liking the sound of the neighbours dog. The new video you showed a snippit of looks fantastic! Can't wait to see more of your great productions Michael!
Beautiful piece of music with the tease on the best bits 👍🏻
Florian is a cutie on the video. Love the new birds and Earnest is adorable. Gwen is looking nice and slim. How fun it would be living in a Chateau! Keep the videos coming.😍
Looking lovely and the birds are all so wonderful. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you amongst all the beauty. 💕
Build a better fence but if you can't do that run an electric fence wire around the base at about 60mm above the ground run that particularly at night and it will keep foxes etc out. Also, that waterer is great but it's plastic and the sun will kill it it will go brittle and crack so keep it in the shade all the times.
J’Adore Florian! 🤩💙
Michael, I enjoyed the video immensely. Florian is a great addition. I'm surprized that he speaks english as well as he does.
Another fun vlog. So happy to see the chickens replaced. Love the turkeys, the ducks and the new toys to keep them fed and hydrated. Little Ernest was just so excited with the arrival of all the new chickens, ducks and turkeys. Thanks for sharing ❤ 😍 😘
Loved seeing you and your family and your animal friends
I'm not a child-person, but Ernest talking was so adorable
Cute how he Wanted to be brave with the chickens but just couldn't manage it... 🐓🐔🐤🐥🐐Goats not pigs please. 🌹💕
@@TheasChristmasVillages With goats u get cheese, pigs just give meat. I wouldn't want to raise something & name it just to eat it. Michael has named his chickens so it's not likely they're going to make a pot pie out of them. Have an Egg & Cheese farm...
Same. Ernest kinda makes me be a mom one day.
@@marshawargo7238 I've seen far too many photos of goats having jumped onto cars to recommend them. However, pygmy goats look absolutely adorable
@@TheasChristmasVillages Jeepers, nobody brought that up, nor is disagreeing with you. Calm down...
Oh ! Florian , I've got it now ! Any way , I love him he is kind funny and tries so hard to be correct. Liked your outro also ,very fun !
Florian I will have a great weekend 😁 thank you Michael for another lovely vlog
