What is the benefit of having an Ethernet connector on the carrier board?

Direct communication with the FC at ethernet speeds, and its a single wire, instead of multiple UARTS to connect to each device. You can run multiple (up to 4) different protocols over the same wire.

Could a serial uart adapter to ethernet on a cube orange work as well?
