The map is great but some of the OG guns make it great for me, just feels so much more simple compared to what the game has become and that’s what always made the game great to me was the simplicity of it. Really enjoying this mode I wish this could be a standard playlist option to choose

Honestly, my main issue is the assault rifles. I didn't remember they had so much bloom. Shooting at someone from 100m+ is literally impossible unless you're using a sniper or a scoped assault rifle. Other than that, it's great

I instantly don't like it. I've only been playing less than a year so this doesn't bring back anything for me, just looks like a big downgrade from last map.

Its definitely not just the map. The loot pool is entirely different which completely changes gameplay
@@PrecisionCalc completely agree. We NEED scarce loot in modern fortnite. It needs to be part of the gameplay to search for it and to conserve the ammo you find with your guns. It makes it so much more competitive and make every choice matter. It’s so much more fun and satisfying to me lol

I feel like they’ll go backwards. It was an experiment to see if people will actually want to play this. And from here they’ll go to season 4 map, then season 3 and hopefully all the way to season one. I’m loving it so much and I haven’t played in years

Your right in some ways but it’s also that people are way better then they used to be which makes the game feel a lot different because back in the day you could always eventually get a win no matter how bad you were cuz there was always someone worse then you.
I do miss the memories, still love the game.
From someone who is relatively new, I can appreciate the nostalgia. It’s good hype. The map seems quite difficult to navigate for zero build.. also I dunno if I’m the only one but loot seems really scarce. Overall I love seeing games go back to their roots but I’m left feeling quite disappointed if I’m honest.

Leaving a stream on for 24 hours isn't a 24 hour stream. Anyone can do that. Dude literally went to bed during downtime and put on old content on repeat. Went from like 17k to 5k viewers (probably people who literally forgot they put it in or fell asleep to it) but sure. Hooray 24 hour stream! Totally bro

Just hoping we get a season 1/2 variation with tomato town and anarchy. Loved October 2017 to January 2018 playing this game. The season 5 map isn't too bad but a shame its only the 1 week. I reckon people will prefer the simplicity of the game and map during this week and the next couple.

i started this game on season 2, i was in year 8 and was young... now I'm in year 13 and almost leaving school, i have a job and now i teach other children, thinking how long its been is genuinely bring tears to my eyes, it isn't the same as back then but its a step in the right direction

In Chapter 5 they need to add an extra mode where the OG map and OG loot pool are still playable. Like Zero Build, make a whole new extra Battle Royale mode.

Guys, if you are wondering to yourself why the earlier seasons were way better than the ones coming out lately, ITS THE MAP DESIGN. Let’s talk about why this is the case.
To start with what I think is the largest and most beneficial change compared to what we have seen in current fortnite, is the fact that there is vastly less chests and loot littered around the map in general, and this pushes you to be more cutthroat in where you land and steal the loot before others can. The chests are the quickest and easiest sources of guns and, arguably just as importantly, facilitators of quickly acquired resources like wood and metal so that you can protect yourself and get to places by building. (If you don’t get the resources from chests you have to mine your own, and that takes precious time). The map design is more open and the terrain is designed to make you build to get to the strategically best spots (the mountains in the late-game and the buildings in the POIs when you need resources, which again there are way less of). This combined with the limited and slower traversal options (no cars or vines or light roads, you can’t swim in the water) further creates a forced reliance on more thoughtful planning of where to choose to go as the game progresses. Since there are a limited amount of items that can enhance your movement, it causes those to become all the more valuable as well.
Secondly, the design of each of the POIs is just plan better than what we’ve seen for awhile. Each one has thought and care put into it not just in the graphical design, but primarily the layout and functionality of each object and structure in the locations. Each place is designed to be a playground for gunplay and the utilization of gadgets to aid that gunplay. Additionally, not every location is functionally the same, each has different challenges to overcome, so it creates variety. For example, Loot Lake has many buildings surrounding it and there there is good loot in the center, but you run the risk of falling in the water and losing mobility if you fail to keep yourself on your feet. Each POI was designed to present unique challenges and layouts, and because of this it causes the gameplay to be vastly heightened in terms of potential strategies, choices of moment-to-moment traversal, and risk-reward ratio. No POI had NPCs with quests to distract from the main goal or to make the player half-willingly kill them get good loot from vaults, it was solely focused on the players, and their interactions with each other and the environment.
These are the prime things that make old fortnite better in a gameplay standard, and I really hope that Epic can find some way to bring back this more competitive gameplay into modern fortnite by making the locations more functional and force the players to buildings to protect themselves more, the chests and items more scarce, and... take the fluff like NPC quests out, it makes the game so much less competitive to have those distractions and loses the point of the prime goal of the game. I love fortnite and I think it’s creators just need their perspective shifted back to what matters in the gameplay.

It's pretty close to the original season map, not exactly the same but close enough. For example I don't remember that there was a desert biome to the south of Retail Row. Still, it feels good. I hope that when this event is over, the OG map will always be available as a creative mode island. Or several of them in different week versions.
The map starts at season 5 then switches between seasons randomly throughout the month. That’s why there’s the desert instead of moist mire.

The map isn’t what we miss. It’s the players and the fun moments with friends is what we’re nostalgic for… not Junk Junction, Haunted hills, lonely lodge or flush factory.

The graphics make the map look plastic AF.
The POIs are way worse than I had remembered… salty springs is literally 5 houses and a gas station, landed there today and got 2 smgs and a chug jug with no ammo or additional meds
And for the record, I wish they didn’t go back, as I don’t thrive for nostalgia like the entire community seems to do for god knows what reason. Most of the hysteria around the chapter 1 map comes from the people who didn’t even play it. They heard their favourite streams like Ninja or Sypher saying how badly they wanted ch1 back, and they just follow the crowd and agree with them.
