Overall, I am a bigger Leonard Nimoy fan than a DeForest Kelley fan, but I absolutely adore Mr. Kelley. He was the sweetest person ever to walk the earth. I miss him. :( R.I.P. Mr. Kelley :(
Awww I love that,”from the reel McCoy to the real McCoy!” I also love it how he’s inspired so many people to become doctors! Honestly he kind of got me thinking about being one too! I probably won’t be one, but he definitely made me more aware of that option for a career in the future! He seems like he was such a great guy, and I wish I was alive when he was! It’s a bummer he left us so soon! 🥺💔 I bet he’s having a blast in heaven right now with God tho! 🥺❤️
My father had his own construction company and many of the men saying I am not no brick layer Jim. He mentioned this at dinner, and we told him it's from last week's episode of Star Trek. He thought some of the brick layers were going to quit.
$2500 per show wasn't bad for an actor in the 60s but DeForest was underpaid until he finally got the right amount in one of the films. He seemed like a really nice guy. Star Trek was on today per a film. They were beaming down to the place where Genesis was thought to be & Bones said, "There might not be anything there" as if going into nowhere while the Captain said, "Then it will be a good way to get away from it all" so they had a few comedy moments with Bones since he hated the transporter and never trusted it. DeForest was a good actor who was simply underrated & that is a shame but I think he was happy in life which is what matters so I'm glad he did well. He was nearly 6' tall at 5' 10" without shoes but he looked so short compared to the others. Gone nearly 15 years now & that's sad but he made it to 79, had a good life which is better than most actors. There will not be another Bones on Star Trek to take his place. Not possible. The new Captain, Chris Pine did a good job especially in the 2nd film & new Spock does well. The others are okay but not like the originals. imo
Curious about the moon landing story, the first manned mission to the moon was on July 20, where as the very last TOS episode aired two months earlier, meaning it was filmed much earlier than that. I call BS on that one. Sorry Dee..
Yep, exactly what I thought when he said it. But then, speaking 20-odd years later, memory is probably allowed to be a bit fuzzy. Mandela effect and all that.
De's statement also surprised me a little! The final episode "Turnabout Intruder" was shot in the first week of January 1969. Maybe De means the Apollo8 mission. it took place on December 21st, 1968.

hard to believe the age difference between the cast @ Star trek.. Deforest past away age 79 @ 1999
He said in this interview that they were filming the last episode of Star Trek when astronauts first landed on the moon. He is obviously mistaken. The final episode was broadcast June 3, 1969. Apollo 11 landed on the moon July,20 1969, more than a month and a half later, making it unlikely that they would have been filming it during the moon landing
Hey! Pay De some respect! He was a great actor and a great guy! Total sweetheart and gentleman and down to earth guy! Pay the man some respect! It’s DeForest Kelley we’re talking about! He plays the best Doctor ever! Dr. Leonard McCoy!
It's so amazing to hear that fans became physicians because of DeForest's character, Dr. McCoy
" He's dead......Jim "
But not forgotten. Rest well Mr Kelley.
"Remember"
De was a wonderful human being. What you see is what you get could have been written just for him

A lovely down to earth, humble guy.... RIP Dee.
Deforest Kelly was paid a million dollars for his role in Star Trek the undiscovered country. Leonard Nimoy helped him secure that salary.
Cool never knew that!
i know I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know a good website to watch newly released movies online ?

He was superb in Bonanza as a Dr. Man was he a could character actor!!
No Dee, by July 1969 when the moon landing happened ST had already wrapped, by March '69 at least. Last episode was aired in June of that year.
Class Act
