About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Our critically acclaimed books include “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York”, “New York Nights”, “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” and “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC”.

Thank you so much for the great Bleeker street walk livestream. Our heroes start at Arhur W. Strickler Triangle where they walked pass such shops as "White Horrse Tavern" "BookMarc" "Magnolia Backery" "Bleeker Street Pizza" and "John Pizza" and "Village Revival Records" with Street detors into Christopher Street to see "Lindustrie Pizza" and "Mcnalty's" and Calmine Street for "Joe's Pizza". And with in those stops, our heroes visited 4 Street fairs such as Bleeker Street fair, Japan Street fair, a small Street fair and The East Village Zine fair. All with the humor, love and wit that comes with in their walks and the loveable Mr Hudson whose love for people and animal alike has no bounds. Hi James, Karla and sweet Hudson! Thanks for this great walk. The West Village doesn't even look like it is in NYC with its small and low rise buildings. Love all the festivals today. The food looked amazing at the Japan Fest. When my Father was in Barber School and a new Barber he worked in the Bowery. Def a lot different today than back then. Have a wonderful weekend!🥰
