Just hit 4500miles on my 2021 Turbo Levo Comp alloy. Amazing bike climbs just about anything (including VT mountains). Haven’t changed much after first fitting (grips, saddle etc). Works really well right out of the box and is pretty durable. I do recommend replacing the chain often (
My buddy bought a turbo levo carbon expert and recently got something caught in his chain and it ripped the derailer off of the frame and destroyed the frame, the derailer, and the wheel. I'm really happy with my alloy frame! I I got my derailer caught up but it only cost me a $20 derailer hanger.
I think the bike is super fun. I'm a mechanic at a dealership and frequently hit up our demo fleet. I rode the alloy and switched to a carbon comp mid ride. When we switched bikes we made some suspension adjustments which really helped. I can't tell any difference in the ride as long as the bike is dialed in. One thing for sure a 63 year old retired crit racer can still have fun on the new bike trails
Very fun bikes! Been loving mine so far
Definitely one of the best mid power eMTB out on the market. I changed the tires to Maxxis Assegai front and Minions DHR IIs and got a OneUp Carbon bar and this thing handles and grips much better than before.
Awesome! That’s a good tire combo. Did you stay with 35mm handlebar?
@@frankiesemtb Yup!
Mid power? Not much out there more than 90nm.
I did the Vorsprung smashot coil up front, Push 11 Six coil in the back, XTR drivetrain and 220 mm rotors front and back and I bought a chip to delimit the 20 mile an hour limit and it is a beast!
And yeah, it is not mid power! I run assegai max grip upfront and DHR II Max Terra in the back.
I’m not sure why so many have mixed feelings about the code brakes. After doing some research. I found out that the code r’s and rsc’s run the same calipers. After swapping just the levers from the code r’s to rsc’s, which is super easy for those DIY’ers. I’m loving my code rsc. I also upgraded my rotors to the sram HS2 rotors. I still kept it the stock size front and rear because i felt like they were more than enough braking power for this big boy weighing in at 215lbs at 5’11. I have the S4 same bike as yours. Love this bike ❤. Keep up the good content. Love watching your vids bro.
Thank you! It’s not so bad once you get use to the codes.
Had an alloy and carbon Levo. While weight is not noticeable, the ride quality was. Getting back into riding again and will go with the Levo Expert. Solid build.
Great bike! Loving it more every time I ride it!
@robfrasier9412 do you mean the ride quality is better on the alloy version?
I’ve changed the disk rotors to two part floating disks and it’s great I had to relearn the breaking when I went out on it for the first time.
That's a 2022 comp alloy though. I just bought a 2023 comp alloy and that comes with the mastermind display
ahh, i hope they have the MCU as an upgrade!
It's a 21/22 model with the fox 36s 22 models had rockshox, looking at then just now myself just he put me off them with saying how bad the sus was but didn't remember seeing them with fox 36s but yeah the s2 small comp fox 36
Thanks for the information
@@EMTBonsai I rented one today and omg I need one now the suspension felt soooooo nice haha.
I just bought this bike and I’m waiting for it to come in. I can’t wait. Great review, thanks for the video.
thanks! such sweet ride your gonna love it!.. let me know if you are planning to ride it stock or going to upgrade components!
You're gonna love it! Spend time getting it dialed in and fitting you right.
I just got the carbon comp a few days ago, it seems pretty nice. It does feel like i need a lot more speed to clear the big jumps.
Just ordered a 2023 comp alloy, would have liked the carbon frame but no S1 available, Plan on carbon bars and some titanium bolts, my 59th year birthday present to myself. Wife picked up an expert about 2 moths ago, she is loving it. Purchased our 11 year old daughter a Levo SL Kids with 24" wheels. Thanks for the review.
Just bought the 2023 comp alloy with the Mastermind TCU. The only adjustment for now is swapping the Code R breaks for Magura MT5 Pro’s (203 mm front and rear). The Code R’s going to my hardtail xc bike. These double piston breaks should give the xc bike more than enough stopping power. Now waiting for delivery of the Levo. Can’t wait!
Congrats! I’m loving the bike so far! Made a few upgrades on the suspension and it’s running great!
@@frankiesemtb I also ordered an alou in a simple configuration, like 23 years old, how can I find out with Mastermind TCU or not the old system
Bro thank you for the review in the market of one can’t wait
Perfect time to purchase with all the discounts happening right now! you are going to love it!
I got mine 3 weeks ago in Ireland from Specialized shop in Dublin. 5500 euro very happy with the bike!
your thoughts were pretty much how i felt about my comp carbon i picked up as well. I will be changing out to the performance elite fork in the front and using Maxxis Assegai's front and rear. I look forward to seeing your future mods
Super excited.. my first mod is done and i'm making the next video stay tuned!
Currently building the 2022 comp alloy and have just done fox factory 38 and seems perfect for bear or vail!
Very Nice!
116 from Push will transform the bike. I also converted Fox36 to coil w/ Marzocchi, which improved mid support and reduced arm pump.
Great choices! Very interesting with the marzocchi!
Nice bike dude
thanks! i'm loving it so far!
I think this may be my next bike!
Been enjoying mine so far!
2022 blue levo gone 27.5 f & r gone 180 marzocchi z1 fork thinking of the 160mm cascade linkage. Spank 50mm riser bars chromag 35mm short stem, i want the metal bash plate thinking going gx axs and maybe some magura brakes
Sick! Interesting with the 27.5 f&r! I like it! Great choices for upgrades! Maguras are nice.! you still in the stock codes?
@@frankiesemtb yeah the geos stayed pretty much spot on and she's really lively now! Still on the code r thinking of trying some uber components e martixs pads as they've been alright so far
thinking of buying one soon to replace my 2004 Epic Comp. Was thinking about the Turbo Levo vrs The Levo Sl...Anyway, thank you, nice Video.. Any new impressions after having it a while?? thankyou.
my new levo carbon made sense at $5k w 700wh batt w 500wh batt.
That is also a great deal! Great market for buyers. Have you done any customizations so far? Always love to hear what people are doing with their new bike!
Love your breakdown videos! I am having a hard time deciding between this one and the Kenevo expert with dual crown boxxer fork for SoCal trails like Greer, Vail, Etc. and Snow Summit. Everything I read says no downside to the Kenevo in climbing and especially plows the downhill. Both about 5600 and no tax was going on the 4th. I think that is over but the sale is still on. Whatcha think?
Nice! I would definitely pick the Levo over the Kenevo here in SoCal. The kenevo will perform better at summit but once bike park season is over your back to climbing especially at Vail.. greer isn't too bad but i can already see myself cursing on a few of the switch back with a dual crown
Come see us at Temecula Bicycle Warehouse; we now carry Specialized and have the bikes in store.
It’s sold now also with the new TCU.
that is way better! i hope they sell the MCU as an upgrade
Love Roy’s in Upland!!!
Nice Review! I see you have the S3, what height are you?? i've gone through a merida e140 900e in large to trek rail 9 in medium and now gone back to analogue with the stumpjumper which is an S3 which i find a bit short, im just over 5ft 9, wanting to get another eeb and considering the Levo but as always im between sizes, any thoughts?
I think S4 would be a good fit if you are used to riding larger sizes.. i'm around 5'8" and i find perfect for me since I like a nimble smaller poppy feel.
So the 2023 Comp Alloy is the same as the 2022 Comp Alloy? What chain did you upgrade to, an X01?
it seems 2022 and 2023 are the same.. but from the comments here the 2023 has the Mastermind display. I'm still on the NX but I am going with the X01
This or Mondraker Crafty R?
Love Roy’s!!!!
Is there any differences in the 2022 to 2023 models?
I’d also like to know too
Love mine and it can go anywhere. Just need to upgrade the drive chain to Link Glide to get some reasonable life from the cassette. SRAM is way too light and not strong enough to handle the 90NM.
Hi Frankie, for the price I'm curious why you didn't go with the much better spec'd fezzari timp peak elite? You seemed to rave about that bike.
Believe me it was a tough decision! But In The end it came down to the motor.
@@frankiesemtb Thanks for the response, such a hard choice when spending this much money!
Anyone know what the difference is between the Levo's currently on sale vs the new releases coming online back at full (but seemingly slightly reduced MSRP). Dropped into my first e-bike this year (Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH) and I am totally sold now on the concept enough to retire my StumpJumper Comp and head to a Levo Comp.
I purchased a tubro Levo with the Rockshox 35 front fork. I am not that great of a rider. but the front fork feel like a pogo stick. I set the sag but I still dont like it. do you think upgradeing to fox 38 would make a difference. I am 6'1" about 215 lbs
Hi Mike it would definitely make a difference! I would go with a fox 38 performance elite. Go straight with the grip 2 damper. Or a rockshox Zeb ultimate charger 2 damper to save some costs
are these bikes 25 kg? Thanks
Anyway to make this bike go faster?
I just spoke with our local dealer and for the $5624 the model is the Gen 2 2022 model, not the 2023 version which is $7000 and not on sale. Apparently the 2023 has Mastermind and possibly some improvements to rear shock and the motor. Can anyone confirm any of this?
For anyone looking at this review late in the year. The Gen 2 with Mastermind is what I see on the Specialized site today. $5999.
i got a levo comp in december, because of snow and ice, I have only more or less ridden it on flatish surfaces. The only 2 times i took it really off road and went up some slopes with stones and roots I snap the chain. 2 times it has happened allready. I must figure out what I am doing wrong. :( Im sad that a 5K bike chain doesnt hold better. But I figure it must be me, after watching so many reviews of the bike before buy, and i never saw a mention of this anywhere. 😢😢
quick question are you changing gears while you are giving torque and going up slope?
@@frankiesemtb Yes, pretty sure that was what I did, both times! Came into a steeper climb, and automatically geared down, I had the bike in eco mode, but I guesse the power is just too much for it then. I really must learn to gear down ahead, and if not then learn to stop, get off, and restart :)
@@s2theb258 it will happen with regular drivetrains especially on an ebike. Got to train the brain to actively ride instead of reactionary. But if you get the new GX transmission from sram it is designed for “shifting under load”
@@frankiesemtb Thank you for your quick replies. I bought it brand new dec 23, but its the 22 model, and it has the SRAM GX Eagle, 12-speed, but do you mean that sram have updated THAT model after and made it tougher? if so, I might just have to get a quote for the updated one.
@s2theb258 SRAM just launched their T-type drivetrain last year it is designed so you can shift anytime without fear of breaking anything
I've got the 2020 version. Still working...
That's a 2021/22 model Only the this model came with fox 36 there Rockshox on 22 and 23 models that I'm looking at just now, just had to do a quick search on the pics i took as didn't remember seeing any fox forks just you put me off them saying what you did! There not to bad price just now in UK just now from 3.5k new and 23 models loads for sale makes you wonder why? Looked at 3 this week thats went up for sale all 2023 models 8 cycle charges like new for a grand off few on auction site aswell! Can't put the name or YT will remove the comment! Absolutely crazy that you Can't say E something so much for freedom of speach😂
My 2017 gen 1 Levo just got stolen on Monday. Bummed
Oh man bummer! I hope you find it!
Well dr battery did proof its was shit as well ad the motor go for bosh or bafang ô yes the rest is good but we tak about e-mtb no?
Never have another , 5 motors later , most unreliable bike ever owned , bought giant never had any issues
SRAM g2 brakes are horrible brakes on turbo levo, don't work good. I almost have an accident because the the brakes. The first thing is to replace the brakes. Just get the Magura mt7, Shimano saint or Shimano zee.
No, carbon was.
