I remember it was on the evening of June 6, 1969, the day of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Allied landing in France, and I imagined a GI singing this song "I want to live", just before landing on a beach of Normandy ... Since then, this song has remained for me a tribute to the memory of all those poor young boys who stayed there ... 😔

As a Child I was brought up on Aphrodities child and early Demis Roussos. They moved me as a child and I'm still moved now - this song in particular always gets me teary with its passion and the unmistakable genius of this mans voice, which I cannot ever see being bettered.
I cant believe I've never seen this footage, so I feel blessed today to discover this and relive this beautiful song again.
In the early days of covid, I saw couples face the ultimate darkness in hospitals, reaching out and holding hands for the last time, and I always sang through my tears 'I needed you to take hold of my hand'.
I'm not sure theres as much empathy in the world these days, but a song of this passion will always be a gift to humanity and I feel Demis will be remembered for ever and ever and ever..
.............six months later, another! Sadly, Vangelis passed away today at 79...RIP!

I just found this incredible band and I am in awe. Demis Roussos was my mums favourite singer and I started to listen to his great hits. However I found there was this band from his younger days, cannot even describe how this great music make me feel. I have been in quaranteen with C for a week and I have played so much of this and am truly grateful for this music. There was much more to Demis Roussos than I ever thought.

As a child, from 1069 up today, i listen to his songs aaaal the time, and never have enough. Especially the original songs with Aphrodite's child are masterpieces from the 20th century. His god-given voice is so outstanding, that it never can't be confused with anybody else's voice.
